It had nothing to do with the concessions imposed on Germany for losing WWI ("haha!" -Nelson), and nothing to do with the Jews positions in society (heavily involved in money, banking etc) which he resented them for, and nothing to do with him being a complete nutcase with 2 left testicles. I've been on both sides of this. I've been the one to give advice to people who asked and the one to receive it from someone who's got more advanced skills than me. And I've caught myself after receiving good advice when I went and said "I don't have time" "I'm too busy" etc. etc. Finding all the excuses in the world not to study and put valuable advice into action. But I think a lot of that comes from me feeling lost and being unsure about what direction I even want to take professionally. So I kept hesitating because I'm just not sure about anything.
    I've found your videos/channel while doing a really unpleasant crunch for my last job and I needed someone/something to listen to and not only have your videos helped me not to lose my mind while crunching but they've also got me thinking about... who I want to be as an artist. I think my problem right now is I'm not exposing myself enough. I'm not really putting my art out there for others to see, and in turn I'm not getting the help I need to improve. It's only recently that I started posting my work on Reddit, and I'm currently working on a commission right now. Listening is only the next thing I need to do, the first thing I need to do in order to succeed is to open myself to the world.

    • @zinzolin14
      @zinzolin14 Před 4 lety +1

      @@lemonwedge5209 I think that just comes down to the balance of what you want to draw and what your target audience wants to see. Once you figure that out, draw that particular thing more often and you'll see yourself improve. It's takes time to gain a following, so you have to be patient.
      I finally started an Instagram for my art last week. It's really small right now, but I feel like I achieved something just by putting myself out there. Everyday I can see at least one new person come in to look at my art. Now I'm just hoping I'll run into people who will provide feedback and advice.
      Personally, my goal as an artist is to improve my abilities. I'm not looking for hundreds of likes and followers, although they are incouraging no doubt. I think it's important that any artist show confidence in their skills, whatever level they are at, and always strive to be better.

    Good advice can come from anywhere, "Out of the mouths of babes..." to paraphrase the Bible. Which goes hand in hand with, "Before you can remove the straw from your brothers' eye, you must first remove the Rafter from your own."
    Applying these two together would mean to listen CLOSELY to others, and to take time to think about how we can use any given advice. Even if it comes from a source we wouldn't normally think about, or even if they are hurtful words to us.
    This was another great video Adam, with far too many good points for me to cram into a single comment. I know first hand you've responded to plenty of my comments, and as always I would never expect a response. Everyone is busy, especially working professionals... and even more so Teachers. In an hour long class with 30 students you can only maybe answer a handful, and that's just a typical classroom not to mention university or online classes with 60-120+ students.

I put myself as a beginner artist, there's a lot of foundation that needs to be worked on, but trying to find actual beginner artist things online (I'm talking basics of basics) is so hard. It could be, by the looks of it. I'm not sure about sources (I'd just say "look at more of his art because AFAIK he was very unique"). I often see people (strangely?) comparing him to HR Giger, although TBH I think he's only vaguely similar at best. Both are too unique to really compare to anyone else IMO. You look at any of their pics and you know immediately who made it. So Beksinski is probably the single best source for Beksinski style.
      If he's like Giger in that he talks about his art in his artbooks, then maybe Beksinski spoke about some of inspirations in books.

I get positive feedback from other artists, but clients tend to feel my style is too ‘dark’. I’ve tried changing subject matter (drawing things other than demons) but it doesn’t seem to make a difference. I also get a little irritated because I don’t aim to have a style, I just try to draw the best I can. I’m also colorblind and I sometimes wonder if that has anything to do with it as I work primarily in graphite and pen and ink.

      Of course I don’t want to diminish your feelings Tamaar, but rest assured the way you feel is almost universal for all of us. We tend to feel we suck and everyone else are geniuses :)

      @@AdamDuffArt No worries, i really appriciate you commenting on my comment. It`s hard for everyone to find thear place in the world. I just sometimes feel like if i knew what i wanted to do with my art moving forward things would be better.
