      I wish I could say this was my idea but it was not. Mike Quist, the president of Stone Coat Countertops called me and asked me if I wanted to fly up there to play around with some new projects he was working on. We did his father shower together and I was blown away. We played around with a lot of different things and experimented, it was a great time. It’s always fun learning with people that are willing to share ideas with you. Thanks for the comment and have a great day!

    I must be weird, but I'm going through a phase in my life that I'm starting to hate the look of wood and marble. I've pretty much got rid of all the wood look by just painting over the wood everything. I even used your method of painting cabinet doors! I actually have an old 50's dining table with the "cracked" look top of linoleum and chrome edge banding with a worn patina. I replaced all vinyl floor tiles of black marble look with vinyl floor tiles that look and feel like real stone.
    Yes, I've always followed a different drummer.

    • @paulstoolbox
      @paulstoolbox  Před 3 lety

      Nothing wrong with that my friend. We all go through changes in taste, if we didn't life would get pretty boring. I always keep an open mind when designing a new look . I remodeled kitchens for over 20 years so I learned that change keeps things interesting.
      Have a good night and thanks for watching!

    • @paulstoolbox
      @paulstoolbox  Před 3 lety +1

      @@crazydoglady5 Good morning, This is not vinyl, it is epoxy. This is used for bar tops and countertops because it dries hard, they have different scratch resistant coatings that go on top. I used the natural stone one for this but they also have a gloss. On my next surround I will not put the because on walls you don’t have to worry about scratching as much as on countertops and I liked the gloss look better for this application. If you don’t put the topcoat you definitely need to do two coats of epoxy, one for the color mix that I showed and the second one is a flood coat. That will make this super hard and strong. I hope this helps, have a great day and thanks!

    Going to have to give it a whirl Paul. Nice no BS presentation. Like your style and great pointers on the painting vids with dry knit roller and mixing polyacryrilic. Just spent umteen hours stripping paint off oak cabs then sparkle and sanded the bejejeezs off them forgetting mask again now dealing with sore throat hoping sinus infection doesn’t follow-as usual. Ya think a guy learn now being a senior having owned a custom log home company. UsedBIN shellac prime and have SW cab paint so will try your poly trick and update ya with pics. Next crown then figure backsplash detail. Then going need think of something for 12’ countertops being old laminate. Happen to have sheet of 1/2” Formular in garage so will use your epoxy rap making panels for bathtub shower walls. Happened pick up earlier couple boxes of vinyl peel/stick tiles looking just like appearance of ones in your vid so should match. As I’m trying looking up at next vid Epoxy Countertops over Plywood so looking like a solution for my countertops be right in front me. Thx pardnr!
