    To further add on the connection between Ichigo and Aizen's Zanpakuto.
    It should be noted that the attack that Ichigo uses to defeat Aizen was called _Mugetsu_ or _Moonless Sky._
    Perfectly symbolizing that Ichigo has fully destroyed the source of Aizen's illusions and because of that, he possessed a deeper and greater understanding of who Aizen is and what he really feels, than any other person.

If you go back and read the first volumes of bleach the art was more stylized and the narrative was fresh and appealing. And then it didn't know where to go from there. Part of the failure of the Arrancar arc is simply the challenge of writing a genius antagonist. Kubo himself isn't a super genius so its hard to make Aizen a convincing mastermind without just saying "I was behind everything!!!"

    @theformation3781 Před 4 lety +53

    One thing: Those he sought to kill were the rulers of soul society, yes, but those were the Central 46 and not Genryuusai. I'm pretty sure Aizen didn't even consider him as any form of leadership considering he was controlling him from the shadows in the first arc. I'm sure he despised him because Genryuusai became soft, following people without question but he didn't seek to kill him because of it. He wanted to kill him simply because he was in his way.

    • @Druguzu
      @Druguzu Před 3 lety +7

      I don't quite agree with that, he spared all the other captains, but decided to specifically try and kill Yamamoto, because he is the one who formed the Gotei 13, and with that, everything else about soul society formed as well. He might not have been the one who had say in everything, but he was the one enforcing it all.

    • @theformation3781
      @theformation3781 Před 3 lety +7

      @@Druguzu Wow this is an old comment. Anyhow while he did want to kill Genryuusai not just because he was in his way, he didn't want to kill him because he was enforcing anything. He wanted to Genryuusai because Aizen saw the world as he would want to change it (his final dialogue with Urahara), and to do that he had to destroy the system. The system wasn't evil, so to speak, but it was complacent and stagnant, and that system had been defended and erected by none other than Genryuusai. He was the one who had probably set up Central 46 in the first place, probably to keep himself in check (somewhat similar to Chinese emperors keeping scholars with them to "guide them", and I say he instated them because C46 are not strong militarily so probably had to be set up by someone), he was the one who established the school which trained Gotei 13 members, and he was the one who established Gotei 13 itself and acted as it's best and final bastion. If Aizen wanted to kill the enforcers of C46 or the Soul King, he would've killed the captains too. However he recognised Captains as individuals, but couldn't with Genryuusai as he was deeply entrenched in the very system he wanted to rebel against. Aizen even says so when he tried to cut Genryuusai down:
      "To you, I will not say "I will not kill you." You are the very history of Soul Society. You alone will die by my sword."
      Furthermore, and this is kinda theoretical, from what we've seen of Genryuusai's full power even if Aizen managed to achieve his goals without killing Genryuusai, he's too big of a threat to be even consider sparing. Aizen probably felt too threatened from Genryuusai as someone who pursued strength, because he was the only one who Aizen had seen surpass him in every way possible. Considering he wanted to occupy "The Empty Chair above it all" he did pursue strength, and even if he didn't feel threatened on a personal level Genryuusai is just too dangerous to not kill. Its telling that Kubo has through his writing made it perfectly clear that Genryuusai cannot be taken down in a fair fight (both the major villains have always come with a plan to counter Genryuusai, and no one else). It's even implied that Kyoka Suigetsu (from Karakura Town Aizen, not EOS Aizen) wouldn't even have worked against Genryuusai as he was able to feel the reiatsu of the sword piercing him, and he'd be able to counter any Kido with his own (considering he was able to cast, in a half dead state, Hado 96 in a capacity far beyond Soul Society Aizen's Hado 90 when they should at least be comparable its safe to assume he'd be able to stop any Kido) plus his hakuda still remains the best we've seen in the entire series. Aizen couldn't have beaten him no matter what he did if he didn't have Wonderweiss. Thus Genryuusai couldn't be allowed to recover as he was the only one Aizen feared.

    To take it even further, we can also acknowledge that Aizen would've already known the name of Ichigo's zanpakuto as soon as he got it and in a sense, the will of the Hogyoku imprinted itself on Zangetsu to be the weapon that would ultimately give Aizen the actual challenge he wanted.

    EXCEPT, Aizen actually planned that Ichigo might be able to train for "weeks" in dangai before facing him. He implied as much as soon as Ichigo arrived in Karakura. HOWEVER, Aizen had his own "monkey seeing moon" situation, thinking that there was absolutely no way he could lose to Ichigo, and while this is partially true, considering he is still alive, it backfired because now he is bound to a chair. Kinda like the Emperor from Warhammer 40k. It seems that it is the destiny of badass, absolutely OP characters to end up sitting for the rest of forever.

    This is definitely one of the best heel turns in Jump history (you had an ENTIRE volume dedicated to Aizen fucking over everyone). I would even dare say it's unprecedented; and also that Aizen was one of the first "Mastermind" type villains that set the trend for the type of scheming villain we see more nowadays, compared to back then where the shonen villain was usually a power type like in Dragonball. Even though sadly, later on it falls apart and doesn't live up to this amazing introduction, "End of Hypnosis" is definitely one of the best volumes of any manga, and at the time I can definitely see how it made the entire fandom's jaws drop.

There are so many thematic line and details that I had never picked up on prior to this video, from Squad 11 dismissing healers only for zaraki to revere a healer, from Aizen's incomplete philosophy being completed full circle by Ichigo the moon breaker. I just think Aizen destroyed the Kōtotsu and delayed in the human world knowing it would give Ichigo a chance to progress rapidly. It wasn't a mistake He wanted someone to test his new powers or maybe it goes deeper then that Ichigo talks about how he can feel the wielders emotions through the swords and he only felt loneliness through his sword when he was on his level, maybe he intentionally gave him the chance to grow to around his own level so that he could understand Aizen l but i don't think he ever expected him to completely surpass him.

    Aizen destroying that Doomtrain meant that he knew Ichigo could use it to get stronger and so he wanted to see it. Even when Dangai Ichigo appeared and wanted to change the setting, Aizen attempted to say that there was no need. (implying that he would not need to destroy Karakura Town after all despite wiping out Gin). Aizen even learns from his defeat to Ichigo and at the end of TYBW he calls humans will to keep on living, courage. Even before that, Aizen lamented that Ichigo entering the Royal Realm first is "a hard man to forgive." implying forgiveness. It's still hard to say what would have happened during the final fight before Juha resurrected himself, but Aizen did seemingly go back to Muken to serve his sentence, however he has disappeared as of the Hell chapter one off. I don't think Aizen will be an enemy to Ichigo again. So I'm looking forward to seeing what happens with the eventual Hell Arc.
    *Edit:* During the final battle with Juha, Aizen even exclaims "Welcome to my Soul Society," meaning a new Soul Society were to be borne from the ruins of the old.

    This video opened my eyes to many things I didn’t considered about the plot and the characters. And I’m really happy about that. Bleach was the first manga I ever read. I really loved it and seeing it getting progressively worse and noticing so many glaring flaws that nowadays I don’t see in many other battle shonen ,along with that cursed final chapter, made me really sad and bitter. I still think that some of these flaws are irredeemable but this video made me at least realize that I have to analyze things more thoroughly (and, believe me, I already analyzed this manga quite a bit) before judging them.
