    @Striker 50 if honda recommends 3.7qts for this particular vehicle. When you drained and measured you got 3.8/3.9 qts that means it was overfilled via honda recommendation so that would be all the more reason to use the check bolt so it didn't remain overfilled right?

    • @Striker50_
      @Striker50_  Před 2 lety +4

      I purchased my car used, so it may be possible that when they certified it they added 3.8-3.9.
      That said, I would recommend using the check bolt for accuracy 👍 my car was on ramps so I would have had to lift it with 4 jack stands to assure excess drains properly(since it has to be level) and that's a lot of work for the average person doing this service at home.
      Probably best to just put 3.7 and follow specifications but 0.1 oz won't make a difference really. Hope that helps!

    FYI, using the ramps is fine. You should do this 3x's since only 4 qts. done of approx. 12 total. After draining, just fill with 4 qts. and first loosen the check bolt which you then can access from above after parking on a flat level service. Let the trans. fluid drain to a trickle from the check bolt (from memory within 90 seconds after turning it off), then tighten check bolt. Drive around for about 10 miles, then do 2x's more to get a good fluid change. Your fluid was long overdue, probably didn't hurt it at 120k, would do every 30k thereafter with just 4 qt. changes. Honda doesn't give a sheetz about you and your car, they want it to burn out the trans. Also, engine oil piston rings (change oil/oil filter every 5 thousand miles at the 50% minder), otherwise your engine cyl. piston rings with burn out and you will be adding 1 qt. oil every 4k miles. I have the 2014 4 cyl. model as well.

      My personal opinion on paint is to maybe do a clay bar wax to get some of the impurities out. I messaged a friend to wax and buff my car ready to fork over $300-$400 but he never got back to me. @Striker 50 I hear you, i just order all the filters and fluid. I have a 2015 with 120k miles. Did the trans fluid flush at 60k. Was told there is no filter to change and then I seen a video a few days ago showing one in the trans.
      I recently rebuilt at transmission in my 2011 vw Routan at home in my garage. Complete rebuild, my first time ever. Been two weeks and running good now.
      I just looked at a video on the cvt trans, dont think I will mess with one of them!!
      Thanks for the response.

      Verdaderamente, este carro no tiene un filtro normal que se cambia. Dura la vida de la transmicion. Pienso que solo e encontrado un video donde una persona lol cambio pero es un poco mas dificil, y no se debe de. Estaras bien 👍

    I own my Accord not Honda; therefore, I do my CVT change at 30K-35K.

    I don't think you should have changed the transmission fluid if it haven't been change that long it could do more harm than good for your transmission

      It's not that bad. Recommend is 90,000miles I changed it at 120,000 miles.
      It's also a CVT not an Automatic so there aren't any real gears that slip. And the car isn't driven hard like a truck that tows puts stress on the gears
      Thanks for the concern though!

      How do you figure changing it more often would harm your vehicle? So you're saying getting rid of burnt used or dirty 8s bad and filling with new clean oil is bad? Wtf?

    • @Striker50_
      @Striker50_  Před 2 lety +3

      @@bens3767 I'm not understanding what you mean to say. The original poster means to say that after a certain point, like if the transmission oil has never been changed in 180,000 miles, it is better to not change it at all. Because by then, the automatic components have worn due to friction from not changing regularly. Not changing it however ironically keeps the transmission functional since the worn debris in the transmission gives the gears grip. If you change and add new fluid, the gears will slip. This applies much more to an automatic transmission over a CVT.

      @@bens3767 Changing it more often won't harm your vehicle, but it is an overkill. It is the equivalent of wanting to charge your phone back up when it reaches 80% battery life
