Synopsis :- When three bank employees are killed with cobra venom, Detective Chan recalls an oddly similar case ten years earlier in Shanghai. Benson Fong and Mantan Moreland, return as Tommy "Number Three Son" Chan, and Birmingham Brown.Chan first appeared in Biggers' novels and then was featured in a number of media. Over four dozen films featuring Charlie Chan were made, beginning in 1926. The character, featured only as a supporting character, was first portrayed by East Asian actors, and the films met with little success. In 1931, for the first film centering on Chan, Charlie Chan Carries On, the Fox Film Corporation cast Swedish actor Warner Oland; the film became popular, and Fox went on to produce 15 more Chan films with Oland in the title role. After Oland's death, American actor Sidney Toler was cast as Chan; Toler made 22 Chan films, first for Fox and then for Monogram Studios. After Toler's death, six films were made, starring Roland Winters.

Born in 1960 I grew up watching with my dad, RIP. loved the black and white and the manners and respect, a different era, I think we could learn something from our past. Toler is great as CC.

I love all these movies. I watched them growing up, and I rather watch these than the newer stuff, lol These black and white movies were awesome
I'd much rather have these than any of the new stuff they call themselves making today. Even with their inherent flaws, still far better then what they can dream up now. At least these movies had a sense of style.

Simpler time. Charlie is based on a chinese American detective who worked for Honolulu police in Hawaii. I think his name was Cheng Apena. During Prohibition, he arrested 50 people in a speak easy with only a bull whip. He was doing an undercover investigation. He was a lengdeny detective.
So cool to find out Sidney Toler is buried in my hometown, cool series and history rocks

Well here was one Charlie Chan movie I had to watch twice I kept on missing parts my heads in the cloud I’m moving you know what that does your head when you know you got to start packing boxes but I still got my movie and Charlie Jen you’re the best now this was a good movie another five stars no matter what🌟🌟🌟🌟

I been binge reading Charlie Chan comic books from the 1940's. Now I see this film serial, here. They did a good job re-creating the characters from the comic and the family squabbling. . Thanks for posting !
I'm a poor speller. His name chang Apena. He served as policeman and Detectve 1898 till 1932. It said cheng was stabbed six times and ran over by a horse and buggy. But he arrested people who committed those crimes.

I love these movies. I do not draw anything as his religion or race. I look at Charley Chan as a person and or a very intelligent person. And at worst a just a way to question the world.
Hated Charlie Chan movies growing up in the 70s. Now i fall to sleep to these old movies every night.
That was fun. Thoroughly enjoyed movie.
Fox's Chan movies were A pictures. Monogram's were cheapie C pictures which would never make it into a major theater, except maybe during the kiddie matinee. But they made money.

Isola watching Charlie Chan as a kid but I could never understand they had a real son as a Oriental why couldn't they get a real Asian Dad to play the part as well I guess it's just like that old kung fu show same thing I got a Caucasian a player Chinese guy when they could have had Bruce Lee play it my have times changed somewhat and I'm only referring to that god-awful stupid movie The Last Airbender😅😅😅 but thanks for the upload I enjoy going back in memories and nostalgia as a kid watching these shows back in the day

If you projected this Hollywood 1945 movie - as it was made to be; ergo in Cinema-mode - it would be better ! This wasn't shot to be shown on Widescreen - as you are doing it now - since it destroys the Forties format; ergo the way we older people saw it at the cinema ! Why must you change, and spoil everything like this ! Widescreen had no place in this genre ! Added to this,s who wants to see people with distorted legs as if they were in a Coney Island distorted mirror ? How darned dumb could anyone get ? This was movie was made before Michael Todd left grade-school !
Do not like spreading the film because it makes for spreading weight image of actors. Everyone looks FAT! Not enjoyable at all. Of course, I am a fan of the film, Sidney Toler, Mantan Moreland, and Charlie Chan films despite this W i d e W i d e Screen technique post filming.

Poor copy, headache-inducing incorrect aspect-ratio, splash in upper-right is so bright compared to the dark b&w film that it ruins contrast. AWFUL!
