- Most single car garage doors do not have the important bracing necessary to keep the top panel strong and to keep it from bending or buckling inward. If you've got a garage door opener on your single car garage and do not have the support across the top it needs, then it'll eventually bend and crack it. The opener pulls from the top center and you definitely want something there to strengthen the section. Two car garage doors have this installed standard as it is provided with the purchase but on a single it is normally an additional item. This is why its so often neglected.
