- Gin Ichimaru is Aizen’s right hand man, and along with Kaname Tousen the three of them defect from the Soul Society leaving behind their past life, their respected positions and the people who cared for them. In this video I am going to analyse Gin’s different appearances in the series, how he makes other characters like Ichigo, Rukia feel discomfort and unease. Especially commenting on his relationship with Rangiku Matsumoto, and its significance on his character arc within the series.

It’s crazy that Gin was the closest to turning Aizen’s “all part of my plan” on him
He did in some way
Well he succeeded, cuz of Ichigo
Gregory Cook Jr. still in his own right his plan and dedication of years to this betrayal was great and outwits ichigo’s way of defeating Aizen in strength alone. Gin used trust in cunning to create the perfect moment which he waited years for. I guess he just was too late, the Hogyoku was too powerful
Aizen was trying it tho. He was like I knew you would betray me gin. lmao
rayvon velez yeah but I’m not sure he realized *why* Gin would do it. Although with Gin’s personality I wouldn’t think it’d be that obvious he would betray Aizen but I guess it was the fact that Gin was always watching.
Gin only cares about two people in his life: Rangiku and himself. And normally in that ordered.
I think also he cared about that Wabisuke guy... Kira i think
@@skyreapery2n164 his name is Izuru Kira though in gins mind he's noticed izuru's shift in behaviour and considers it a positive after seeing izuru killing that arrancar
Not only did Gin did the most damage to Aizen, but Aizen did the same to him by slashing, stabbing and throwing him like dirt. That shows you how pissed Aizen was with him. The only two characters to make Aizen that angry was Ichigo and Kisuke. Kudos to Gin
Yeah you can tell aizen took his betrayal personally too based on how he killed gin.
Finally, best boy gets a video. One thing not a whole lot of people talk about is how symbolic Gin's true bankai ability is. After he betrays Aizen, he reveals that his bankai's true ability is its _dust_ poison, and Rangiku's shikai itself revolves around _dust_ and _ash._ Pretty sure from a writing standpoint, the only reason Gin's bankai even relates to dust in that way, and why he hid its _true_ ability, was to represent the way he also hid where his _true_ loyalty lied: Rangiku.
damn, that's an interesting point. Great insight
fate enough I’m falling more in love with this character : Gin
Just like Snape's doe patronus being like Lily

If there's one character that still breaks me when he dies is Gin. Deserved better treatment.
Yes
He’s got way more attention than Jushiro.
What abt ukitake.? He deserved better too...
@@br5073 I feel like Kubo was saving Ukitake for the final arc to give him all his shine for the TYBWA but he rushed his story because of his own health issues. Hopefully the anime does his character justice.
@@kowlessur13 Way better treatment and you can tell from the back story he wanted to go all out on him during the TYBWA but due to his health he just rushed a lot of things in the story.
If you were to turn into a SNAKE and start devouvering humans, and with same mouth you cried out to me that, "I LOVE YOU", Would I be able to say "I LOVE YOU" the same way I do today ?
*Gin shows up at Rangiku's house*
Gin: "I picked up some flowers for you. Your favorites."
Rangiku: "Thank you! Go ahead and sit down, I'll get a vase for them."
*Gin sits on a couch and after putting the flowers away Rangiku snuggles up to him*
Rangiku: "I love you Gin."
Gin: "..."
*Rangiku looks up at Gin and raises an eyebrow*
Rangiku: "Now's where you say that you love me too."
Gin: "If I were to turn into a snake and began devouring people, then with that same mouth said I love you...could I say it the same way you can now?"
Rangiku: "What are you talking about? You know I've never been good at riddles."
*Gin receives word from Aizen that Ichigo and party are approaching the gate to the Seretei*
Gin: "Forget it. I gotta go."
*Gin moves Rangiku aside and stands up to leave*
Rangiku: "What? Gin, where are you going? Gin?!"

Everybody talks about Aizen's betrayal. Noone talks about Gin's. That's why I love this channel.
Gin is criminally underrated!
Was that even a betrayal?

When Gin said he would save Rukia early in the series, I bet he wasn't kidding, he was actually considering doing it, but decided that he needed to continue with his plan.
He was not kidding , he was enjoying her suffering
@@marionarda2790 Could be, but I theorize that he hesitated with his plan since he knew Rukia had the Hogyoku in her body. It's possible he considered to help Rukia to prevent Aizen from getting her.
@@Sai4651 he literaly helped aizen with the plan to kill her. Why would he do that ?
@@marionarda2790 To prevent him from getting the Hogyoku. That's why I say he hesitated, his initial plan was to let Aizen get the Hogyoku and wait it out, but I theorize that he was thinking about changing his plan, but still went through with it in the end. Otherwise it wouldn't make sense for that interaction to happen, Gin only does evil things with a purpose (eventually kill Aizen), if there's nothing to gain from his ultimate plan, he's not gonna waste his time. It wouldn't make sense for him to mess with Rukia otherwise which is why I'm thinking this way.
@@Sai4651 no no he does plenty of evil stuff for no reason ( targetting an unconscious momo, lying to kira about no harm getting to her , torturing rukia ). If he did not want aizen to get it he would not have helped him get it for a century. Gin cares about noone but his goal .
Gin's backstory is an excellent example of a well written revenge plot. There was no need to "spoon-feed" readers with kawaii moments of him and Rangiku, no bonding scenes with other shinigamis that desperately begs "please like me, I'm just misunderstood" bullshit and all that cheap/contrived storytelling. Gin did not have muscular arms but he did turn out to be an absolute badass when we realize that he had "the courage to betray everyone to protect something he loves".
Gin Ichimaru: the unsung hero, a beautiful character outlined with the most evil smile. My favourite character in #Bleach.
Same here bro, the one character I never wished had died.
Yeah, remember back when it was released some didn't take his true intentions revealed and discredited him as a discount Itachi.
While some parallels are legit and he is not that well executed purely by those metrics. Gin's path has a very cruel beauty to it. Frankly while badass, Itachi keeping up a play and sacrificing everything for so long is pretty unrealistic. Gin on the other hand is a more relatable cautionary tale how a talented kid with good intentions and a tendency for trolling could lose himself in a mission that narrowmindedly sacrafices everything for one goal.
kushagra sharma he’s not a hero but yeah he is a great character
@@gibio396 tbh he is a villain but he is a villain for a good reason.
kushagra sharma yeah
He was the smiley of the series. Nobody can trust him.
the only thing you could trust, is that he would never hurt Rangiku
@Embodiment of destruction I disagree, just because she sensed something doesn't make it true, he could easily hide it, just like Ichigo couldn't sense what he wanted even though he figures that kind of thing out when he crosses blades with his opponents. I believe that Gin is a man with good intentions, and only did those evil deeds for the sake of the love he has for Rangiku. People express love in different ways and he had an extreme.
@Embodiment of destruction So was Tosen evil? Enlighten me.
Saying someone deserved to die is just harsh and going too far. I agree Gin was pretty Evil and his actions are unforgivable, but I at least understand why he is the way he is. I think if he lived, he would be locked up and forced to think about what he put Rangiku through. Perhaps he could have redeemed him self during the war with the Quincy.
@@zemox2534 He was nowhere near "evil" as Tosen. :D i have no clue what that guy is about. Tosen was with Aizen because he wanted to destroy the world for the sake of destroing it because he hated it. Gin was with Aizen to....wait for it. Kill Aizen.
seeing Rangiku cry was heartbreaking...
At that moment even without telling her once... she knew...
It is symbolic of his complete failure . Her tears are the last thing he sees. While his goal was that she would not cry

Gin is a legendary character
I recall reading this somewhere, but what's really sad is that Gin devoted his entire life to killing Aizen for what he did to Rangiku. We learn late in the manga that the Zanpakuto spirit is actually a manifestation of the user's true soul. His shikai is "Shinso", which means "God Spear", and his bankai is "Kamishini no Yari", which means "God-killing Spear". This means his heart and soul was devoted to killing a god, ie Aizen. In a similar light, his bankai's special ability is to turn to dust, while Rangiku's Zanpakuto turns to ash. This also shows how close he was to her, and that all his actions were for inevitably for her sake.
Not my comment. Took it from another video but I think everyone needs to give it a read because of how well it explains the relationship between Gin and rangiku with so less screentime 🤯
Aizen should've died when Gin attacked him. That whole "Aizen is evolving again" BS made me so mad.
Especially his Kamishini No Yari ability. THAT should have royally fucked him up for good. But good thing it didn't or the Gotei 13 would've been crushed when Juha Ywach attacked.
Yeah :/
Yeah I agree. It made no sense that he survived that, but from a writing standpoint it was much more powerful that it didn’t work. It adds more tragedy to gin’s story. Idk, they could’ve had a different way for him too survive then “oh well I can evolve so I win.” I think gin’s plan shouldn’t have succeeded to add more to his story, but they should’ve found a better way for him to fail.

I really feel like the Rukongai be breeding out beasts who carry the Seireitei on their backs PERIOD
Seireitei should consider itself lucky to find such beasts
beautiful beasts btw
Gin's only problem is that he waited too long to strike. His pray had gotten too strong for his strike to matter.
and that truly embodies his symbol
No, you got it wrong. That was literally the one and only time Aizen left his guard open, it was even said that Aizen when he fused with Hogyoku he started to left his guard as he became cocky...
Because Aizen's not an idiot, before he fused with hogyoku he's always cautious and keeping backup plan. He's aware that someday Gin would betray him, and he will prepare it when he's not fused with Hogyoku. And Gin's aware how smart and strong Aizen is, so he wait and wait until Aizen drop his guard down.
He probably would've killed him if not for the plot amour lol. Only the mc gets to kill the main villain after all the hype.
I guess part of the reason was he took a long time to observe and figure out how to nullify Aizen's shikai ability. Wouldn't want to break his cover by piercing an imaginary Aizen now would he.
One of the most complex characters in this series. Ironically while he poses as someone without feelings, he might even be the character with the most love for someone, if you consider what he does for the person he loves... he feels so tragic. He sacrificed basically everything for Rangiku, but he failed, and he died before seeing that his goal was achieved. And to top it off, she even cries while he dies, the one thing he wanted to not happen anymore... maybe he still was happy considering he had the feeling Ichigo will win the battle, but still...
I love that the guy who was originally thought to have killed Aizen is a guy who was obsessed with killing Aizen. He is one of my top 3 characters in all of anime.
Same he is on my top 3 characters since 2010
He reminds me of Bleach's own Itachi. Was sort of a spy for the soul society all along with a plan to protect innocent people. A double agent that had to appear menacing to win Aizen over. Beautifully written and a tragic end.
@@Yellowshirtmann I was looking for this comment lol. Gin and itachi are 2 of my favorite characters in all of anime
I just noticed when Aizen stabbed Momo in the Manga the artwork of Kubo conveyed a slight feeling of sadness coming from Gin's closed eyes. He placed on his fake smile after Aizen told them to go. Also when Gin told Toshiro to keep an eye on Hinamori he gave Toshiro a heads up about how she's endangered. Looking back he's smile always felt forced and I noticed that he was slightly hesitant on following Aizen's orders.
Yeah I hate how people are making gin out as a evil character he commuted evil acts yes but it’s all that an act to be the perfect snake for aizen.
@Alex Geerts just cause you have good intentions doesn't mean what you're doing is right.
True love... he was willing to sacrifice all to her even for unrequited love. It is the highest form of love; unconditional, and he was willing to sacrifice himself for it in an even deeper since than life.
Gin is great. Definitely one of the coolest, most memorable and well written characters in the series. Excellent analysis as always!
Who else thought that Gin was the main villain of the series before Aizen showed up?
I always wished Gin had more screen time. I would love a spin off with him as the main character.
I think the biggest mistake Kubo made was not explicitly showing that, say a fragment of Gins Zanpakuto embedded in Aizens heart or latched onto the Hogyokou was the only reason that the sealing eventually worked. I think that was a missed opportunity.
Very nice... But would have taken away from the final getsuga Tenshou 's power
He had his eyes closed the whole time to prevent being under the influence of Aizen's zanpaktou.
I absolutely loved Gin before any of his flashbacks, because he was the creepy guy. It seemed like what he liked best was mess around with the people around him, just for the fun of hi, just to see that look on their faces. That final reveal ar the end was delicious, and it rounded him up as a character really well.
He is, to this day, in my top 5 Bleach characters.
Gin is my favorite character. I love tragic characters.
I also love how his Bankai is called "God Killing Spear" as it embodies just how obsessed he was with killing Aizen and how that obsession consumed his personality/nature
Gin is not a good man but he has a noble motivation.
Also when you think about it, gin was the first person to make aizen loose his composure in the whole series, second of course being ichigo.
You should do a video on toshiro.
He’s an antagonist.
No first was shinji. First person to injure Aizen
*you're finally at a level now where I can die and leave the rest to you* I love his final line of dialogue
Gin Ichimaru: CLICK. I love your in-depth analyses of the characters so much so I was really waitng for Ichimaru!
Justice but you failed me in a single regard. It is important to note here that Gin did actually Kill Aizen. The Hogyoku brought Aizen back to life and made him even stronger. Aizen feeling despair in his final moment before dying helped to trigger the Hogyoku.
I (a grown man) actually cried when he died. One of the most powerful moments in all the countless anime shows i've seen. Also the most badass character ever 😑
I wonder about that scene on the bridge with Rukia. Did Gin really give her false hope just to see her suffer? or did he know she had the hyogokou and that if she wanted to live, it would find a way to make it happen?
@K. C.
I was a happier man before reading this comment... Now I'll have that question lingering in my head whenever I revisit that scene.
Possibly a bit of both, but we do know that he was always a bit of a dick who loves to mess with people. He may have had ultimately good intentions behind why he joined Aizen, but he was still a pretty shitty guy who enjoyed other people's pain.
I think he was left an ultimatum because only his fangs can bare so much , even fate can’t wrap around the snake himself
Nah, he really was just fucking with her. He's kind of an asshole, he only cares about himself and Rangiku.
That would explain why she thanked everyone before she thought she was going to die except for Ichigo. Where before Gin's intervention she was resigned to die even after Ichigo came to save her before he was taken away by Yoruichi. Interesting play on: HOPE.
Gin is really a legendary character that's misunderstood pretty much the whole series until the arc's end. One of the saddest deaths in Bleach.!
I think Gin promised Rukia her freedom in order to test her resolve. Gin is the best at testing a character's resolve
There’s is a scene with Gin and Shinji Hirako when Aizen is obliterating the captains and the only person who knows Gin is not really on Aizen side is Shinji because of what Shinji says while observing Gin.
Which chapter?
Gin was always a mystery to me but man you really opened my eyes on how deep he was.
He really sacrificed everything just for rangiku wow
*simps be like*
@@relentlesschaos835 I mean to be fair Rangiku also chase him around like he owe her child support. u know... like:

The true unsung hero of the series. May the snake in the grass that was Gin Ichimaru never be forgotten.
Gin, Ulqiorra and Kenpachi are probably my favorite characters in the entire series because of the mystery around them.
That goes double for me when it comes to Kenpachi.
I love his relationship with Yachiru, they are the most unlikely yet beautiful father/daughter pair.
The thing I like is how his eyes are open I don't know why this trope exists of normally closed eyes individuals opening them. Yet it always stuns me how genuinely stunning it is in conveying a message/establishing significance in that one moment. It's also visually stunning dare I say beautiful that he opens his eyes when us the reader can finally "see him" as he is with his character arc closing.
Watched Bleach for the first time a while ago and I instanly fell in love with Gin and his creepishly shady demeanor . He quickly became my favourite Bleach character and even one of my favourite anime characters.Thank you for making this, it was awesome!
Where telling about their powers to enemies during a battle is a classic anime trope gin is one of the few who continuously lied about their power...thanks man for another great video...and who TF disliked this smh
I loved gin but i feel like we didn't get to see enough of him. Itachi was somewhat similar but got treated better in his show and we got to see more of his "good side" and him as a good guy.
Gin was never a good guy
yea it’s bullshit at the the time of his death the only shinigami stronger than him were the big senior 3, yama, shinji, and urahara. He was without a doubt a genius and one of the strongest yet he never got a real fight to actually go out. Such BS
If I were Kubo,
I'd let Aizen evolve into his butterfly form and fight Ichigo. Then Gin would assassinate him and actually take the hogyoku. Then Aizen uses a resurrectiõn (this would explain his next form).
Gin would survive but be in jail until the tybw, where he becomes an asset against the sternritter. He would defeat Giselle and fight bazz-b. Finally, he would die defending rangiku and toshiro from Gerard
Just leaving a comment to let you know how much I appreciate all the bleach content/character analysis you did. Thanks for all your time and effort, it's a joy to revisit old manga pages!
Funny knowing that Gin could understand Aizen more than anyone else in the series. Tousen, who had the advantage with his blindness, was easily manipulated by Aizen without needing to see Kyokatsuigetsu. I considered Tousen to be a canditate with the ability to beat Aizen, but the more we learned about Tousen, the less likely it became.
But Gin also seemed to understand the Espada like Ulquorra who was considered someone without emotion, Luppi being his "favorite". Wonderweiss was the only one that bothered him since he can't understand him. That modified hollow seemed to be the only one who knew Gin can't be trusted (I mean in Aizen's army. I don't think anyone in Soul Society trusted him besides Rangiku)
You could say he was "blind to reality".
He was a good commander
I have a greater appreciation for Gin now. I was mostly interested in Tosen out of the two of Aizen's boys. I usually wrote of Gin. Very interesting.
Otherwise known as the greatest character in bleach and a better itachi uchiha 😎

No he’s right. Gin really isn’t much like itachi. I’m not sure why people keep saying that

Thanks once again Gin, you a real one.
Amazing breakdown as always Gin definitely was a fav to me his obsession to kill aizen made me feel bad for him because he did so much wrong to do one good thing for him to fail at the end(well kinda cuz his talk with ichigo also helped in getting Ichigo committed to training and overcoming himself)
First time I came early in this channel. And its my fav character. I feel proud
Gin has always been my favorite character. Thankyou for such a phenomenal video on him.
I hope this isn't just lost to the comments..

"The more you love the more you suffer." Vincent van Gogh's quote here is mirrored by Kubo's poem and in turn Gin. "The road to hell is paved with good intentions." Or might it be the opposite for Gin? The road to heaven is paved with bad intentions? Taking the path to the equivalent of Heaven in a more literal sense I would consider the Soul King's Palace which was what Aizen was after technically so if Gin was serious it would be his objective too. Snake works fine, it's simple and mythological somewhat but I think Gin pretending to be the "Spear of God" or Aizen's Sword or Weapon only to actually be the "God Killing Spear" would be a cooler title, but that's just me. Gin actually did succeed in killing Aizen. *He just came back.* I'm worried I won't do my input justice for such an important character to me. Although I actually believe at a surface level Gin and his motivations are simple, and this isn't bad at all, of course you can get a lot more if you choose to learn of the "Snake" instead of simply being scared by it's rattling or hiss, or Gin's actions in this case. Simply put he wants to avenge his Love for something Aizen did that he would probably see as pretty casual compared to manipulating Momo, the Visoreds, Urahara, and that's respectable for the level of nearly equal attrocities for his selfish desire of what he deems important if no one else personally will avenge her. Not that it's something deeper like she's specifically ignored like a Tosen situation where people just blantantly ignore things because of status, *no one just really knows, and as far as we've seen no one really knows Rangiku personally.* You could say because they are both Rukongai no one would know, but that still feels kinda circumstancial, but this makes Gin, basically a peasant and all the more admirable for his "simplistic" revenge in my eyes. I would think the reason the spell on Rangiku wore off is because Gin was near death, Gin is actually quite proficient in Kido suprisingly... after this I actually just lost a large amount of what I wrote and am beyond heartbroken. I don't think I could re-write it all the same so I'm going to have to make a more rushed version in a separate part.
Gin was helpful in establishing a timeline for the series somewhat as he graduated around the time of 105 years ago of the story when Rukia recently joined. Gin has 2 parallels to others 1 which was pointed out by you, in which he's similar to Aizen. It could be argued Gin planned as much as Aizen in the same Subject as Ichigo as they were both introduced to him or what would lead to him at the same time. Gin was the actual most unique rival to Ichigo as compared to Renji, Byakuya, Ulq, or Grimmjow, he is the only one who Ichigo never beat in their encounters. Gin helped Ichigo grow but if we see it from Gin's perspective as the protagonist Ichigo was a backup to the task he initially saw as only himself being capable of doing. As opposed to from the reader's and Ichigo's perspective seeing Ichigo's weakness at the time as Gin having to do his Job, Gin in reality just pointed out something Ichigo desperately needed to address that was already there that was caused by White, he just did him a favor in forcing him to confront it literally. Gin's plan ultimately succeeds at the very last moment as his and Ichigo's eyes meet. I'm too sad to even joke of Zennosuke and Don Kanoji having to replace Gin otherwise even if Ichigo fails. Ichigo sees this as another life lost due to his weakness with his face I interpret as broken because of this in addition to knowing the cost of Mugetsu. Though he ultimately surpassed Gin it was only after he already died. He passed his task on to the one he always showed interest in the progress of his strength. I believe Rangiku if things didn't turn out as they did would hold some sort of love for Gin despite everything if not something akin to affection, his only real crime was bisecting Hiyori (which some might see as a service.) Perhaps Gin himself wouldn't think himself worthy however. Next parallel you don't see often and was covered in a way surprising to me was who Gin was most similar to in which it was stated Toshiro. The one who has more in common with him however is Renji. They both come from Rukongai, they both become Soul Reapers for a girl they grew up with and ultimately love, and they both seek to kill their (at one time) Captains with their Bankais. You could see it one of two ways. Both ultimately Fail with Renji living and Gin dying, or Gin succeeding in killing their captain where Renji failed but is ultimately killed by the one they killed??? That sounds weird. Byakuya serves as someone Renji sees as taking Rukia away from him where Gin wanted to bring justice to Rangiku but the circumstances were different compared to someone like Tosen who's class difference was the actual reason why he couldn't get Justice, Gin just as a byproduct of them being from the Rukongai no one would really know of whatever happened to Rangiku anyways, it's not like they were strictly ignored. Tosen might be the blend of both actually. Gin actually had a vendetta against Soul Reapers but I'd say that dropped pretty quickly. He only had something against Aizen, though Tosen didn't like Gin, Gin seemed indifferent to Tosen. Byakuya would ultimately be seen as in a position of someone who threatens Rukia's life with her execution ironically enough caused by Aizen improperly. Now for the section I started on but was lost which is the section of my final points and honoring of the character- I will never ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, EVER, understand why Kubo himself did not understand why people liked Gin when according to him he did his best to make him as creepy as possible, but I never really thought of him as such. This may be a fault of the Dub as in the Manga and Subs through word choice Gin comes off what some might call a "hick" in the Dub though, Doug Erholtz who also voices another Silver Haired Swordsman, and replaced the as of 20 days from now year late Michael Lindsay as Kisuke far before. May he Rest In Peace. Thanks to his portrayal at least from what I remember of it, Gin comes off as very cool and suave to me. I'd call him a prankster with some eloquence to him, not really creepy. When he gets serious though or whenever he opens his eyes which I find cool and beautiful the potetntial blood lust he emanates I suppose one might find creepy. His words as stated by Rukia are also like poison which is reaffirmed through his conversation through Ichigo, and ultimately this helped him grow. In my original writing I noted some of the scaling earlier which I will now touch on a bit here. I'm very iffy of the accepted arguement that Sneak Attacks bypass Reiatsu differences, the reason that supports this is also what I think calls it into question which is Soi Fon's Zanpakuto. Gin was clearly holding back against Ichigo, only using his Bankai for the 5-10x amp, he cut Ichigo. He could have used Korose but never did, he could have killed Ichigo at any time but didn't as he was a back up. Gin I'd say not even counting the scaling at the time had the fastest Zanpakuto, the reason he needed a Sneak Attack on Aizen was the same for any other series without Reiatsu Shields, in that if he attacked head on Aizen could have blocked or dodged. Gin downplays himself more than anything. I believe Gin was at least at the level to be within his and Aizen's power gap to be capable of hurting him if he just landed a hit. Combined with his speed Gin's Zanpakuto was and is a better weapon for assassination than Soi Fon's. Clyde did a video similar to the style you'll find on this channel on Byakuya I'd reccomend. Though for this part I'm sure tons of people will disagree. Mayuri is allegedly Kubo's favorite character and actually does the job he intended for Gin a lot better I think- he could have totally brought back Gin. If not him then Orihime. The aftermath of Aizen is covered in a Novel I didn't read too much of I think was called Death Save the Strawberry, in it some weird time limitation was noted of Orhime's power I think, but bottom line: Orihime brought back Tier who was in the same boat as Gin being someone who was under Aizen that was known to be cut down by him. She was revived. Why not Gin? It is known a number of things could contribute to bringing someone back, but one not present for Gin was what brought back Byakuya in fan outcry, which I believe could be one reason why Kubo might've refused to do so as he believed there were no fans or he personally just didn't care enough. Maybe it proves the opposite however in that Kubo knew Gin had a ton of fans, or maybe he was simply surprised Gin had fans at all. Regardless that's one of many reasons why he may not have done so, but it makes me wonder if perception of him changed if he would be eligible to come back. *I would take Gin over Byakuya in a second.* Both had their arcs "completed" and Gin's might be called more Tragic but an arc regardless. I don't think he wasn't neccesarily not given enough focus or anything, but I'm still left thinking there would be more benefit to his return than not, he could even die again for those who would believe he must do so, but I'd be very happy to see him in action again. His Zanapakuto is both broken and balanced at the same time, I'd love to see it used on Fodder or at least one important character. Then again with Renji it's been established any Bankai in theory could be lying of it's true Power, imagine if Gin had such a thing if he needed it? I'd like an Inari theme. Fox Tails instead of Spears. When I knew of Gin I thought for sure his Zanpakuto would be snake themed and not Holy Spear themed. You could even go for a Regalia theme or something but I think it would be great. Again coincidentally it's Renji who's Zanpakuto is Snake Themed, it would be perfect: An Ape with a Snake Zanpakuto and a Snake with a Fox Zanpakuto! What might Gin's Zanpakuto Spirit look like otherwise? A generic humanoid wielding a spear? I think the Fox thing would be cooler. I am now at the point where everything got erased...not sure how to feel. Everything prior was a rushed recreation and it makes me sound like a desparate fan compared to the well thought out reasonings and things I noticed that I had before...
My Japanese is god awful but Gin's full name I think roughly translates to "Perfect Silver One" or "Silver Perfect One." I know in script you can get different meanings but Gin means Silver, Maru means Circle or Perfect, and Ichi- Ichi means One. What was it Ichigo's first "real" opponent Ikkaku said? People with Ichi in their name are destined for greatness, this rings true as anyone with the word is "Number One" after all...Ichigo and Gin. Number One. A Rival who Ichigo only surpassed after Gin died, in a state he only attained thanks to him. They are Number One indeed. Gin also had a more humorous role too being in the Omakes for Arrancar Encyclopedia or otherwise. Kinda weird to think such a character in a role was killed in a rather tragic way huh? What else can I speak of? Ironically of the character I feel the same as right now. Izuru Kira. I want to say Kira is Gin's legacy, in both the Omakes I speak of and in my *least* favorite filler arc, it actually focuses on Gin's departure and the problems it caused, Kira only became depressed I think after Gin left and who can blame him? Squad 3 is Despair though. It's motto oddly seems to fit Tosen and Shuhei more than anything. Maybe that's why Kira and Shuhei are friends in addition to losing their captains. They both have a crush on Rangiku too...maybe they could fill the gap? Shipping is stupid at times but it be kinda interesting thematically if Kira who I'd say Gin has shown liking ended up filling the hole in Rangiku's heart left behind by Gin. The only problem at least to me is Kira is his own thing deserving his own video and write up. Mayuri brought him back as a Cyborg basically, and if this is the best that could have been done for Gin too I'd take it. Kira might actually have a literal hole in his heart as of now though. In one of the Novels it delves into the effect it has on him psychologically, feeling like a monster, not feeling confident as a person, and I kinda wish Kira could have had it a little easier, even if he learns to cope with it. When I think of Kira I always think of pre-cyborg Kira it's weird. I think of what I would call the "peak" of their happiness or Squad 3's we never see. In Death Save the Strawberry Rose, Shinji, (Maybe Kensei?) all have some touching moments with the people who's captains they are replacing, and with Kira I was very happy Rose seems eager to fill the gap Gin left behind for Kira and in turn the Squad. I'm despairing over the 4 Hours I lost writing a better version of all this on top of other things...parallels I guess. If Gin had a better legacy than what I can portray currently it was most likely lost with what I had before. Although...and though I don't know for sure. Supposedly Squad 3 planted a Persimmon tree to honor Gin and remember him by, it was stated they would eat them in the past that Gin made drying them. Gin was fond of Persimmons which apparently isn't common? Perhaps they simply fondly remember the better days of Squad 3 when Gin was Captain at the Persimmon tree(s?) that was always there? I did a lot of research in the original draft of this but wanted to not bother with lesser stuff like this. Plants are immortal don't you think? Seeds come from them even when they are stripped bare and that leads to more of them. So maybe it's not really gone. Not object or legacy. I don't know if I'd even like them as they look like Tomatoes but taste sweet? Maybe someone or I myself could plant a Persimmon tree to honor Gin.
Counterbalance of Power pertaining to the number one thing it would make a lot of sense that ichigos theme song is “number one”
great gob as always!! im excited in the next one
I think Gin is one of the best written characters in the series
A video about Gin Ichimaru in 2020 YAAAAAAS! thank you...
Gin is my absolute favourite character and I'm so glad to see someone understand him and produce a discussion that really explains him
Best CZcams analyst ever My mans knows what he is doing Gawd damn 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Gin Ichimaru will always be my favorite captain in bleach!
as always more fire content , i m loving all these.
keep up the good work man
This was a very good way to explain a show, especially to someone who has barely any knowledge of bleach. I appreciate this.
So from my understanding Gin could be called a Yandere because Aizen just hurt Rangiku.
The more of these videos I watch, the more I realize that Kubo understands the importance of character over spectacle.
Thank you so much for these videos, they are super interesting and inspiring!
Gin is my favorite character, this video is like a godsend
thank you so much
Gin's death episode is one of my favorites and one that made his character and that episode always come to the back of my mind when I think of bleach.
Gin, the rouge bad guy who turned on the good guys. Turns out he did all for the sake of defeating the one who hurt his childhood friend. But he ultimately fails after you start to root for him. Then, Aizen having newfound power causes everyone around to pass out under his immense power. Gin reflects on his life as Soundscape to Adbor plays in the background. The image of the once untouchable Gin, Aizen's second in command, laying there with his back against the rubble helplessly dying.
The thing I love most about Bleach is it's interesting characters and the situations they are put in. I never know what to expect in a person's background. Bleach had surprisingly well-thought out backstories for certain characters.
Damn I want Gin to have is own Novel or spinoff series!!! Great video and keep up the great work!!! :D
thanks for covering my favourite bleach character
Thank you for talking about Gin. He is one of the most complex and layered characters from Bleach, yet most people do not take the time to examine his motives or his character.
He committed terrible crimes, but deep in his heart, he did have love for one person and would do anything for her. In the end his actions only hurt her more and that was the last thing Gin wanted
Gin, my favorite anime character. It is amazing just how much i resonate with him.
You try and kill defenceless girls ?
@@marionarda2790 like who? 🤔
@@nemanjastikic1367 like Gin ! Rukia , Momo , Hyiori.
@@marionarda2790 I don't remember him trying to kill Momo. Hyiory wasn't defenseless. With Rukia he was in tight spot, shit happens.
@@nemanjastikic1367 hinamori was saved by rangiku . It was in the soul society arc. He was aiming at an unconscious hinamori during his short fight against hitsugaya. A kid for good measure . And hiyori was not even looking at him when he cut her in half for nothing. Aizen was in no danger , dont tell me he needed to be saved from the weakest person in the gotei here .
I noticed when Gin's Shinzo ran through Aizen he used it in a way that appeared to be holding the zanpakto backwards or at least 3/4 sideways. Anytime a character in Bleach used a maneuver that appeared as a high level of difficulty because of its first attempt in a real battle it normally resulted in damage to the soul reaper. Unfortunately the viewers didn't even know Gin was injured until he was in the alleyway. It would've been great to see Gin engage seriously instead of toying around. I wonder if Gin would've went to Captain Unohana for assistance with the Hohyoku in possession but, sadly, just like in Gin's appearances, they were all short. No matter the anime if a character has a powerful weapon it will only been seen briefly.
Absolutely amazing DBZimran keep it up man your amazing
he made a turning point for others and fulfilled a future for the one he loves most … Rangiku abit selfish , he cared so much he gave everything without a thought , oh I love it
The rukia part, u got it wrong. Gin pretended to wanting to help her just to make her realize that she does want to live and does want a way out. So that Hokyuku will follow her will to live! 💜
Also, Gin only killed bad people so he was in no way devoted to revenge to the extent to loose sight of justice and good.
I guess imma just do a video about Ichimaru taicho myself 😂
Thank you for this version💜
At first
"Oh shit gin killed CPT aizen"
Then
"Oh shit gin killed aizen"
But now
"Oh shit aizen killed CPT gin"
YES! My all-time favorite Bleach character! Great video!
Really really good video. Keep up the good work!
Could have been my lieutenant....
Oh please kisuke you would leave him behind or let him become a visored
this dude is low key Orochimaru of Bleach
the only similar thing abOut them is that they both are SNAKES nothing more tho
@@mistywoods6560 the looks, speech patterns, betrayals, they bought give off the same vibe, have a theme with snakes,do i need to keep going?
AGENT Leo gin always has his eyes closed so not looks also gin was a good guy in the end so the betrayal can be crossed out
AGENT Leo he is the itachi
@@-tafari6517 then Orochi maru aslo turned into a good guy at the end, he works as a doctor or something on boruto and at the end of naruto, and the damage was already done when he betrayed everyone, it's not like he can take back everything he did or everyone he killed
Man I love these videos please keep making more!
Amazing reviews, you deserve way more views! Also I truly hope you analyse Tosen sometime,he's way too underrated
People need to see Gin as Sauske. Hes what's known as Avenger, he did all he did to restore Rungiku that's it. He never actually took any enemies seriously except Aisen which is very similar to Sauske with Itachi and Naruto. I love Gin hes my 3rd favorite behind Mayuri, and Uqiorra
Only Gin was a better written character. And more likeable.
@@zemox2534 and most Naruto fan say Kubo is a bad writer. He manage to make a secondary villain(?) look much better and interesting than a second protagonist
I'm a bleach guy all the way. I'm just saying Gin is very similar to sauske in the avenger category. Sauske is a better fuck you kinda avenger where Gin is the silent snake.
Gin was not one of the villains he never was in my eyes. I more saw Aizen as sketchy then Gin. The MoMo thing gave Gin away.
Even my friend who just started bleach saw it coming.
Love Gin but still Mayuri is the best character hands down.
@@zemox2534 I like both but I prefer sasuke more.
@@sarveshnathan7559 Respectfully disagree.
Gin, Unohana, Tousen, Stark and Ulquiora were wasted potential characters imo.
Ukitake
Crazy how Shunsui killed Stark... I get he’s a arrancar and an enemy but from the start he said he didn’t really want to fight
@@shironage he had to do it because it was his duty
i disagree on ulquiorra his character was handled well
I don’t think Gin was wasted.. I feel like that little for me was enough
Snake eyes is such a good name for him. Amazing videonas always
Proud of have called my cat after him. My beautiful silver boy, a Russian Blue. As soon as I saw him, as a Japanese person, the word Gin (meaning silver) immediately popped up.
And of course, was followed by Ichimaru Gin's face.
I love the lyrics from Ichimaru's song Hyouri.
I can´t say things that I don´t feel
And I´m bad at explaining myself
That´s how it is
That´s how it is
I don´t draw my sword easily
So other than show my careless smile
I can´t become anything
I can´t become anything
In that place, at that time, I was always sincere
However alongside what´s deep in my heart
Is the opposite
The opposite...
Just imagining what he feels each time showing his vicious smile to others as a cover for his real feelings...
Just the greatest character 😪
I really liked this video, sat and did some stuff while listening to this and watching it was nice
Going through the manga panels in this video reminds me of how much I love the way the manga looks and the character design.
