  • Pacifiers are a tool to help soothe the baby when you're in the car, when your baby has taken a full feeding and just needs sucking to soothe to transition to sleep, or if baby is prone to reflux and needs help with digestion.
To be sure the bottle or pacifier don't interfere with our breastfeeding goals, remember:
🧷When possible, wait to introduce your first bottle until your milk supply and breastfeeding are going well, usually around 3-4 weeks
🧷Make the bottle work like the breast. It should take your baby about the same amount of time to take a bottle as they feed at the breast. This is different for every baby, but around 15-20 minutes is usually recommended. If you have a very fast flow, you can use a faster flow bottle nipple.
🧷Make sure baby latches deeply to the bottle, lips flanged like at the breast and not just on the tip of the nipple. You want to avoid bottle nipples that promote a mouth that looks like it’s drinking from a straw.
🧷You need to feed something to maintain milk supply: If baby is feeding from a bottle, you should be feeding your pump
🧷Only offer a pacifier after baby has fed or when in the car/attempting to sleep
🧷Feed the baby at first signs of hunger and don't wait until some imaginary time for them "to be hungry". Watch the baby and not the clock

So why is this woman teaching a newborn how to bottle feed. There is no reason to give this baby a pacifier. If he wants to feed BREASTFEED HIM!!

    Doesn't need it

I hated pacifiers for my babies. They didn’t need one.

Big and round pacifier are out of date - according to specialists/speach & language therapists/ dentists/ lactation consultants - and not according to commercial companies - as they misshapen the palate - roof of the mouth of the baby with long term consequences and the one in the video is too heavy and covers the 1/3 of the babys face.

THIS IS A CLASSIC MISTAKE. TOO EARLY INTRODUCTION OF PACIFIER USE LEADING TO ⬇️ FREQUENCY OF MILK REMOVAL LEADS TO ⬇️ MILK SUPPLY. ✅✅The baby is showing classic feeding and hunger cues for breastfeeding.
