I agree. A couple of character actors who previously played Rosita said its bs. Apparently, the mouth is where their eyes are and they're taught to tilt their heads so the costume's eyes are level with visitors, which means most of the time their heads are tilted down, looking at the ground...where the kids are.

Re: the guards at Buckingham Palace--Absurdity of continuing to make these guards wear these uniforms in this heat aside, why did no one think to grab some straws? That would have made it way easier to help hydrate those poor dudes than simply pouring water in their mouths. ☹️
Because that’s the parade uniform. Honestly do you think they don’t have tricks to make them either warmer or cooler? I remember the tricks that we did in uniform, like making sure you have something cooling in your hat. Like a wet cloth or even ice. The bearskin hats have a lot of space for that so it’s clearly a bonus.
You also wear moisture wicking t-shirts under your jacket, or you can even put a wet t-shirt on under the jacket. Not to mention that wool being a breathable material is actually one of the better things you can wear for with keeping warm or cool.
I still call it very sus that the secret service deletes the text from January 6th and cannot somehow retrieve it. But yet to a normal person who did something or said something they can find that easy peasy. I'm absolutely side eyeing the secret service. That doesn't seem right. They're basically on the sus list like the FBI. J Edgar Hoover oh yeah we haven't forgotten

I worked at a school that disallowed backpacks. The kids would carry around those huge zipper binders. You could put any weapon in one of those that you could put in a backpack.

Back in the day, one can of tuna fish made 3 sandwiches. Now, it make one and a half sandwiches. Their cans went from 12oz in the 80s, to 10oz in the 90s, finally 6oz today.

One of the many problems we have in this current day and age is that too many people live in a bubble.
Most of us can read.
Look at what you're buying before you complain.
Look at the price, look at the weight, you can figure out what is most cost-effective through basic math.
I might be a bit biased in my interpretation.

I agree with Trevor that its misleading if in the same packaging. Just like I dont like a uniform increases of everything in stores when they announce an 8% inflation and stores have doubled the price on some items like steak but also soda.
In lower income places in Houston, clear backpacks and metal detectors are the norm for about 15 years. Also patrols with police dogs. Hasn’t really been successful, in high school saw someone get stabbed. Only to name a few incidents.
More like 25 years. Mesh and clear backpacks were required when I first entered high school and that was almost 30 years ago. Doesn't work.

At least the war in Ukrainia will help us get less dependent on fossil fuel and gas, demands for solar cells and heat pumps are skyrocketing, and everyone wants to insulate their home - too bad that building materials at the moment are few and expensive. They used to say that climate friendly behaviour would be induced by ‚the market‘, now we are all going to learn the hard way.

A new aftermarket for automotive car software hackers. They will probably sell a work around. It probably would be a wifi update, similar to Tesla, since it is a monthly subscription, they have to be able to shut off the accessories without returning the car to the dealership.

My school district does clear or mesh backpacks for every grade and stuff has still gotten through even with metal detectors in 6-12. clear or mesh backpacks just make the weapons harder to find. As a student it feels like threats and issues have increased since they started making us use them.

Same here in Louisiana, Lafayette Parish is doing the same thing clear and mesh backpacks 6th - 12th grade. School system is trying to promote the use of mesh and clear backpacks for children in K - 5th grade. However, it will be mandatory in all grades starting the 2023-2024 school year.
It's easier than asking a kid how they're doing and being trustworthy enough to get an honest answer. Also, being open minded enough to accept teenagers know what they mean.
Shrinkflation is not such a bad idea, maybe some of the costumers start shrinking themselves now, which would not be too bad 😂

Love the show! Was watching the segment on clear backpacks, there have been schools that tried this before and they just aren’t effective. A school in an area where is used to live ended up putting in metal detectors because it got so bad. Keep doing what you’re doing Trevor, love it!

Well the cost of living for European’s in the U.S is more expensive, but for American’s in Europe the cost of living is cheaper. The standard of living of everyone doesn’t magically go down. I think you may have relative currency value and inflation mixed up.
@@mikesherm1393 inflation and devaluation may not always go together but in a world where most goods are bought in either dollars or cripto, the devaluation of their currency may affect the pocket of some people. That means that loans may take more interest to pay back. Now if this was on the opposite, let's say the dollar were to be half the value of the Euro, this could mean ruin to USA. Cause we also buy goods from Europe in their currency. There must be a balance. I just hope Europe can contain the drop on their currency before is too late.

When I worked at Fred Meyers like 20 years ago, you had to have a clear backpack or bag like this to come in and out of work. Apparently employees were stealing too much stuff so they implemented a rule of clear bags only LOL

Shrinkflation is nothing new. Coffee in the 80s 3 pounds down to 39 ounces. Sugar in the 90s. 5 pounds down to 4 pounds. Dairy Queen uses smaller chicken strips than 5 years ago.

Toilet paper companies has been reducing the sheet count for years now. How come people are now noticing this?
Because they bought so much TP when Covid started, now they're running out and when the economy tanked in 2021/22 and the price of everything went through the roof, people are suddenly finding out that a roll of TP two years ago was twice the size of today's rolls, for the same price.
We were required to use clear backpacks in Baltimore in the 90s, my kids attended schools outside of Atlanta since 2010 and they were required to use clear backpacks. All of our schools were predominantly black. We all hated them but it kept us safe, at least in school.
I had to use those clear backpacks when i was in school, and while i never brought weapons to school, that backpack didn't stop me from bringing bubble gum, CD players, bongs

Shrinkflation has been around for some time. My favorite cereal did it several years ago. I noticed because I still had the large one when I placed the new one next to it. They also did things like making the mouth of the tube of shampoo larger so you used the it faster.

Yesterday, I spilled my purse while getting into the car to go to the gas station. When I got home 2 minutes later, I found my cash app card on the driveway, kinda melted. I now have a wavy cash app card. Still works thanks to the tap feature but 2 minutes in the sun melted it.

That said, NO our gas prices ARE NOT so high that every corporation has to up their prices by 40% to stay profitable
What were seeing is mass greed that is enabled by American politics and the hard times hitting again and again. It's not about everyone having the basics, so they can work to earn more (i.e. the american dream) instead its about keeping people in their place - the waltons bezos and musks of the world think all of humanity is disposable, lacking THEIR dazzling brilliance and determination, so they treat us like we're lesser than.
And our government can't even be bothered to collect the taxes these people OWE this country.
@mr. Fogg it really depends on where you are, but I remember the investigations from the government and media outlets about how companies were selling less product in the same packages. I believe cereal was the first one to be noticed
@mr. Fogg Americans are used to much cheaper gas due to most European countries having much higher taxes built into the price. So the price of crude oil, cost of refining, etc. is a smaller portion of your per liter price. When those costs go up, it causes a larger relative rise in price in the US, even if similar in absolute terms.
Shrinkflation is nothing new. For decades a number 2 can of canned goods held 16 ounces (2 cups). For example, my pumpkin pie filling recipe from the pumpkin can in 1963 called for 2 cups of canned pumpkin, which was one can. Over the decades, they've gradually made them hold less, making it necessary for me to adjust the recipe or be stuck with leftover canned pumpkin.
The media needs to stop criticizing Joe Biden, if we want low gas prices it is the president's job to do what it takes whether we like it or not period!
