• The Ultimate Functiona...
It wasn't done though. I still needed to finish some details to make it even better. I created a French Cleat holder for my table saw, modified my scroll saw to be clamped anywhere, built a French Cleat large paper roll holder, added electrical outlets, and most importantly, built a comfy swivel seat that slides out when in use and hides away when not in use. The seat really makes this a unique workbench. Enjoy!

I've had the chance to use this table a couple of times now. It's fun to whip out in front of people:) I can see what people are talking about when they say the legs are delicate, but they're design to support a "mostly" vertical load, not be torqued from the side or pushed back into place. If you just let the table open or close on it's own and don't force anything, it works great czcams.com/users/postUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh Once it's set up, it's pretty solid. My only gripe would probably be related to the clamps provided. They're not the highest quality. They do the job, so no big deal, but they could be better. All in all, pretty cool gadget.
A suggestion - Attach a dolly wheel to the bottom of the stool to ensure it does not fail in the future. Those slides will eventually fail with extended use.
I was going to suggest the same thing :)
Me too..
i had the same idea :D
+1 for the dolly wheel suggestion.
How would that work? With any attachment directly under the stool, it can't slide in nearly as far as it needs to. Also, it would pretty much ruin the soft puzzle mats he uses. What's the advantage of buying a wheel that reduces how good your workbench is, if you can also just buy new slides in a couple of years? You may even be able to just flip the slides around side to side if they start sagging. It's not like they're going to be extended often, so the only real wear they could have is sag. It'll be many years before those things wear down, so it's just not worth adding a wheel underneath it.
The year is 2040. Ben has continued to upgrade his workshop every day to the point where he can manufacture any product known to man with the push of a button.
And that dog is making Ben fetch
2044: he rube goldbergs a presidential campain from his couch.
Flips swing states.
Yes but he only makes French Cleats
@@natevideos263 I think those are Freedom Cleats.
2020. 10% of CZcams woodworkers already using the CNC he'll use in 2040.
This is a valuable addition to my woodwork collection czcams.com/users/postUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO I still will rate this woodwork plan as the best in my reference library. It always seem to stand out from the rest whenever you go through the library. This is a masterpiece.
The patience he has with the dogs getting in his work space. Great dog dad right there.
That french cleat for the saw is pure genius.
Agreed.
looks a lil dangerous though
@@piotrr5439 He can add some clamping addition for extra safety and eliminate vibration...
The arrangement looks like the workplace of a goldsmith with working area surrounding the worker...
It Is An Excellent Idea ; Why Not Have The Lower Stop As A Cleat For Added Strength & Support ?
Thanks for showing what you're up to, just found your channel ! Keep em coming
I'm a " paraplegic " living vicarious through YT channel projects lol - Very Inspiring !
Dogs are some of the smartest people I know. Your pair are pretty sharp.
By the way, your work bench is brilliant. Somebody mentioned putting a shelf by the USB ports. It's half a good idea. Put a groove in the shelf to stand your phone up.
No shop is complete without a competent Shop Dog!
*casually does front flip off of finished workbench*
love your energy man, also really like how creative you are with your projects.
I got soo scared that he would land on the dog
Even better if he did it with a basketball, and took a shot just after he landed!
Enjoy your dogs. I lost mine over five years ago and I miss him so very much. I know they can be a pain when you're working, but you'll miss them, so enjoy them now! 🐶🐶🐶
I'd say thats the nearest workbench I have ever seen, and I'm 70.Your the BEST,THANKS FOR THE GREAT CONTENT.
It's funny how I'm watching shop upgrade videos but I NEED to upgrade my shop as well. Great video though gives me Ideas for my shop! Thanks Ben
Ben that french cleat on the side of the bench is GENIUS!!! I was so looking forward to this build but that table saw out-feed cleat exceeded my expectations!!!
Just built my French cleat tonight .. Ben the Inspirerererer
The table saw french cleat is brilliant enough for its own video. Where the heck was this video 4 years ago when I was building my bench!! well done, sir.
It’s good to see you were properly supervised during the build. Amazing work!!
I tortured myself designing an integrated table saw into my bench only to learn I don’t use it as much as expected. I love the idea of simply hanging it onto the edge when needed. Good call👍🏿🔨🪚
Looks like the brown dog has staked a claim to the shelf on the bottom. Add a soft pad for him to sleep on. Excellent build, I am thinking of a smaller version for my garage. Thanks for the inspiration.
The french cleat versatility here is brilliant.
You were smart to build the table as low to the ground as you did. Not for the center of gravety and all that but when your dogs toys roll under an area they can not retreive them from and you have stop what your doing, find a stick or whatever to get their toy for them. Your a good Dad!
This guy loves his french cleates
Hey, dude. For the seat, why don’t you attach a wheel/caster and cut a notch (or maybe fold-up wheels) so that when you extend the seat, the weight is not supported by the slides alone?
thats a good idea
Add another set of slides.
I was thinking the same thing, why cantilever all that weight when you can support it with the floor on some HD wheels.
Because it looks like he’s a floating jeti master craftsman sitting at his work bench the way it is lol. Safety first though
when he said 150 lbs....I was like....yeah, I am outx2. I would have to have a tripod wheel to support my beefy behind.
Какие же молодцы Американцы! Так к животным относятся с любовью! Респект вам!!!
Love it. I might suggest moving the power around the corner instead of right behind you. I feel like it might get in the way as you have things plugged in and you go to stand up? Great ideas!! Thanks for sharing. I enjoy your videos.
That front flip was sick
would recommend that you update the seat so the 4x4 piece under the seat is longer and extends towards the floor but just short, so when the seat flexes when you are sitting the lower "Leg" piece touches the floor and make the seat more stable and help prevent your sliders from bending or pulling out screws. you could even add adjustable rubber foot ( screw type) to the "Leg" so you can adjust the flex amount.
I'd really like to see you do a video on the things you hate and/or would have done differently.
The French cleats to the edge of the table are brilliant! I was thinking of routing a channel into a piece of ply or mdf skirting. It would accept the male profile of the cleat, so as to keep the perimeter of the workbench flush. You still get the functionality.
How in the world he doesn't have more than 1M subscribers, at least 1M
Definitely going to build one like this. It’s a beast. God job man
It’s so encouraging to see such genius at work. You’ve got a wonderful, fulfilling life ahead of you. ‘Love the dogs getting your attention.
The French cleat table saw is an unreal idea
Just want to start out by saying that this is an awesome design. I definitely am inspired to redo my main workbench. Also wanted to say that Rockler sells some amazing workbench casters that mount on the outside of the table legs and will fold out of the way so that the weight of the bench, while stationary, is completely on the legs/frame. They support up to 400 lbs a piece.
I have been looking to design and build a workbench for week's but have now stopped having seen your video. I think it's brilliant Ben. Time to start cutting wood.
"The slides have a weight limit of about 150 pounds"
Me: Welp, I guess I need to stand more anyway
Lol yes, was thinking the same!
Oh man, this is the best workbench I've ever seen! Only compatible with one other. I love absolutely everything about it, namely the compatibility with French cleats and seat. If I had the paper it would be for doodling designs haha. I'm really impressed
You could add a fold-out foot on the bottom of the swivel stool to support you when you sit on it and take some stress off the drawer slides. You can build it so it folds up when you slide the chair in and drops out when you pull the chair out.
The addition of the dog tax at the end made my day, the gentle lovely giant and the play full corgi made me "awh" and smile to no end. Thank you sir.
Owh and the workbench is also cool.
My favorite part of your videos are the dogs, especially the incessantly ball focused corgi. I had a pug who was a retriever in spirit. She’s not with me anymore, but she was the same way, dropping her ball or toy right in front of me, or on my feet to get my attention, often giving a little ‘woof’ to make sure I noticed. Cheers.
I've watched several of your videos before but never subscribed until now. That french cleat for the table saw is genius!!!!! I built your modular workbenches a couple of months ago and every time I go out to the shop I find myself using them. Keep up the fantastic video's sir, you are an inspiration. Thank you.
I love the idea of the versatile French cleat.
I love how you made your work bench. I love when people don't do trendy things and just do what's fun and neat for themselves. I look forward to seeing how it really works for you and the things you come to like and dislike about it. Thanks man!
4:55 Ha. He's probably thinking, Oh, a nice mat, I'm gonna sit here.
Now I need to go hug my dog.
It's good to see that Zach Morris is keeping himself busy after graduating from Bay Side.
I can’t lie. I’m only here for the pups. LOL
Jk. Nice work. I like the use of the French cleats. Simple but very functional.
Glad to see the Corgi clearance on the table saw; so often an overlooked measurement!
Mhm
Their short legs are often not taken into account
Thanks Ben for posting. I live in Armenia now, and there is a war here, so your videos are most welcome as a break from the chaos around me.
Your table is very nice, but your dogs are great!
You are a good man!
Love the dog outtakes. There is more to life than work. Got a new subscriber.
Dude I do not think you know how much I enjoy about your videos it is really make my day PLEASE keep it up!!
Thanks!
That work bench is really amazing. So many great ideas.
You are so patient with your dogs--it's great to see.
Its nice to see French Cleats being used for something other than making tool mounts then being hung on a wall. Thanks for the great idea of using it for a tablesaw attachment.
Wow! I'm so impressed with your many creative ideas!! I remember when you just got the building. You were so excited & couldn't wait to show us your ideas. I love this channel, & you, your family, & of course your dogs!! 🐶😊
Love it. The cleat system on your walls also came in handy. As usual, your "supervisors" stole the show. Look at fuzzbutt making sure your puzzle mat is OSHA compliant.
Your dogs are like the best quality inspectors :)
The bench is thought out and well designed too!
Such a great job Ben! And lots of great ideas for the rest of us :)
Ok tough guy, let’s see you flip off the table with the table saw hooked up and running. This was great man, gave me perfect blue print to build mine. I really like the cleat for table saw. Also, don’t underestimate some heavy duty casters. 4 good casters can handle 1000lb no problem. 8 will be sufficient for elephant roller skates.
Love the dogs! Thanks for including them!
I really enjoyed this, thanks. I'm busy with a workbench project so really enjoyed some of the tips you shared while building yours. Love your storage ideas too, so clean and uncluttered.
I love the interchangeable options you installed. Beautiful table.
I never would of thought to put my portable table saw on a french cleat. I'm loving your workshop, so functional! I can't wait to duplicate some of this after I finish the landscaping.
Great job putting all of your ideas into that workbench!! Can't wait to see what you think of next.
have watched a lot of your channel this week - fantastic channel, great information and excellent direction/filming - thank you ! This addition to the ultimate workbench is fabulous, thank you and Congratulations Dodgers !!!!!!
Those dogs LOVE you man!!! That's awesome!!!!!
I love the Idea for the paper roll holder.
Wow! French clear mounted table saw!! This is some great stuff... you’ve given me some great ideas/inspiration for my shop. I’m currently on a French cleat kick!🤪 Thank you!!!
Brilliant, that seat is genious
Awesome build!
This is now my favorite workbench design. Hopefully when I get a shop/garage I can build something like this! Thanks for sharing your ideas!
Awesome table, I am so gonna use some of those ideas on the one I build for myself. GREAT JOB!!!
I love this concept....I built something similar in my first locksmith van....great work...!!!
You’re a unrelenting beast!! Love the design.
Ive seen many table saw work tables, but this is the most unique due to the method used for hanging the table-saw. Dope!
OMG the best, you're brilliant. The dogs are an added bonus! Love Love Love
I like the paper roll. I used 1” black pipe for mine with the pipe caps on the outside of the wood support to keep the pipe and roll in place.
Ben, nice job on the workbench, you’ve inspired me to want to build one! I used cleats to hang the cabinets in my laundry room, since my heating unit is located behind it! It makes accessing it much easier.
Gorgeous! Your dogs are so adorable 😍 💕! You thought of everything for this Workbench Center ! Peace and good fortune and good health to you and yours! 👏 for the athletic display 👌 you rock!
ok yep that's one of the best bench ideas Ive seen, great seat and option tool french cleat usage, very nice work
I am lovin' the table saw cleat - nice work.
Best of Workshop Shop Dogs, Awesome Build by the Way
Thanks Much
I like your table and your dogs attitude !
Webster off the bench got the sub
Thank you for sharing your thoughtful project and wonderful presentation! I got a few ideas I will consider for my build. Gymnastics were perfect! Dogs always add points
Those casters in video will easily hold 1000lbs. My work bench moves with them. It’s similar.
Really great video! I have the same table saw right now and counting down the days I can upgrade to a sawstop. Keep the great content coming!
I can’t wait to see you start a project……this really exciting for me. As always, be the best you can be and ENJOY 😊
You should look into getting a single caster wheel to roll under that chair for extra stability.
What a nice and functional and easy to build workbench. Thank you.
What an awesome workbench. Love the french cleat system. I may have to do that for my jointer on one end of my bench instead of making a cart.
Best workbench video I've ever seen. You have a great presentation style and a pleasant voice. Dawgs are your best helpers. Keep broadcasting
the seat is a game changer I am going to steal that one! Also, the table saw is sketchy to me but idk. Great ingenuity on this one.
I am impressed and a bit jealous. This is excellent engineering. I admire your creativity and problem solving abilities. Awesome job!!!
Very impressive. Easy to tell that you spent a lot of time designing this. I think the slide out stool is an excellent design. And you can always upgrade the drawer slides, once you find ones that have the load capacity you are looking for.
Young man. I have watched a lot of videos since the pandemic hit, with many different subjects as I learn new skills. Your video and commentary is one of my favorites of all time not only because of your design but your thought process shared as well. I'm a good judge of talent and you have Talent with a capital T. I hope you paid your two helpers with a couple of snacks....
This is a genius layout for a work bench and beautifully executed! I will likely be copying this for my garage shop! Well done Sir, well done!
Love the way you added the electrical boxes. I’m going to do that to mine thanks for sharing
I'm currently building a shop in a tiny 12x13 shed. Your bench looks near perfect for the lil space! Thanks for making the video!!
Fantastic mate..!!! Great idea, in a few days I will also build a counter for my new saw bench.
Love your techniques and your doggies lol. Great hob on the bench. Long time coming and finally you have it :)
The best workbenches are the ones that work just for you.
You are so clever the way you design and build the workbench! Amazing indeed.
