thank u it was an excellent presentation for spine 5.
the channel has been subscribed to and the staff has been bought.
Thanks for the great review!
The 3:2 screen is a huge plus. Hoping more oem use this aspect ratio.
What is the benefits
@@Khalid353123 more vertical space , for office work or others.
@@jonisin5498 but not good for CZcams or Netflix
thinkpad is using one now, ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga, even lighter as 1.15kg
Thank you for showing the Linux compatibility and your reviews.
Hey Lon, what controller that you used there in the video? Looks good
Lol. Way to review something the very day I already researched and called acer asking about this very product! Great review 👍 Thank you
best explaination ,i hv ever found.
Can you please review the Acer spin 2022 laptop that came out in July? Thank you.
Great that you checked out Ubuntu, btw it was ahci or optain the ssd?
Can’t wait for ryzen 7 on this spin!!!
Curious: the usa acer site says 2xusb C 3.2 but no mention of thunderbolt , did you actually test speeds and eGpu? Would find this really interesting.
Lenovo flex and hp spectre have abysmal Linux experiences BEWARE. And the 3:2 is godsend too for productivity
How does the Spin 5 compare to the Yoga C940?
Is this better than the swift 5 (2020) for video and photo editing?
Hey Lon. Can you review the ASUS
ASUS ImagineBook 14" FHD ??
can I charge the laptop using the thunderbolt port instead of the pin charger?
I see the new Ubuntu 20.10, which came out today as of when I'm writing this, is supposed to have improved touchscreen support, so perhaps this machine is among those supported. I do see that there are simple workarounds to solve most of the issues on Linux. I understand, Lon, that you're just checking the out-of-the box experience when you try Ubuntu, but this one looks to be quite usable after making a couple of small adjustments for those who don't mind doing that.
He is cool and smart.. I have this acer spin 5 and I love it..
Where can I buy display replacement for sp513-54n-74v2 in CA USA
I saw this computer on a amazon sale, and I’m highly considering
lol ME TOO!
Will it ever have intel xe graphics
Man, I would love a 15 or 17 inch 3:2 laptop. That would be so nice for reading.
Hey Lon, what do you think is better this Acer spin 5 model or the HP envy x360 that you reviewed some months ago?
I want to buy one of those, I want performance and built quality.
I bought mine last Friday. I love it! I just hope that it last long for my school work and media consumptions.
Hello, what was the price?
In my location it’s $1000
Was it an i7 version at 1000 dollars?
No, it is only the base model
How has it held up this far? I am considering getting it for university
Um, they actually announced _today_ that the updated version with 11th gen Intel Tiger Lake CPUs are coming, Feb 2021 in the USA and earlier in other countries.
So there is that.
December in EU. Definitely buying the Tiger Lake one. I was surprised this was 10th gen as the updated version is just around the corner.
Where is the 11th gen? It's almost May 2021.
Several old October 2020 articles mention a Feb 2021 release in North America. But I can't find a single place to buy it, or any articles mentioning any delays. Not even on ebay. Oh well, I guess I'm just forced to buy the 10th gen.
@@drivewayy
Probably delayed due to the pandemic and chip shortage/supply issues.
I have a Acer Nitro 5 I have had it for maybe a week how do you get Alex to function through the laptop? Alexa is built in but when I say Alexa she doesn’t respond
reinstall alexa
Hello
Do you know a stylus that is compatible with this laptop? I bought a refurbished unit without a stylus. Acer doesn't sell stylus separately.
Thank you.
TOSHIBA AES stylus with 2 side switch, perfectly work
I've been thinking about getting this but I just found out Acer's got an 11th gen version coming out in February. I might as well wait for that one. The only downside is the 11th gen one will have a 16:10 ratio instead of 2:3, but not a dealbreaker. The thing that's irking me though is the bloatware and the keyboard/trackpad experience.
That's not correct.
The updated 11th gen Spin 5 will still have a 13.5" 3:2 screen. It says so right o their website that has been updated post Next@Acer 2020 October product launch with references to the version with Iris Xe graphics, which is the 11th gen CPU version.
Pretty sure you are reading info about the new Spin _3,_ which is getting a new 16:10 13.3" display.
@@Mamo878 Well that's a relief. Thanks for the clarification.
Can you upgrade it to 2TB storage?
Can I have ur what's?
9:31 Let's appreciate that tis guy is playing GTA V wth a SNES style controller, a real gangster
Quick question, in terms of video and photos editing programs, how does the laptop performs (for example: Adobe suitcase)
Video editing yeah i7 should be ok !!! Good to know for sure
Can I run OBS on this? Thank you.
yes
Lon, I would say for a grand this is pretty impressive. However being a Dell snob the XPS I believe still offers a better experience once you hit this price point. Still for being an Acer it's impressive, and impressive value. Just once you hit a grand what's a few more hundred for a much better over all experience?! That's my point on this. Acer is a fantastic brand in the lowend, I've not seen many of their computers priced this high, yet for the money an i7 and 16gb of ram in a 2 in 1 form factor. That on it's own is impressive.
I tried the Dell XPS 2in 1 in a store and honestly I was impressed by its built quality but it had the worst keyboard I have ever encountered on any laptop, even worse than the Butterfly one from Apple. Travel was nonexistent and my fingers immediately started hurting. Other than that the price of the Dell was 700Euro higher, I paid 1100 for the Spin 5 with i7,16gb,1tb. The Dell did feel somewhat higher quality since its made from carbon and aluminium while the Spin 5 is made of Aluminium-Magnesium.
@@Proagrassiv Yeah, the newer XPS 2 in 1 doesn't have what I would consider the best keyboard, last years model with the more traditional screen layout was a lot better, but honestly I never buy a light and thin for it's keyboard or I would go straight for Thinkpad. The issue with that then is the screen. You really got to high-end with Lenovo to get a decent screen. I've used their Yoga line, but their 1080p is nothing like that of the XPS. They really want you to go for that 4k option and the price on that is insane. The last one I used was $2300 retail. You could buy a very nice bussiness focused laptop for that
Is the camera of this laptop nice?
It's shown in the video
Is the pwm flickering really bad? other reviews found with screen brightness less than 100% it has extreme screen flickering = eye strain + headaches. acer used a worse panel than expected.
I wasn't seeing it but the flickering was very visible on camera at lower brightness levels.
you can turn off pwm. I did it on mine.
@@Proagrassiv How you do that besides keeping at 100% Please teach me friend!
@@peichanyee1219 search "acer spin 5 pwm fix" on youtube
@@Proagrassiv but is this safe by injecting some random files?
does this have a backlit keyboard?
Yes
Mines doesn’t
new one announced today.
personally I wouldn't take anythign under a 1tb in stirage if this is between 32-512GB ubuntu or simular linux distro, something within that within the internal storage capacity within the 11, 12-15 inch billed as a 2in1 should have a bare minimum of !TB in storage because these windows is so bloated you be lucky to update it once before you brick it
Is Ram or ssd upgradeable on this one? Thanks
@@darcinakin ssd i was talking about
I don't care how small of an installation windows may have the issue of space OS and its various updates will terminal space 1TB would be a bare min for windows 10 though for breathing space 2 tb AND HIGHER.. would be the recommendation for storage..
Ram on the other hand 16-32GB is about standard for a gaming rig though if you got the cash 128gb-1TB seems to be the norm for the latest video editing suites..
As a developer, I prefer ultrawide screens.
Sporthírek 📺
disappointing, not one drawing example with the stylus
Disappointing you didn’t make it to 8:16!
@@LonSeidman I think he meant actual drawing instead of writing with the pen and its pressure sensitivity...
I've been searching for a drawing example of this model. Noone has done it. Ben G kaiser said the drawing is ok, not great..
The bottom is plastic.
Not worth it. For graphic designer
A lot of money for no dedicated gpu and only a quad core.
Most laptops don’t have dgpus at this price point. Most ultrabooks are quad core
@@Christstand4 many have at least an mx350 or GTX 1050 at this price.
A 6 core is doable in an ultra book, too. It's overpriced is all.
@@Droogie128 I don't know of *any* 2-in-1 devices in this size category that has a dedicated GPU, do you?
@@kkobayashi1 talking about laptops in general. This one is just overpriced for the hardware.
Surface book had a dedicated Nvidia gpu, off the top of my head.
This thing just isn't a good value for the money.
My god Linux is so hit or miss. smh
"Intel Inside" - no thanks.
