When you give people a life that is too valuable to mess up, they will try not to mess it up.
Also, paying criminals not to be criminal is still far cheaper than a repeating path of violence/cops/courts/jail/no future.
Same thing with the homeless. Give them homes and guidance, and you're dealing with that issue far cheaper and far more effective than waging war on them.

It's easier to ignore the problem,
      Complain about the the problem,
and point fingers at the cause of the problem than telling people truthfully they can solve the problem and do it.
Society has a problem with the judicial system.
People are sent to jail or prison for whatever reason and DO THEIR TIME to pay the dept to society they were sentenced to only to be released to the public that doesn't understand why they're released and rip on them for something that happened or didn't happen years ago.. Something that was already settled about a person who was deemed to be reformed and acceptable for being in society.

And then there is this: So, about two years after California becomes its own country, the deep south, with stronger influence, will get the US Senate to declare war on California, occupying it and killing tens of thousands of ex-patriots. and setting up a puppet crony government, much like Puerto Rico---ijust like the United States invades everyone else----which means we should keep all those military bases across the state in tack.-i-----------Wouldn't it be easier to just divide California into 3 states, so we would have more impact in Washington? Ah, as a Northern Californian I'd like to inform everyone that the hippie/hick amalgam in rural California is breathtaking. That's why when anti vaxing came out as right wing I was confused, as far left hippies here have been anti vax for so long. 💖

The far left hippie anti-vaxx thing is like that everywhere. I see it here on the East Coast but the worst state I saw it in honestly was Colorado. I guess the Continental divide is more than just for land to them. Front Range side around Denver was the far left anti-vaxxers. But once you cross the Eisenhower Tunnel through the Rocky Mountains you were in what's not Lauren Boebart land & those ranchers are so strange it's no wonder that's who sent Lauren Boebart to represent them in DC. To be honest those of us on the Front Range always blamed their behavior on lack of oxygen from Altitude Poisoning.

@@joeldavis5815 Qualified immunity, summarized, prevents individual law enforcement officers from being sued in a civil suit unless it can be proven that an identical prior incident was found to be unconstitutional. It’s nearly impossible, and gets into the chicken or egg territory. Essentially, any kind of payout a victim or family member might receive from bad or reckless action by law enforcement, is paid by the tax payer. The law enforcement officers are never held accountable on that level, and have no incentive to change behavior. If a law enforcement officer isn’t charged criminally, the only thing that can really be done to them is to have them fired.

He told me it cleared the undergrowth and it kept down disease( ticks love tall grass in the ditches) When I asked in California why they did not that since it was badly needed. I was told because of the cost. That made no sense California suffers from the disease of knowing better. The same New York suffers from. I know better disease- I know everything. @@allisonpuig Obviously there's the added risk of landslides if an earthquake takes place or shortly after due to erosion.
There are some indications that trees would be beneficial as they upsurp some of the energy (by shaking, unless they start resonating).
But there was also group of scientists who associated deforestation as causal effect of earthquakes. Something to do with the way the wind could influence the earth's crust 🤔. Unfortunately, lost the link to the research.
However, it had come up as research matter/question as to why hurricanes and earthquakes are horrific in Haiti, in particularly in comparison to the Dominican Republic : both on the same island but the force of both hurricanes and earthquakes and the effects are vastly different. But so is their landscape (now). In the Dominican lots of forrests, in Haiti all chopped up, problem with erosion and soil depletion.
