"This isn't about physical appearance or the cruelty of body image, this is about the health issues that come with being obese." This statement deserves more love! Shaming people who are obese/overweight for how they look is just bullying, and that's not okay, but at the same time, it is important to address these types of health issues. I've always thought of it as: if someone is overweight, it's never right to bully/shame them, but at the same time, I would never discourage them from pursuing a healthier lifestyle. The important part, though, is that THEY should want to do it for THEMSELVES ❤

Im from South Korea, and when I first went to the US for vacation for a month, no offense, I was surprised at the portion sizes in the US and how much salty and sweet they are than in Korea (which has a cuisine that loves spicy, sweet, salty, and combinations of these) and other countries that I have been to. At first, I thought it was only the burgers and fries and stuff, but it was everywhere. Even in Mcdonalds, I ordered the small coke size cup, and it was almost as huge as the large cup for Mcdonalds in Korea. Even the regular size serving of fries were more than regular for me. I enjoyed it at first but I felt sick and bad after a week and ended up searching for authentic Korean and Asian food after I got through the first week. I hope the medical and scientific community in the US gets the attention and backing it deserves without intervention from these companies in order to curb the obesity problem in the US and in neighboring countries.

Our school food is all junk food and 'healthy' foods that our parents thought was healthy actually contain a lot of sugar. Add that we're all working so much that we don't have time to cook and now most don't know how to cook.

I was skinny and slim before I went there and after I went there I had gained quite a bit of weight in the first two months, like around 10 pounds, maybe more idk. And its not like I didn't much in India, even here I ate a lot, and a LOT of junk food, but nothing made me gain weight like the food in America. Its funny cuz I've been slim all my life even though I ate a lot and barely exercised but a single trip to America changed that and made me kinda chubby.

@Kaushal Batavia Don't blame it on vegetarianism. Chicken toh roti/rice ke Saath hi khaate honge na.
I had a professor, he once shared a study, I don't remember the sources he quoted but it goes like this,
Us Indians under British rule were badly exploited the British ofcourse. During that phase out people were being stripped out of wealth and land, poverty increased by ten folds and resources kept diminishing, the great Bengali famine is a great example where food grains were sent to troops fighting in World War and Millions of people died in Hunger.
Hunger became a big issue throughout the country. Our ancestors were becoming physically frail. While cooking Rice when you wash it, the starchy water was preserved and was consumed the next morning as getting food one time a day was all they could get. That's how living used to be.
Historically, he claimed, our bodies tend to store carbohydrates a lot more since food was so scarce back then but after Independence as India gets more and more modern the genetics starts to show up when carbs are consumed in large amount. The people born in 1960s 1980s are prime example basically most of our our Batch's parents generation. Which is why us Indians usually have tummies, but not observed hands or stuff.
      XxxxxxxxxxX
Things are changing now. There is almost no relation with being vegetarian or not. The amount of Rice and Rotis we eat matter more.
Our grandparents who worked in farms are frail or strong(as we are improving) and coke doesn't even damage them more than a ant bite. But us who live in cities, better walk daily.
Dals/Pulses and Soya chunks are pretty good for protein and some people consume non fertilized eggs too.

Being told that “you can eat anything as long as you exercise” damaged my eating habits so bad as a child (along with other factors). And when I knew I was overweight I had no idea how to lose it because all I was told was to exercise and the thing is I was a *very* active kid especially in the summer because I lived in Alaska and the sun would be up all night and day so that meant more play. It wasn’t until I *finally* discovered calorie counting that I was able to lose weight, but still I’m trying to recover because those eating habits have been so drilled into my brain from such a young age, if underfeeding a child is abuse then so should overfeeding. And now we have “fat acceptance” running rampant

I agree with "fat acceptance", I just would call it something more dignified. The idea of the "full-figured woman" evolved into "everyone is beautiful in their own way", in reality, it's marketing for the ever-increasing overweight and obese population. Of course, a person can be attractive and overweight, but the point is the health equity of maintaining a healthy weight. Nobody asks the large model what her blood pressure is.

I live in America and this is why I obsessively read ingredient lists in grocery stores, so much so that my friends thought I had food allergies. If you want to get around an advertisement, then think about the making of the ad or other observations (ex: make of the car, what the actor may be thinking about personally, why they chose that storyline, potential bloopers in the making, etc.) that are not the point that the advertiser wants you to think about. Then the ad doesn’t have as much influence.

    Hey Hasan and Netflix team,
I just want to express my gratitude for at least showcasing Mauritius (where I am currently living) in your episodes. Had I watched this earlier maybe it would have been one my earliest comments. It would be great if you could come to Mauritius and do a standup comedy show here and I'll be among the your audiences.
    Cheers!
