  • Ichigo and Aizen heavily contrast on their journeys towards transcendence, as the main protagonist and main antagonist of the series. In this video I will explore this contrast and the ultimate message that can be taken from this first half of the Bleach.

The acceptance of one's instincts and emotions to transcend to the point of complete balance in order to crush your opponents allowing you to protect yourself and your loved ones vs the rejection of one's nature by fueling the will of power that transcends the understanding and limits of lesser beings.

You snapped bro, something very odd of me is that i didn't even clock the actual meaning behind number 5, but Aizen is my favorite manga/anime character of all time lmaoo. And yeah this fight is also my favorite fight in Bleach, the symbolism behind it + this fight feels like big moments with heavy impact back to back to back, which i love.

Great video. Ichigo vs Aizen is my fav Bleach fight too. Building up since the Soul Society arc, the whole Arrancar saga reveals some key info and develop Ichigo and Aizen in a way that the final fight feels so conclusive and cathartic. I am a huge propagator of revisiting your fav pieces of media and I hope you do too. There is so much to love about Bleach, especially on re reads. Not to say it's perfect. It's definitely not.
I also loved that Ichigo is the only one who hasn't seen Kyoka Suigetsu. Alluding to the fact that only Ichigo is the one who hasn't seen the caring and loving side of Aizen as compared to other Soul Reapers who have seen both sides of him (that's why you will notice every time someone faces Aizen, they always emphasize on "you are not fit to be in Gotei 13". Unohana saying that in Soul Society arc, Kisuke ripping off Aizen's Lieutenant badge in TBTP flashback arc, and Toshiro/Soi Fon stating something similar in FKT arc) Ichigo is the only one without pre-conceived notion about him and has no established moral highground over Arrancars. But he does have pre conceived notions about fighting and his own hollow. Fighting is bad right? Failing to understand that fighting is just another form of communication. The way he changed so many people in SS arc through fighting, and the fact that he can sense people feelings by clashing swords. And when he let go of that, he takes another step towards self actualization.
Keep it up dude. Can't wait for next one

In a way, Ichigo trying to reject his hollow represents him rejecting the self-preservation part of him. After-all as Byakuya said during TYBW, it’s not much of a victory if a swing costs one’s life as a result.

Watching this helped me look into their fight deeper once again. The details added once we reread Bleach are really something that gives me pride and astonishment. The additional context and understanding as we discourse and go back to reading kubo's stories feels so fulfilling

let's gooooo you love to see it man, great video!
For me the mugetsu kyoka suigetsu thing comes down to ichigo slaying the moon (sui-GETSU) and thus shattering the illusions Aizen put upon himself.
And also an interesting thing is how Aizen says to ichigo that his power wouldn't work on him anyway in the final battle, implying that enlightened beings can't be affected by illusions.
I find it curious that Aizen is surprised that yuha is seeing ichigo as an illusion, meaning that he doesn't have control of what people sees? At least in this instance, maybe he has a passive way of using it? Yuha seeing ichigo and toshiro seeing aizen in FKT may mean that people under kyoka suigetsu are more akin to see things they desire (related to the chinese poem)
Idk man, a lot of things to dig here😅, idk if your next bleach readthrough will be on stream or ytb videos only but be sure i'll be there! You're always pertinent👍

3:27 He didn't realize it nearly as soon as you're showing it. He only understood that in Everything But The Rain and The Blade Is Me. What allowed him to transcend is accepting Tensa Zangetsu's blade, i.e. understanding his wish to protect Ichigo at all costs, even if it means going against Ichigo's will.

After so many Bleach videos, the story gripped me more and more. When I saw Flame of Rebirth (ichigo finally ascends) and talked Abou5 the Blade is Me. it solidify as my Favorite story ever.
I also was confused on how many video's ragged on Bleach. Until I figured out the connection. Kubo is a tortured man or has experienced something raw. Its upsetting to be compared with One Piece and Naruto. Kubo gave us the world of Bleach. A boy fighting monsters, having to awaken his own monster and not understanding himself. This story isnt a standard jump story. Gintama for me. Gintoki and ichigo have a similar they both lost someone important, didn't realize how much he wanted to protect. To then ultimately die for his world

I would challenge Ichigo trying to get rid of his hollow powers all along. If you look at the first few times the mask appeared, Ichigo wanted to keep it. His instinct towards it was always positive until OTHER people put it into his head it was a thing of evil to be discarded. Even when he met Zangetsu for the first time, his expression wasn't fear in my mind. It was confusion and questioning, as if asking "Okay, what exactly are you?"
Also Isshin being a totally useless fuckstick and not telling him anything that might've helped recontextualise things and give Ichigo some perspective until everything already blew up in Ichigo's face, costing hundreds if not thousands their lives.

Is it actually stated Aizen has a bankai because maybe it was assumed because of how talented he was that they assumed he has bankai. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't cause of the whole neglecting the blade thing you're saying here. It was once thought that ichigo and kenpachi are in permanent shikai but that then later was found out to be false. I have to go back and read all of bleach to find the aizen and bankai statement

Up until Dangai Ichigo vs Aizen, Ichigo started his journey to unserstanding his powers by deceiving himself into thinking White was not the power he needed to protect his friends before accepting him as a part of him. Meanwhille, Aizen deceived himself into thinking he was untouchable and rejected his humanity for more power for the sake of himself and no one else, resulting in him losing everything, including his zanpaktou. Both characters, of course, do get a rebirth of their powers, with Ichigo getting a proper weapon to represent his hybrid nature and Aizen being able to use Kyoka without a zanpaktou in the TYBW arc.
