    My guess is that an elderly or sick person with no family went to the hospital with the intention of returning but they passed away. You should find some mail or paperwork with names and do some research.

    • @UnchartedTravel
      @UnchartedTravel  Před 7 lety +27

      We looked for things like mail and such inside the house with no luck, we tried googling the address as well but there wasn't much we could find on this place. We are still looking and will update the video if we find anything!

      Another way of finding ownership info is the local county clerks webpage. oftentimes they will offer online services if you create a free online ID.

    • @kamiko70
      @kamiko70 Před 7 lety +13

      there is always information at the county clerks office, or the tax office. if they paid taxes even once, the basic information about the property and to whom it belongs to should be public information. if they dont have that info, they should be able to tell you who does.

    Being the state it's in, I'd say that they were either evicted and couldn't take everything, just the bear essentials. Or, as it would seem they are Polish (with the Polish text), they could have been deported? They obviously didn't have enough time, and needed to be out of there pretty quickly. Great video guys!

    • @rpierce7004
      @rpierce7004 Před 7 lety +2

      Yes, but that would be stealing, wouldn't it? An "abandoned" house usually is still owned by someone, say, an older person who was put in an hospital, a bank, a trust, or a relative who inherited it, but maybe can't afford to get to it yet, to clear it out. It doesn't give someone the right to go in and take the things inside. If the house has back property taxes due, and those are not paid, sometimes you can buy a house from the town if you just pay taxes. Literally for just hundreds of dollars. If you want the shit inside do it the right way.

    • @heru-deshet359
      @heru-deshet359 Před 7 lety +1

      Let me repeat. "truly abandoned houses". I work in neighborhood
      designing and smart home building. I came across a house that was about
      to be demolished and had many large collectibles. I asked if I could
      buy one of them. The foreman at the site told me if I could truck them
      all out in the next six hours, they're yours. It's classified as
      demolition. This included all the beautiful architectural features of
      the house.
      One can easily look at land records to find out what properties are abandoned and owned by the state. They will languish forever until someone decides to build a public building on the site. That is not stealing when you go the proper channels and take the time to carefully remove everything. It's less work for the state.
      If it's private, you can offer to get everything out/off, sell and split the profits with them if they agree. If I were to do this as a career, this is the way to do it.

    This is my first time watching you guys, and I am very impressed with your camera work. Very steady, except of course for the Fridge parts (😁).
    Reading the comments below, I do tend to agree with the person that commented about the possibility of the owners having gone into protective custody...because that would explain the reason that you didn't seem to find any clothes, pictures, or paperwork with personal information on it. It would also explain the reason that it seems that the house was abandoned so quickly.

      Indeed! It's always nice to explore a place that hasn't been ravaged by others! And I believe the house was originally constructed to split into an upstairs apartment (where we entered from) with the attached attic that was boarded off, and a downstairs apartment with the main floor and basement. But the owners seemed to have just used it as a regular house.

    Another good video. You guys are funny. I hate to be picky but please try to reduce the number of times that you say ‘ here are like some boots’, ‘here is like a desk’. They are boots and yes, it is a desk. Sorry, just a pet peeve of mine.

    this happens quite a bit in apartment buildings as well. elderly people live in a unit, and no one notices they died, until they havent paid their rent. this has to be listed at the clerks office, due to taxes owed on it! if they did auto payment for taxes, no one is going to notice, until one of their kids come calling for money and cant find them! its sad really.

    Places like this are family owned homes and more often than not theyre left like this because the owners have died and have no family and the house will sit like a "time capsule" until the city buys the property or it falls in.

    It's possible the owners went out and didn't come back -- a situation beyond ones control. Or the sad eventuality of so many seniors, an in home accident, a bout of recovery time elsewhere and death. So sad to leave your home one day only to never return.
