Hall sensor is a huge improvement on the throttle (I assume it's on the clutch as well. They formerly used a potentiometer senor reading rotation of plastic gear (why plastic!). The throttle had a metal gear that engaged with and rotated the plastic one attached to the potentiometer shaft. Wear on plastic gear would cause input blips and misreadings. I experienced this and semi successfully installed a homemade hall sensor with 2 magnets and a 3D printed a hall sensor mount, removed the old worn out potentiometer components. Was able to get it read on the pc but ended up with new pedals before I could make it better, dodgey soldering on my part. With a hall sensor, the magnets are attached to throttle and the hall sensor which doesnt move reads the amount of gauss (magnetic field flux) from the magnets moving with the throttle pedal. Magnetic field strength increases the closer the magnets are to the sensor.
Great to see them make this change because it is contactless and now no concerns of pot sensor wear they had previously!

If it’s like the V1 CSL Elites then yes you can swap the accelerator and the clutch. I did. They use the same RJ11 connector so you can just swap the connectors in the control unit after swapping their physical location on the pedal base plate, and the pedals (or wheel base) will recognize them correctly.

I got my CSL Elite Pedals V1 about a year and a half ago and they work perfectly. Personally I’m going to wait to upgrade to Heusinkveld pedals but I can’t recommend the CSL Elites enough, especially for your first load cell kit

  • @edteach3r

James, when you do test them, could you point out how the V2s differ from the previous generation? I own a pair of CSR Elite pedals, which I have been using for 12 years. The reason that I have not upgraded is that my pedals have the adjustable load cell, which you can easily adjust with a dial on the brake pedal itself. I am not sure why Fanatec discontinued that.

Went from CSR Elite first gen load cell brake pedals to 100kg elastomers pedals, and struggled at first few weeks, then got used to it to the point where I wouldnt wanna have it any other way - Yes, its stiff at first, but I have managed to learn to modulate by the force and not distance - which was what I was doing with the CSR Elite pedals. The way they were built was also odd, because I couldnt really push my leg into it without it slipping as the pedal would fold down after just few mm of travel so much, that my feet would start sliding up and above it.

  • @TheJAMF

17:05 "if it works, it works"... and there is the rub. All that rubbing the slider does over the carbon track on a potentiometer, it has a tendency to wear through. Or before that, become spikey. Most (heavy) users of the first gen McLaren wheel have encountered issues with the clutch bite point not returning to zero. Flightsimmers with joysticks that use pots have all encountered the issue. To avoid RMA or replacing pots yourself every number of years, Hall-Effect sensors remove that problem. They cost a bit more, but what price do you put on longevity?

Hi mate, thanks for your video. I have the csl pedals but I hate them, I tried varoius mod but I can't find feeling with the brake pedal. I don't know if the v2's worth the upgrade or is better try something better like sim magic p1000 or conspit cpp lite. Are there something news about a new fanatec high-end pedals set? Thank you

Looking forward to the review. It's time to upgrade my t150 that I've been using for the past year. Pedals first. I want to see if these will be good enough or If I should maybe get the VRS pedals at double the price. I'm looking to buy pedals that I will be satisfied with and not really want to replace with something else eventually.
