Olly heads to Honda HQ in the midlands to have the Timing chain changed on his Honda Civic Type R EP3. Although there is no real need to change the chain in this K20 engine at this time. Olly decided it was worth doing for peace of mind and as preventative maintenance because the car has done 121,000 miles. Whilst the rocker cover was off, Olly also decided to get the valve clearances done to bring them back into spec. This has actually made a huge difference to the responsiveness of the engine and has made general drivability much more enjoyable. Once all that work is complete the Genuine Honda X Mugen Rocker Cover can go on. This is something that transforms the engine bay and gives it a new lease of life. This, paired with the Skunk2 low profile washer kit has given the engine bay an extra bit of spice.

Wow! This is unbelievable! Thanks for checking out my content. I really appreciate it!
Excellent Video mate, your civic is evolving into something special.
Thanks!! Really appreciate that. My vision is coming to life! Haha
Took my EP3 there recently for similar work, the Honda HQ boys Dan and Matt are awesome at what they do, honest garage, good prices and they take pride in what they do👌
You are absolutely correct there! Top work from them! Glad you had the same experience as me!
Just had a load of work on my car done at Honda HQ, brilliant guys and price. Thanks for the recommendation!
That is epic to hear! I am glad you are happy with the work too!
Great vid Olly!
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Nice video mate .. definitely know where I’m taken mine in for a chain now and I’d have to travel pretty far but for those prices 🤙
Thanks man! Yeah, it is worth the trip up there! The Honda HQ guys are super friendly too! It's a double win!!
The EP looks amazing Olly!
Thanks man! 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻
Great video mate. Liked and subscribed. Planning on some mods and more videos for my FN2 but this rocker cover is now on the list 👍
Thanks man! Really appreciate the support! Yeah, it is definitely worth it and not as expensive as you would think for a genuine Mugen part (even cheaper with my discount code too! Haha)
Great vid, very interesting, not bad price at all! Cover looks cool, I’d be crapping it to taking the paint off😀
Thanks man!! Yeah, very reasonable pricing! I am glad you understand the pain! “Yeah sure, I will just pull this brand new Mugen product out and modify it” haha
Great video lad!
Thanks man!
Great lads the hq chaps 👌👍
100% man! Awesome guys!
Decent price, gunna get hold of these guys!
Yeah man! Definitely worth it!
This video helps me ..I may also have a skip timing.
I am glad I could help you out. Hopefully your engine is ok
NICE WORK MATE. change your intake manifold ( only thing in your engine bay which doesent look good). RRC manifold would be a great upgrade ( i currently have one on my EP3 and its mapped)
Thanks man… maybe watch this space… 👀👀👀
I want a rrc manifold as well for my k20a2 i am wondering if there is hard modification to do would be awesome to have a vid on that
Mines at 97K so might get my chain done ..I’ve noticed EP3 s are getting rarer to find on the roads which is a good thing 😂😂
They certainly are! Prices are going up and the rust keeps on spreading! Haha
@@OllyRoss 😂😂😂🤙
That rocker cover is a FN2 one it has the holes at the end for a bracket and they have Honda motor company on them
Yeah man. Designed for the Mugen FN2 concept car. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@@OllyRoss honda did do a limited fn2 mugen. One for sale the 6k on clock for 18k. Think the uk got 200 of them. They where also white. Great video by the way.
Yeah they did. The M200. This isn’t from that. Check the article in the description for the car I am on about. Pretty interesting read and a shame that Mugen didn’t make it. It’s fully stripped out in the back too!
@@OllyRoss cheers for that, I will have a look. Sounds interesting. Have to say, your ep3 is all starting too come together. Nice to see you taking your time on it. Most people seem to just put it together, then move on to the next best thing. Still think you should try get some of the best Ep3s together and do a video. 👍👍
No worries! Thanks man, It has been a slow process but I am loving how it is all coming together! Yeah, I might have to do that. I would love to get them all on a track or private road to do some head to head tests as well. Unfortunately I don't have the funds for that at the moment.
sick vidddddd
Thanks man!!
hello buddy quick question where is honda hq mate thank you great videos
They are based in Cannock. I left their links in the description if you need to find out more 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
You should replace the intake manifold with a RBC intake manifold
Watch this space... I may have something in the works...
Hiya can anyone share some advice please 😫 Was flying in vtec in honda.. Changed gear and its like it went bleughh now vtec kicking in at 5k where as before 4k/just over and dont have the speed it used to? Making me feel sick encase ive fucked something major 😫
Which motor oil are you using?
Why not replace the standard intake hose? a red silicone hose makes all the difference to the engine bay
Maybe that’s coming soon… 👀👀👀
Hey man, have you had any issues with the paint you took off the Honda writing? Any surface corrosion spots on the exposed metal?
Nothing yet. But that is something I am keeping an eye on
Where can i get this valve cover ?
There is a link in the video description to it
I've used them years
Completely understandable! Great place to take the car!
Should have slapped some drop in cams in it while it was in bits
I thought about it… but I can’t do everything at once now can I…
@@OllyRoss true but wouldnt it have been easier and cheaper in the long run, if you had the cams done whilst having chain replaced. Then done the cam cover yourself? Just a thought. Looks well though
It would and I nearly did do it. But I’m looking at it from a content perspective too and it gives me more videos in the long run
@@OllyRoss Ahh I see. Keep em coming olly
Thanks man! Gotta give you something to watch! Haha
🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
I’m here from the cash banoka guy
That Cash Banoka guy is pretty great!
How much did this set you back mate? looking to get my one done. Great Vid BTW!
Honda HQ charge £340 supplied and fitted for the OEM Honda timing chain and tensioner. Pretty reasonable price that! Thanks for checking out the video!!
How about the valve clearance price? Great video amazing car you have there!
Whats happening with ur old rocker? Selling
Probably going to hold on to it to be honest
Can this process be done in 1 day, I live 3 hours away from them 🤣
Yeah man! I was nearly 2 hours away. I slowed the process down by filming it too! Send Honda HQ a message on Facebook if you want to know more 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@@OllyRoss dude! Can’t believe you replied! Congrats on the S2000 awesome car, I’m looking into an EP3 to have along side my S3 8L.
Can you replace my chain lol
