FYI - Purchased this laptop back in 2018 and swapped the M.2 256gb SATA (6GB/s) drive to a m.2 NVME 1tb (key slot M.) and the drive was reading and writing around 1.3 GB/s. much improved from the 600MB/s. and the new boot times are about 3 seconds. You might have to buy a m.2 enclosure to clone your m.2 to your new one. I purchase both a WD SN550 Blue 1TB NVME (if you want faster speeds go with a Samsung EVO or WD Black) and a SSK Aluminum USB 3.1 to M.2 NGFF SSD Enclosure Adapter. Then used Macrium Reflect free version to clone the NVME. worked great.

This is great. I had gotten as far as removing the screws but chickened out. Soon, I will be replacing the conventional hard drive with a superfast SSD. I upgraded my ancient desktop (which had a cheap SSD) to 12 GB...this ancient desktop opens up an image in Photoshop in 22 seconds, and effects are pretty much immediate. Opens up 2 other pics simultaneously right away. My Acer SP515 with 8GB and Core i5 takes several MINUTES to do the same with the same, latest PS 2020! I think the SSD is main reason. Four-times faster (than the SSD I have) 500GB SSD's are now around $80. That's a saving grace since my memory is also SOLDERED to the motherboard--which can handle at least 16GB.

The convertible PC here doesn't have a conventional hard drive or an SSD. See 2:18, it's NVMe, which it quite fast as far as I know. There doesn't appear to be room for an SSD in any case. The model I have already has 16GB RAM as well, so no upgrades for me (A better GPU would be nice, but I assume overheating would be a serious issue).

@@Vinnie002 Looks like NVMe is even faster. Unfortunately, my SP515 has a conventional drive. Crucial.com has recommended SSDs for it, and I've read others' accounts of upgrading. I believe I can even add the SSD in ADDITION to the regular drive--as some offer that configuration. I'd hate to add to the weight, though...

has anyone ever had this problem whit this laptop? Mine tries to go into sleep mode (screen goes black), but it doesn't fully go into sleep mode, because the fan cotinues to spin and the led on the side stays blu, when this happens it is impossible to wake it up, neither with the keyboard nor with the touchpad and the only thing that I can do is to shut it down by pressing the power button and losing all my work. I tried updating the BIOS to the lates version, disabling fast boot, switching to linux but nothing worked. nowadays i just set it to never go to sleep and i just keep it charging but it's really frustrating, I've had this laptop since 2018 and in all these years I never figured out how to solve this problem. I checked ACER community but even though some other people had the same issue the answers from other users or ACER was always useless.

Where's the screen rotation sensor? Some of this products sometimes don't recognize screen rotation to become tablet, or rest as tablet with keyboard and trackpad disabled.
