    How does annotation with a stylus compare between the Kobo Sage and Libra Colour? Colour is not a must-have for me. My eyes are nearly 70 years old, so the 8" Sage panel is a plus. Stylus input is also a must, and I'm wondering whether the faster Carta 1300 display on the LC makes up for the slower dual-core processor vs the Quad core cpu on the Sage. Last but not least, what is the difference between the Sage's Stylus vs the Stylus 2?

I fell in love with page turning buttons and I can't understand why Amazon ditched the concept since 2019. I think kobo might be the best software alternative to the kindle universe, but ended with the new Pocketbook Era Color instead. • @NatalieRath
      @NatalieRath Před 26 dny +2

      Oh. Okay, I got to the part where he talked about overall brightness.
      Generally, the tech behind color eink is a filter of sorts. So everything is dimmer overall compared to black and white. You will need more ambient light to illuminate the device. Works super well outdoors, indoors with minimal light. You will need to turn on the brightness to compensate.

    • @brownwallet942
      @brownwallet942 Před 26 dny

      @@NatalieRath Yeah, exactly. I have reacted the same way. But as I've said some people in Reddit are saying that direct sunlight doesn't mitigate the contrast of the Kobo Color which gives me an impression that it's unreadable outdoors. @@brownwallet942 I've seen some of the things people are saying on reddit as well. And from what I'm getting at, it's like they expected it to be like an LCD or a OLED screen. I'm not saying all are saying it in that way, but ya know. I did seen someone else said that there are just people out there that prefer to read at 0% brightness and those who are like that hates bringing up the brightness for any means. So if that doesn't bother you in any way to adjust the brightness then it shouldn't be an issue.🙂

      @@Serena9978 thanks for the reply. I'm definitely ok with using the frontlight. Glowlight feature is a frontlight right so meaning, it won't be necessary to use outdoors when the sun is already providing it more than enough light. Some of those redditors insist that it's unreadable outdoors since the screen is dull. They came to that conclusion by comparing it the regular Libra. I mean sure, the Libra 2 has a whiter page because it doesn't have the extra color filter inside, but to claim it's unreadable outdoors is ridiculous. They're so stubborn and sway people to think this way by showing comparison photos of the Color to the regular one, that anybody who doesn't know the difference between backlight and frontlight would believe them

    Lol price. My onyx boox note air 3c which is a 10.3" screen was $500 then I bought a case for $30 and a extra pen for $50. I still would rather have that. But I loved my Kobo h20 and I'm so happy they put out a color model. Too bad it was a month after I bought my boox. But I wouldn't take that purchase back I love my bigger screen cause I do journal on it.

  • @Tenferenzu
    @Tenferenzu Před 26 dny

    The 'brightness problem' is a general problem with all color screens since the added color layer makes the b&w layer behind it harder to see and therefore needs more light to get to the same viewing experience as with a pure b&w screen. It should be especially noticable if you have two devices with the same carta 1300 screen next to one another where one is pure b&w and the other also has color. The Kobo Clara has both options available. For someone who does videos it might be a good chance to compare the screens and get some views on CZcams.
    For all people who are here searching for the review of the new Tolino, which is the brand Kobo uses in Germany/Austria:
    Sobald die Geräte im Thalia verfügbar sind können wir uns vor Ort ein Bild von den Bildschirmen machen und müssen keine Vergleichsvideos kucken :)

    Who buys a device like this and only reeds for 30 days? let alone has time to reed during the day when you could get away with the light at no more than 30%? This is a widespread scam in the e-reader world. All manufacturers give the same BS about battery life. They need to be called out more often. I'm not saying the battery life is bad, but I'm willing to bet I could got though it's entire batter in a weekend.

    Everything is "very very cool and fun" but then you also say you don't really use the features (colors outside of covers, annotating or notebooks). Let's be real that for 90% of people colors and pen(in a device this small) is pretty pointless and they could spend an 100 € less. Even if you read graphic novels, reading them with dull colors on such a small device (while the usual graphic novel have a page that's at least 10") isn't really ideal. This is something new (at least for the major brands) and i get it feels cool but in reality you're spending more for something that you probably don't need and actually worsen the quality for normal b/w reading.
