All I’m gonna say is you guys are going to love book two and three
master airbenders have the arrows, but if youre not a master and are just average at airbending you dont get arrows
Zuko just rolled up and nearly soloed the entire Kyoshi Warrior's group, while his soldiers got destroyed.
Then Aang easily took out Zuko.
This is a pretty good example of the world's power structure.
You have the normal people, the elites like Zuko who can take out any number of normal people, and then masters like Aang who can take out multiple elites.
The Main Characters you will see over the show are all basically demigods compared to the average person in the Avatar world.
And the craziest thing about all of this is that fact that EVERYONE (benders) is capable of that destruction. Of course you have the few who learn new skills and what not, but even a novice can cause the same amount of damage as a master, in terms of raw power.

Although Aang isn’t really the best measurement of power here because, like he says so himself, no one under 100 years of age has fought an air bender before. No one knows the limitations of their powers or how to counteract them, so they all end up looking like bumbling fools when fighting Aang, since he’s always got that trump card.
That’s also why I see a lot of reactors underestimating Zuko because they think he’s weak and a bad fighter, when in reality it just looks that way because we mostly see him going up against Aang
The arrow tattoos indicate the rank of Airbending Master. Aang was the youngest airbender to ever receive his master tattoos. To earn them, he had to master all the forms and invent a new move (the air scooter).
Appa is a manatee-bison hybrid. Momo is a bat-lemur, with mannerisms patterned after a crew member's cat. The Fire Nation mounts are komodo-rhinos. Most of the animals in this world are hybrids. You've already seen tiger-seals and otter-penguins in the first episode.
"Unagi" is the Japanese word for fresh-water eel.
Master all forms ~or~ invent a new move. It's an alternate path to mastery to acknowledge skill in creativity rather than just skill in technique.

@@mohammedraihaaan2251it's never going to be explained in the show. Vaguely implied at best, so it's fine. One of those expanded lores from creator commentaries, books, info pop-ups in some show reruns, etc.

I’m with you, I loved watching Aang’s air bending in season 1. But he’s a master of air, and you haven’t seen masters of the other elements yet. I’m really excited for you both 😭
I think Sokka’s ability (and willingness) to aknowledge he was wrong about his prejudice is commendable.
Though it is true his starting point is looooow.

4:00 The show doesn't tell you this but only master air benders get the tattoos. Also nobody seen the air bender in a 100 years so they have no idea what to look for.
Aang actually probably didnt have many crushes back 100 years previous, though he did travel around a lot, the air nomads were split into genders and trained at different temples. (I only say cuz its not show spoilers and its never mentioned)

This was my favorite episode from season 1 because we were introduced to Suki.

Zuko uses breakdancing moves because the VA, Dante Basco (aka as Rufio) was a breakdancer, so they incorporated those moves for him.

Fun fact. Kyoshi is the avatar that lifed the longest I think. She got 230 years old xD
I didn't want to say that before but i think you guys need to pay more attention. 😭 I think you think bc it's a "kids cartoon" it's okay to speak over it and you won't miss anything, but that is not true. ATLA has some great details that you would miss if you didn't pay attention, obviously. Especially in letter episodes and books.
So far, nothing much has happened. They need to pay attention only from episode 7.
Unbelievable that they got rid of sokka's sexism in the live action because it was "iffy".

The arrow on the head have only the airbending masters. It means Aang mastered airbending at a very young age.

This show starts out slow and predictable but I would say coming ep 12 things are getting really interesting. Later the show gets to a level where it is in my top 10 fav shows of all time and maybe my fav animated show ever.

You're talking too much during the show, guys. Please pay closer attention to the dialogue. It's frustrating for me when you miss a good punchline. Save your comments and questions for the end of the episode, or simply pause the show.
