The Annoyed Mr Floyd a prosperous developer could take this on easily . Make a good deal . Demolish it all after salvaging the valuable stuff and selling it all at auction and then divide the land and sell it off in lots or as one whole big property for a profit.
Yea but imagine if you could fix that and rent it out for a few hundred a month per room as apartments. If you think about the average home costing 300-400k that place is a steal.
Wonder how much of that US 3 million is fees to dispose of the rubble.
Looks old enough to have asbestos on pipes, maybe in wall panels etc, so more cost?

Just gotta think about how exploring these places and posting it comes with a responsibility to demonstrate safe practices. These places can be way more dangerous than they look on these videos with all kinds of bacteria that could be very harmful to any exposed skin.
Opening up all the fridges with no mask was also smart...
The mention of bed bugs alone would have kept me from going in, those bastards can live for a long time!

One more thing. When you see a lot of glass like that, a decent size chunk could easily go straight through a shoe. I was tearing apart a glass shop, basically a month of heaving glass into a dumpster. Thought I had a piece that got into my shoe, It was a large chunk that went through the sole like it was nothing. I've smelled fridges like that too. Had to dispose of one. Threw it out a second story window to not have to take the doors off to get it down stairs. There's another motel that looks just like that one, except completely destroyed.Uncanny even. I'll link it if I can find it.

I've worked in the restaurant equipment repair industry for almost 30 years and when you see a consumer stove and fridge you know the owner is extremely cheap, or the restaurant is almost bankrupt. Comercial grade equipment costs thousands more. Or the owners ran a kitchen in the third world and have no idea what health codes and regulations are over here.

any equipment not NSF rated would get written up at health inspection. It takes a lot of effort to keep refrigeration equipment in perfect working order in a commercial kitchen. Some cultures just don't get it and refuse to follow codes.

Asbestos is usually the reason for closure. They also probably lost their liquor license and judging by the kitchen, numerous health code violations. Fun vid.
Usually with asbestos they just close it, gut it, replace, and reopen. My high school had asbestos removal going on when my mom went there.
This was built in the 1970s when asbestos was banned

This was probably the ideal place for them to br unprepared. Everything was undamaged inside, no vandalism or hazardous decay or fungus. All good!

Jeezus. If this is how it was left, no wonder they got health code violations! That place is disgusting! You can see they were re-using old milk jugs, plastic disposable containers, and egg cartons. Bleh!!! You can tell that whole place was run very sketchy.

The municipality could clean these places up to house the homeless - and to save money train some of them to help with the cleanup.
I completely agree with you, the problem is that takes a strong dedication, commitment and effort from the municipality. Sadly, most city & town officials(governors, mayors, etc) are all talk and no action, they say they want to help but don't want to put the time and effort in to something like this.

I looked at the TripAdvisor reviews of this hotel, and yes, it was a horrible, disgusting place even when it was open. No wonder they had a "no refunds" policy - all but the most desparate of guests would be asking for their money back.
Too bad it's so expensive to demolish this lot.
As someone who makes vaporwave music, those Thai cassettes are a one of a kind find.

When they first enter the kitchen, the equipment you see to their immediate rights are the heat pump air conditioners that would have been used on some of the rooms for a Motor Lodge Style motel. Apparently the owner is cheaped out rather than pay to have them removed and the freon pumped out, they probably crimped the line shut cut them and then move them to inside the building, because the freon stayed on the premises they didn't have to pay the Hazardous Materials fee or defined by the state for disposing of Hazmat improperly. Which in itself could be tens of thousands of dollars

I doubt putting them in a hazardous environment is a good idea! Plus, it will cost more to make it safe then to build a other building. It's a shame, yes, but everyone deserves a safe health situation.
