Loved it! The old-style vhs-like filter for the godot one was actually quite cool looking! :D Also surprised to see Rick using Unreal :o the traitor! 😂
@@bobmiller6658 Dont forget to take your meds
As always super fun - everyone made something super cool! (one hour is soo little time 😭😭)
Yall managed to create more content in an hour than some game devs do in months…
Hype hype hype! I have so much fun doing these and helping put them together! Hope to do more of them :)
Loved this series, always excited to see a new gamedev competition video! My favourite level has got to be Rick's, the asylum with the haunted lake house is excellent!
He was the most naughty with his scope creep!
Rick knows about 3D Booleans, he now has infinite capacity to create, but destructive potential beyond his wildest imaginings
This was fun to watch! Great job on each of the engines. All scenes were great but I like the creativity of the godot scene the best.
you need to do these more often i love watching these from my favorite helpers
This was a fun watch. Seeing the different ways you guys were able to create within such a short time span
Really cool tips from Rick.
Thank you all for the challenge.
I once did a horror level in Unreal and the lightning is definitely the most difficult part to get the right mood, this was great learnt new things from the 3 of them :D
I love the comments, the sarcasm, all the fun you have in each of your videos!
Personal option GODOT needs a direct selective feature add-on for blender design functionality.
This was great. I was laughing at multiple points throughout the battle. I wonder how this concept could be expanded on 🤔
Unreal and Godot simply have different niches, Godot is
definitely better at prototyping and general productivity in my opinion, but Unreal is packed full of some cool features.
And Unity...exists.
Luckily for the Unity guy, he didn't have to put the game for people to download, so it didn't cost him anything.
i thought they reversed that
@@rawphaw they did but unity haters dont want to hear it
@@marsguy2200 yeah except it wouldn't cost you anything to put out a game with Unreal or even Godot (Godot is open source so you wouldn't pay regardless). Also your comment doesn't make any sense lol. Just because they got rid of the CEO doesn't mean the board of directors won't consider doing it again. NO one is hating on Unity. We hate the fact that the company even thought about making that crappy decision in the first place.
@@user-vt7it1iy6j you can also release unity games for free + i dont think they would ever try do it again
Wow! I'm very surprised this was achieved in just 1 hour. Very impressive!
It's funny to see how much godot is struggling in 3d xD
this is so fun . thanks for making this series
Glad you enjoy it!
Always find these enjoyable… much friendly banter and silly editing
Boolean intersections @3:03? That's what I've been looking for!
I used to create all sorts of stuff in Unreal back in the UT99 days, and I absolutely loved the "subtract" function (a tool to subtract a shape from another shape). Missed it like crazy when I got back into UE last year. Now, this boolean intersecation thingy seams to be the same thing. Will use it. Probably a lot more than I should 🙂
You can use subtract with BSPs in UE5
@@smokeythegamer69 Thanks, I'll have to try that! 🙂
can you guys do one for modeling. like Blender vs Maya vs 3ds max, or even their forks.
Man I love these. But I wish it could be a full day of development so the engines can shine a little more on their differences. Or at least 3 hours.
BRAM IS INSANE BRO
I’m so jealous of unreals cube map feature
By the way, can you guys do a UEFN and Verse course. I'm starting to check it out myself and am teaching my kids about it. But I could use some help. lol
Nice, Rick is using Unreal. 👍
Rick goes where the community tells him to!
I think the challenge should start on the desktop. So everyone got to open the engine and create a new project as fast as they can... :D
Oh god keep up this format... the banter is epic! I mean unreal....
1:22 Finally a way to design objects that I understand, the.. uhm... "modelling" mode. Shout out to "Minetest" btw.
Nothing inspiring about Unreal. It looks the same just like what we have in the market. Nothing new to see. I like the Godot idea, looks clean and is just interesting to see.
Bram! There you are! Where have you been on your channel, dude?
Sorry, we hijacked him. You can't have him back, he's ours now. :-)
It is more about devs creativity, not the engine caps. They can make a horror game in RPGMaker just as well.
Great! More videos like this please!
Wheres rick's chair at
Standing desk!
We don't let him sit on the job ;-)
Do a 2hour next!
Can you guys do Gamemaker next?
Godot definitely won this one
Let me guess ur just talking out ur ass because you use godot😂
As always
@@_palemanGODOT for sure lost the fps one
No, my godot 2D fighting is good.
Bad 3D 😅
My comment got deleted apparently because I'm seeing notifs for these other goobers
Waiting for a 3d rogulike course in unity. None on the internet. And would give you the opportunity to teach procedural generation, permadeath , etc.
Omg!! I have to wait!! 😭😔
If it was 3 hours you could even split each hour up in another video for more content. Plus show off the engines more.
This is too much fun. Game jam style.
Answer which Engine has the best prototyping tools: The one you are most familiar and comfortable with.
In unreal you can grab several items. Pull them up and press the "end" button and all will be on the floor.
how did they make that 3d pixelated effect in godot?
Its a SubViewport with the 3D scale cranked down to 0.25 😊 You could do the same in project settings but it makes the editor blurry which makes life tricky 😅
@@BramwellWilliamsyeah making low res games is super easy in godot compared to unity or unreal, if you want to make the whole game low res you can literally just change a couple of project settings under the "window" tab to change the display resolution, an added bonus of lowering the actual resolution instead of just using a pixelization filter on a full res screen is far better performance too naturally
I sas hoping we'd get a sort of wrapped up thoughts and conclusion.
I mean, from the usability he said that Godot is not good in that regard, but he still nailed the level. Mean while Unreal has a lot of tools but its also overwhelming and he attached the stairs and lose usability on the way.
If you don't limit yourself to built in editor tools godot gets way more usable for level design because you can use the qodot plugin with trenchbroom which is basically like a standalone version of probuilder but way better (in my opinion anyway)
@@jlewwis1995 good to know, thank you
love this
The guy using godot seems to be restricted by godot lackluster level design tools, and instead relies more on his creativity.
Imagine what he could have achieved if he used Unreal or Unity.
OMG lets goooo
Despite Godot having less tools to make stuff, the level made has a lot of charm to it.
Unreal feels more realistic with high detail but it ends up generic and Unity feels halfway between them.
I could honestly see Godot being used to make some really good looking retro levels. The example giving me a strong silent hill vibe at the start, I might start using it since it had less problems running for me than the other two. Only thing I dislike is the sharp corners; is there a way to smooth the edges in Godot?
jolt physics or rapier 3d physics
All editions of the Sims are prison edition. We've all done it
But you never put a sim in a room with no doors to see what happens when they needed to use the bathroom right? Right?
@@Gdevtv Of course I didn't. I also certainly didn't build a hedge maze with a fridge at one end and toilet at the other. It would be barbaric
Guys why you dont use blender for 3d models like house and all 3d models and stuff is more easy
I wanna wood beam! 🤣🤣
I heard someone say ' I used pro builder'
Please elaborate...
op-
i also loved the jokes
I really like the Godot one the best
🔔
awesome ahaha
Sims: Prison Edition😂❤️
Wooow.... My favorite game dev instructor was cheating.... 😂😂😂😂 Yet Godot still wins
next time challenage a roblox game developer.
Comment for the algorithm
The Godot guy is clearly a better level designer, I bet he could make amazing stuff with Unreal, it really feels like Godot limits him.
Godot runs circles around Unreal in terms of developer productivity and just shipping a damn game.
GO DOT, GO
Godot > Unity
Finally not that gorka guy
*Unity Win!... Flawless Victory*
Go Godot!
Unreal ftw
I am biased but this definitely wasn't fair since it's 3 devs and 3 engines.
We all know Godot won❤
scariest part is that someone's still using unity 😂
I still use Unity, no plans to upgrade to Unity 6 though. The 2022 LTS will probably be the last version of Unity I will be using.
good, come over to the unreal side, we got cookies@@Ozzianman
What game developers
mn
Different devs will mean different games...it's not even a fair comparison UNLESS all three games are made using all three engines.
a Godot developer has an unfair advantage of using the engine that was made solely for prototyping
Ghorka Games is the Ghost
Red rover red rover bring Gorka back over!
