    It's funny because I both have a kobo and a kindle, and the fact the light is more "dim" on kobo is one of the major pro point for me ahah

    Built in feature of Overdrive on Kobo devices makes this a great device for us Canadians. Our libraries do not work with Kindle, as it does in the U.S. Nice to see another colour Kobo!

    It’s also great for books written by chefs who also include recipes and photos. Also, art tutorial books. All these books get really heavy and take up a lot of space. This is where it’s so useful to have a colour e-ink.

    If Amazon came out with a color e ink device identical to the kindle app experience you’d have on say an iPad, I would runnnnnn to buy it! I love the option to change the color of the pages, it just makes the reading experience so ideal. It unfortunately doesn’t seem to be a feature on the Kobo. I’m still considering buying this because it’s so affordable. Great review!

    Hey there.
    Thank you very much for that.
    My e-reader broke not too long go and I'm looking to replace it.
    I'm not really in need of a colour reader but I know kobo is releasing the Clara BW at the same time. Any chance you'd be able to make a review of it too?
    I can't find anyone talking about it and I think it'd be really interesting to get more Intel on that 3rd e-reader they announce.
    Thanks a lot again.

    • @millernerd
      @millernerd Před měsícem +4

      Reading comics is basically the only situation you should consider a color e-reader. Though idk how well it'd do considering the size.
      The reason is that color e-readers are drastically dimmer/darker than black and white ones. They typically need the light on constantly. Look at some comparisons of other color e-readers.

      Color e-readers just have this problem by nature of the tech. It's usually only recommended to get a color e-reader if you're a heavy comic consumer.

    So what are the pros for color e-ink in this screen size? Anyway 99% is going to be just plain text, I don’t see any point in reading pdfs at 6 inches. And for $150 with kindle basic plastic…

  • @WolvenBolt
    @WolvenBolt Před měsícem +47

    I would just like to say that when you described rhe colors of being "very very vivid" and they "pop out", this is false. They are washed out and equivalent to newspaper colors. This isn't bad, it's quite nice to see tbh, but describing it as popping out and vivid is ridiculous and misleading

    • @gabrielbrina

      True!

    • @crvenom
      @crvenom Před měsícem +18

      Vivid and pop out for being an E-ink screen it's not misleading. He didn't say as vivid as a tablet/phone

    • @WateryFire
      @WateryFire Před měsícem +9

      Colours by nature pop up. They are vivid if you're in a black and white world. Colours on computers etc. are artificial and don't resemble anything real so I suppose they should be described differently, lol, intense, extra shiny or something.

    • @shehuehue
      @shehuehue Před měsícem +6

      I get what you mean and I too don't find the colour to be vibrant, but he also showed us the screen in the video, we can judge the colour ourselves, and it's fair if he finds it vivid. So technically he wasn't misleading.

  • @lewis9950

    I so cannot wait for Amazon to release their color e-readers. Even though I’m not a fan of Amazon as a company overall, they do have a chokehold on me when it comes to their ebook ecosystem. If it weren’t for that, I’d gladly switch to Kobo. Yes, I know there are ways to move kindle books over to Kobo but it’s a tedious process imo and I really don’t want to have to go through all of that.

  • @2noelle
    @2noelle Před měsícem +2

    I may have misunderstood, but when I borrow ebooks from the library, it automatically shows up on my Kindle. I use the Libby app and there's an option to read with Kindle and it's seamless. So, the Kobo isn't the only ereader to do so.
