Not one time watching these films ( I'm 65) did I ever feel racism or derogatory thoughts about anyone! Wasn't raised that way either. I wish we all would have learned to be better than we were in the past. Every ethnic group contributed to our history and we should be richer for it.
Never destroy these old films. We always learn something from them.

They taught a generation that people drop dead immediately when shot or knifed and no need to get a doctor. These detective movies were so dark, half of it would make a better radio show than a movie. The Nero Wolfe Mystery tv series was much better than this, with Timothy Hutton and Maury Chaykin, and a group of actors who played different parts in each episode as they would in the theater, very smartly written, captured the era very well. It's too good. Keeps me awake. :)

Richard Elliot also, who's in numerous films and TV shows. He's the man sitting on the porch, iterating "Youth is wasted, on the wrong people", to Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed, in"It's A Wonderful Life". Plus, he was Mayberry's, first mayor. This works about 99% of the time. You have to push the timing all the way through to the finish, then push the rewind signal. It's easy & free.

There are no big stars in this low budget film. But enough solid, recognizable character actors. Many, early in their career. EX: The murdered Govt. Agent was in a lot of 50's TV westerns. And John Harmon who plays Eddie the hotel clerk on The Rifleman. And a bum on Star Trek episode "City on the Edge of Forever". (Who disintegrates himself with Dr McCoy's phaser.)
If this was a Columbo episode, we would already know, in the first 5 minutes, who the killer is. Then, according to Fran Drescher (episode of The Nanny), we spend the rest of the hour trying to figure out which of Falk's eyes is the real vs. glass one.
