Kyoshi island teaches Aang he’s got to keep moving or else he’ll put those he’s with in danger. You two are catching the themes and points in each episode. Love it!
You guys noticing Bumi right away is why I watch this. As a kid, I was blown away by the reveal. Looking at you guys pointing it out just from the eyes though? Real sharp.
@@suzu8253 I am thinking one of the Indian languages, but it could be more than one language outside of the country. I just know it's the same name for the Hindu goddess of earth, and means "land" in Hindi.

15:58 I am so glad you pointed that out. In the first episode, he did something in the forbidden ship; in the second, he caused a mess in the village and wrecked Zuko's ship; in the third, he almost blew the southern air temple in avatar state; in the fourth, he acted as the sole reason to Kyoshi Island getting almost incinerated; in the fifth, this happened.
One cool detail about earthbenders is that they generally have to be connected to the earth to manipulate it. Hence why most earthbenders you’ll see in the series are barefoot.
I like the idea that the challenges were primarily to see how far in his avatar journey Aang is .. since the first one would have been easy solved with Water Bending, in the second Earth Bending would have made things easy as well ... and the third the fight as Boomi said was to test the fire in his hearth ....
I love this episode! I don't know if I realised as a child that the old king is Bumi, but still haha The series has sooo much nostalgia for me, and it's still holds up perfectly well, I've watched it several times over the years!
I knew that was Aang's friend Bumi because of his lazy eye. Bumi must of done something right for him to live that long. "My Cabbages" was done 3 times in this episode starting a great joke.
Spoilers for Netflix adaptation Anyone else just hate how they just ruined Bumi? Changed his whole character from understand that it wasn't aang's fault to completely blaming aang for every bad thing in Bumi's life.
I haven't seen the LA but that's lame. The entire point of Bumi here is that he's a mature and aged old man and gone far beyond Aang in this respect. Happy to see his childhood friend is still alive and able to give him wisdom
Yeah, that’s the episode that make me entirely stop watching it. Bumi was never one of my favorite character tbh, but his and aangs friendship was important, and they absolutely ruined it in the adaption, and for what??? What he did and said in the Netflix show didn’t make any sense anyway.
Y’all can dislike the Netflix adaptation but this is just stupid this is not at all what happened in live action show Yes Bumi didn’t like that Aang disappeared but his main focus was trying to make Aang understand just how dark times were while he was gone. He made tests to see if Aang was ready for the responsibility of saving the world and tried to make Aang understand his pov. The war had forced Bumi into self-reliance and solitude as he had to make all the hard decisions so Aang’s lesson at the end was to teach both of them that Aang didn’t need to rely on himself to shoulder the responsibility like Bumi because he had friends. Bumi was not angry at Aang, he was bitter about the war that he had just spent the last 100 years of his life fighting, of all the sacrifices he has to make. Y’all can dislike what you want but if you’re going to have criticism, atleast make them accurate
Tbh idk I ever played Ratchet & Clank… like it’s a game I was alway very well aware of as a kid and I wanna say I use to play but I also don’t have any specific memories of playing it. However I do have quite a few specific memories of playing what I’ve always thought of as being a very similar game… which is Jak and Daxter.

In my language, "Bhumi" literally means earth/soil. So his name fits very nicely as the earthbending king, lol.
What language is that?
