    I'm going through a "rock bottom" moment, myself. For years I've been looking for a new job after I was made redundant "due to the economy", but on the whole, no one wants to hire me. Most of the places I apply for don't even bother to respond to me, and those that do, tell me I have not been selected. It's been depressing, to say the least. Writing cover letters felt like my soul was being drained.
    But now, despite having no income, I've decided to focus on what I know I can do... be creative. While the world is under quarantine, I am keeping myself busy by creating craft work to sell once the virus blows over. I am also focusing on writing and artwork as well.
    I'm still searching, but I have a better chance with this.
    Thanks for the pep talk!

    I love all the audio cuts you did at like 13:30 to illustrate your point lol, very jarring, and I was immediately irritated. I think you're videos have a fantastic tempo personally, you let the music breathe and don't feel the need to jam your voice down the listeners throat. I have a feeling you spent quite a bit of time on what the pacing style of your videos would be and it shows.

    Hi Adam. It's Adam from Fitzfactor. Thank you so much for your video and how open you are within it. Means a lot and I really appreciate you taking the time to share. I've been wanting for a while to start sharing through youtube but have had the opposite problem of "speaking before I think." I end up writing scripts for topics or perspectives I think are worth sharing and always end up canning them thinking that I'm not adding anything new to the conversation or bringing any new insight that's worth sharing. Almost did it with this comment haha, wrote it out and thought about deleting it afterwards. Working through this though and trying to find a way to start. You are really inspiring in that regard. I love listening to you speak and your perspectives on things. It's not always that we need to hear the perfect voice, but a sincere human one.

I think also being open to change is another important factor. like with your boss at the call center. doing the same thing over and over in the same way in terms of creating content eventually gets boring for either the viewer or the creator. that my own 2 cents anyways. keep up the great message.

    This totally alignes to what my family taught me at home when it comes to public image and opinions.
    We are artist, we make art. People don´t want to hear from us activism shit. They might accept it from time to time but that´s not what they expect from us.
    And this is also something that I see so wrong with many artists on social media who suddenly are talking about unrelated politics topics to their feed.

    • @NihongoWakannai
      @NihongoWakannai Před 4 lety

      Yeah, when people... Just go slowly and... Trail off at the end of... some of their words... It just makes me lose... Focus, and then tune out...
      Especially when people slow down and then speed up their speech, like even in this video. He'll... Say... Words... Slowly... And... Then... VeryQuicklyFinishTheSentence and I'm just like "wait, wtf did you just say?" Because my brain has to switch from processing slow speech to fast speech.
      15:32 he tries to make a point but it completely failed on me. "pacing" didn't stick in my mind, I had a hard time processing what was said because it was so damn slow.
      And at 15:38 I could follow along perfectly fine. I'm more comfortable with speed because I get more information in a shorter period of time and can therefore more easily connect that information together in my head.
      I'd much rather just have someone speak quickly at a consistent speed and without a lot of fluff, that's how I will most clearly understand.

    Adam, I love your videos and the message you're presenting here. But I am compelled to comment on sympathy vs empathy because the definition in this videos isn't accurate as I understand it and as I have referenced from Merriam Webster. Here is the difference.
    Sympathy: your mother has recently passed away, my mother also died when I was young, I can sympathize with what you are going through.
    Empathy: your mother has recently passed away. I have never experienced this, but I love my mother and I can empathize with how you must feel.
    ...
    I think this is just slightly different from complaining versus facing adversity.. Thanks again for the channel Adam, t's great to listen to as I work on my projects. Take care.

    I have opinions about things most people don’t wanna talk about and I say them online and pick fights with whoever dares cross my path, and you’re telling me companies are NOT gonna hire me for that? Well, fuck them! I can go freelance.

    • @TitaniumKitty
      @TitaniumKitty Před 4 lety +4

      Seriously? I thought the same at times. Never let an injustice go unpunished. Never stop fighting. But sometimes that means knowing when to stop pulling the trigger. Or never pull it in the first place. You can't freelance if you can't get hired. Freelancing is literally spending your time being hired, if not everyday then still much more often than an employee at some fortune 500 company who hasn't had to worry about finding a job in eight years. But if you have the money to support yourself and your family burning every bridge imaginable, who am I to stop you? It doesn't take courage to be an outcast, but it does if you want to be effective.
