Is the plot for Roze of the Recapture a complete disaster well in todays video I discuss the controversy behind the recent updates.
Let me know if you are still going to watch Roze despite the potential issues.
Time Stamps in the description don't use the ones that CZcams recomends on the video themselves.
They are only affecting the Code Geass movies timeline, so there is not a reason to get angry. It this was the case with the original anime tv series then we could have a reason to get angry. Let's judge Code Geass: Roze of the Recapture when the anime gets released, since it has the potential to be good, or bad. For example in the past people were really excited for the Code Geass: Akito the Exiled movies set in europe but unfortunately most fast weren't happy about this project after seeing 5 movies (personally I did enjoy watching them all, since they showcased my home country).
I agree... the movie timeline is what will either benefit or suffer from this. It could be the greatest thing ever, or the worst. But it won't effect the TV Series timeline.
I agree
@@bacd-nn2lg Agreed, for I want to experience this new Code Geass franchise first-hand to see if it's good or bad, compared to the other previous Code Geass seasons, spin-offs, and films I've seen.
I think what disappoints me that a small change which would've made this feel less bad (Other than the time thing) is that it could've been set ANYWHERE but Japan. If you do want to go with the whole "Brittanian loyalists causing a fuss" angle (which is lame, but an understandable plot development), why not set the story in the brittanian motherland, something which we've seen very little of, and gives us an excuse to see a lot of new characters? Or any of the areas brittania had conquered? You know, all of the places which would've been chaotic and hard to reign in even after the Zero Requiem.
yes, but not like a country never came back to power after huge lost
What are the sources that state that it’s in Japan? I couldn’t find anything that says that
@@ElessarFrey It's clearly shown it happens in Hokkaido, the northern island of Japan.
@@rethall2308 sorry, i didn’t read the image showed at the beginning and couldn’t find at first.
I belive Oz of the Reflection takes place in the homeland but sadly the Manga wasn't translated nor adapted.
I'd much rather more short stories of L.L and C.C just travelling around the world or settling down somewhere.
A Kino's Journey type show with Lelouch and CC does sound pretty cool ngl.
I loved the Picture drama:Fragment of the Deep Sea, i hope they'll make more of them at least.
agreed. lelouch seeing the positive and negative impacts of Zero Requiem around the world would have been a great story.
@@kenzacharyrodriguez2591 but I want mechs
Yeah man I would've loved that, they could make it without any overarching plot and I would still watch a 100 episodes of it
I just realized. There is one good reason on why the Neo Britannia would pick Japan, why the Hokkaido Block wasn't mentioned in the original series and why UFN was in actual deadlock for all this time. Sakuridite. With the Fuji Mine devastated due to R2, Hokkaido mines would rise in prominence. And because it remains a vital resource, the UFN was willing to do some concessions.
Nice idea, it is possible.
This would link a lot of things together, let's hope it's something sensible like that.
Lack of Sakurudite in the UFN would also explain why they couldn't deploy large knightmare armies like they did before the zero requiem
Yeah, that would make sense, seeing as Britannia invaded Japan before due to the fact of Sakuridite being an essential mineral needed to operate Knightmare Frames.
🤔👍
Someone ought to have told Charles that he had a hyper competent special forces unit with deployable force fields that he could have used any time to lock down rebellious cities and root out the Black Knights block by block.
Honestly this wouldn’t be such an issue if they had set this 20 to 30 years into the future instead of 4.
It would explain why none of the current cast was in the original and help explain how this conflict is even a problem in the first place
my guess Charles did have them but he's personalty was 1 he barely bothered on detailed reports seeing them lessor than him and leaving these lesser manners to schneizel. and 2 britana was expanding every witch way under the sun so they was pretty much was using a lot of competent SF to fight/quell rebellions and fight wars. plus he did use his personal knights ( the 12) in japan poorly but still.
It's explained in the show. Charles doesn't care about the conflict. His mind is set on Ragnarok, on that abstract plan to control the metaphysics of their world.
As for Britannia itself, they did fight the Black Knights. But they couldn't send their entire forces, as they are literally in war with the rest of the world. Where were the Knights of Round? Fighting other, more important battles.
Besides.... Britannia won in the first season, and Japan was somewhat under their control in season 2.
They better not kill off the original cast characters cuz if they do it's going to piss off the entire fan base
Or get raided.
If they killed off highly beloved characters, I think the fanbase would never let the creators + everyone who had a hand in it live it down. Every new project would be; "So which main character are you going to kill off this time?" or "Don't get attached, characters in this universe have a lifespan of characters in GOT"
It's a sequel to resurrection, everyone lives. This will be very very dumbed down.
@@divaofthedamned365 | Sounds like the Gundam SEED fanbase in Japan... they adored Kira Yamato so much that when in SEED Destiny, Shinn Asuka almost killed him, the fanbase rioted. SEED Destiny was dealing with flagging ratings because Kira was being portrayed as an antagonist. So they had to shift the focus back to Kira to regain the crowd, all the while assassinating Shinn's character.
@@lancecurry7538 because the way it executed is very poor, as simple as that. You don't build a character, than destroy the old one with non make sense plot just so the new can shine, since you cannot make better char arc
I knew something like this would happen. The original show said that KMFs have only been in combat for 7 years. That's not enough time to set up multiple stories for a franchise. I'm really surprise the complication movies didn't retconned it that they've been around for 50 or 60 years instead. That would open up the world for more change.
Because that would contradict the story intro. Remember, Japan fell after the introduction of Knightmares. In addition, there is Marianne and her story.
because lelouch would not be sent into a battlefield as a child, or he wouldget the geass as a 67 year old. he had to have experienced japan and meet suzaku before it became area 11.
Two notes...
One... I won't be as mad about the result because this is in the movie timeline, separate from the TV Series. So it doesn't ruin the masterfully-crafted ending of the original timeline.
Two... the events of Rozé apparently happen 7 years after the Zero Requiem, so that kinda explains the abundance of Knightmares and prototypes. 7 years ago, they were making super robots.
Its okay to have questions, but people are currently treating these questions they have for a show we haven't watched yet as hardcore plot holes before show even has had a chance to try explain itself.
The problem is simple... The lack of explanation.
Maybe before it might not have been as bad, but considering how many cheap and lazy shady grabs we have gotten that just throw in a new excuse for a foe or a rehash of a story knowing the original sold well, but didn't put in the work to not copy it... People have grown cynical and doubtful.
And for good reason.
Is this the same timeline? If so how did it happen?
Is this a different timeline. If so why did it happen?
Where are our main characters from the last one?
Why aren't they here?
Those questions need answers and so far we have none.
Good point. That does make sense.
YES
An idea: Maybe, Rozé of the recapture is one of the events that will lead to the post credits of Lelouch of the resurrection. Lelouch of the resurrection ended with a star shower and lelouch hinting at many geass users who are unfit for the power. He departed to go stop them. I doubt a mere 3 years is enough to capture and kill them all. So, maybe Rozé of the recapture occurs in between lelouch of the resurrection and its post credits.
To quote from Eddy from Ed, Edd, n Eddy to the director, producers, and writer of Roze of the Recapture, "You spent all this time thinking, and that's what you came up with!?"
At this point, we just have to wait and see how this movie (and other three films) goes.
tbh Alot of us will stream it "legally"
some box packages, you know the box you pay monthly to have more channels, well some have Star channel included, Rozé of the Recapture will be streaming on that channel.
It's actually easier to acess than Disney + because some packages include that channel, mine has it.

The only way to make a new story with some characters from the original series is to have the requiem fall apart. Plus, when you think about it, most other potential powerful players were killed in the original series. The vacuum Lelouch created, would be filled individuals taking advantage of what he created
Sure, if you ignore that at least one of the original cast is immortal.
It’s an alternate timeline, not canon to the main series. The main series ends with episode 50.
I dont see how they have become such a treat when the black Knights have Kallen and Suzaku there kmfs are just on another level along with thier skills
and thats ignoring how schniezel, the single greatest threat to the requiem and the second greatest mind there was... is still there and should have snuffed the entire problem out in days
They really should have set the story in a former Britannia stronghold, it wouldn't change the overall story in fact it expands on it, if Neo-Britannia rise in South America, its not hard to imagine that a splinter group (or this case a KotR wannabe) snag a royalty and Vows to "make Britannia Great Again", hardliners join in or anyone that doesn't like the current state of Britannia, plot happens etc... and the 7 stars could just be a resistance group like those mentioned in materials such as nightmare of nunnally.
Anyways just hope the show would be entertaining enough that other projects would be green lighted.
Wish it didn't set in japan. Try Australia for a change XD. Maybe a Britannian state/colony that turned into its own country slowly plotted, gained power after a decade or long period and finally has emerged out, dominating the Oceania region.
Damn, I would have loved to see Australia succeed Britannia into its own quasi empire. In fact, I know some guys who are in favour of replacing the commonwealth govt. and reforming into an Empire with an Emperor. Yes, I think monarchy is based. All hail Oceania! All hail his Imperial Majesty, the Emperor! Long may he reign!
Whenever they showed the Map in code Geass Australia was actually independent throughout the entire series until Lelouch conquered the world which is kinda odd but yeah
Statistically how many animes are not in Japan and or not in a fantasy world of some kind anime is Japanese made for Japanese people it's just like western media everything always being centered around America it's just how it is
@@therandomcommenter6629 , One Piece there's only one Japanese pirate on Luffy's crew, and his crew ranges from South America to Europe and Africa, so this Code Geass film should've been centered in Australia.

Neo Britannia is basically Neo Zeon but for Code Geass It's not necessarily unbelievable for a military unit to pop up out of nowhere. considering that there are people who are still loyal to that nation, they would just go into hiding like what happens in gundam all the time.
Sieg Zeon
Sieg Zeon
Ah yes, Neo Zeon with Haman i guess since Char(Lelouch) are already in the case.
Imagine LL and CC make a AEUG counterpart
@@renzocater3089 It'd be a pretty interesting turn of events, I definitely wouldn't be opposed to it!
The thing that makes it believable in Gundam is that Zeon is based out in space, with a near unlimited number of places to hide, spread out far enough to make it practically impossible for the federation to hunt them all down. This new series doesn't have that excuse.
Wait, Britannia didn't even collapse after Zero Requiem, so why they should be disappear?
Also this is Sunrise, so anything achieved by the last series can be violated through the next, remember 0079 and Stardust Memories?

What’s the name?
@@lesvideosduboncoin506 it was on CZcams around dacade ago and youtube have since cleanse a lot of old vids so we probably wouldn't never see it again, i think. And I've forgotten the title... Sorry.
I feel like the plot is plausible but the writers didn't take everything into consideration.
For one, I am okay with sudden appearance of talented knightmare pilots. That's exactly how we got casts of R and R2. And because Britannia "won" using what essentially is "wunderwaffe" which ignores zone of control and supply issues (case in point: freaking Lancelot's massive plot armor), I can see that's how the world's conflicts would evolve post-Zero Requiem.
What I feel like isn't explained in the trailer yet and possibly is a plot hole is the buildup of these individuals in New Britannia. I am sure that there are those still loyal to Britannia, but they would not be exclusive in Japan. Holding Japan with Sakuradite mines hostage using talented pilots while entire nations who were once Area 2 or 3 (the nations that probably would have highest loyalist factions) or even Area 1 with Schneizel or Nunnally hostage within it would make more sense given that it would be where most of the UFN be positoned and why the members of UFN are altogether dissatisfied with current state of affairs (ie. Non-main cast leaders being irked that Black Knights are more active in Britannia and not Japan due to favoritism).
This would explain all the plot holes nicely without making main point of R2 meaningless, and would give precedence for future Cose Geass to follow: a contest of mad geniuses fighting to change the world in their image. With plenty of knightmare wunderwaffe and strategic terrorism to go around.
Imma just pretend its not canon lol
I remember an old code geass RP I was on (think it’s still the biggest code geass forum on fanfic net, long story short after getting to the end of R2 we had a character who was a sometimes ally of Lelouch (an OSI operative who was……a quadruple agent? Posing as a globe trotting mercenary, who fought for the black knights to move forward with the goal of destroying thought elevators to enact a scorched earth policy to deny ragnarok……the director of the OSI was secretly working to undermine Ragnarok as he had become dillusioned with the emperors views) long story short is by the end of R2 he was viewed as a deranged terrorist (we made it that destruction of a thought elevator basically releases an amount of energy comparable to a flejia detonation and some of them were in/under cities) and he became the villian of what we dubbed R3.
He began rallying soldiers from disparate nations, generals, commandos, soldiers who basically found themselves with no place for themselves in a peaceful world.
It started out as terrorist attacks randomly throughout the world, turning into gurellia warfare, then a full on nation toppled.
The climax of it was that this new nation was basically stockpiling Flejia and had begun reverse engineering the Wzero appolo chariots but we’re planning on using it as a delivery system for flejia warheads instead of knightmares, functionally developing ICBM with MIRV capabilities…..and they intended to pull an ace combat zero where they hit the reset on everything bombing the governments and sending the world back into a state of conflict…….except the plan was never designed to work,
The osi agent who had become the leader of this terrorist cell, during his time destroying the thought elevators he had begun interacting more and more with zero/Lelouch until he basically figured everything out (yes he tried to geass him but due to circumstances failed and ultimately their goals aligned enough that conflict wasn’t really necessary for either of them) when Lelouch became emperor the agent tried to assassinate him breaking into the palace and failed (he was kind of suicidal at this point his guilt at all the cities and people he killed was catching up to him) it was here he learned of zeros requiem he pointed out that there would be people who fundementally would never be able to accept a peaceful world, that you will be dealing with terrorist and insurgencts who want to revert the world back for decades on end, like an endless game of whack-a-mole until the conflicts brought about births it’s own animosities.
They then devised a plan for the agent to be basically a beacon for all of those who would dissent and try and revert things…….with the express purpose of them being a threat that the world that seeks peace would have to eliminate
I learned from recent history, that the world does not unify against a single enemy followed by peace. So it makes sense to me that Zero Requiem would not have long lasting effects.
Yeah, people forget that after WW2, US vs Soviets Nuclear arms race happened.
The original ending though hopeful was unrealistic as no one person dying regardless of status is going to completely change the world like code geias says Lelouch does ...
the whole point of the zero requiem is peace for nunnanly and suzaku. and to unite the world to a common enemy and move to peace. there wont be another superpower nation to dominate the world until their deaths. i agree with some of the comment that they should set this 60 years after the event it would have made sense.
@@fg009letyrds8 The deference between lelouch and hitler was Lelouch won the war and before he killed himself he strategically establish powerful leaders that would pursue world peace (like nunnally, princess cornelia, The black knight's, United Federation of Nations)
A lot people forget that humans are stupid. The Zero Requiem was never meant to be a permeant solution merely a stop light allowing the world to come to an agreement so that another country like Britannia won't rise up again.
It’s seems like anime’s nowadays all all going for the 12-13 episodes season it’s not like the 2000s where series was almost always 25+ episodes almost all shows nowadays are 12 episodes. The only exception to this is recently is JJK that I can think of
Vinland Saga has 24 episodes per season
True. But that is becoming uncommon.
A few have 20 or more apothecary diaries had 22 I think and frieren had 28
The scene on that aircraft carrier, when was that in resurrection? I don’t recall milly being there
people need to remember this is a bandai/sunrise production neo britania is just Neo Zeon 3.0(the sleaves from unicorn gundam would be 2.0)
They aren't really ruining Lelouch's legacy, because what he accomplished could never be permanent in a human world. If Lelouch wanted permanent peace, he should have gone with the plan his Mother and Father had, because any world run by human beings will inevitably fall into conflict no matter how good or long lasting the peace is. The fact of the matter is that conflict is an inevitable outcome of free will and individual thought, because someone will always come along that wants to change the status quo for some reason or another. The idea of permanent peace being possible in a world where people have individual thoughts, desires and opinions is nothing but a pipe dream. You would have to get 100% of all people born for the rest of eternity to 100% agree on how things are run without changing anything. We have examples of regimes trying to force this sort of thing in real life, and it is always accompanied with the worst atrocities.
Which is also why Pain, Obito and Madara were right about their plans. Naruto way of doing things ended up being wrong in the end because conflicts still happen in Boruto. I haven’t read his son’s story, just stuff I hear about from time to time online but humanity will always fight each other for one reason or another eventually. If the dumb Black Zetsu/Kaguya plot twist wasn’t a thing and the Infinite Tsukuyomi was permanent than everyone would be at peace in their own genjutsu. Of course it’s not the right thing since it robs people to choose their own paths but the alternative was more conflicts. It’s a dilemma of would you want to live a life with peace of mind if you knew it was a lie or would you want to face hardship, pain and death in reality?
All of this shit Lelush did for 3 years of peace? 3?
@@KyoryuDiabolos The problem is that you can never fully cover up the truth forever, it simply isn't possible. Reality is what it is, and trying to force it to bend to your will incurs a price, and the longer you force the lie to stay in place the heavier the penalty at the end when it falls apart.
Something like Madara's plan can exist only in fiction, because in fiction you can make up whatever arbitrary rules of the universe you want, including discarding the laws of physics.
We already have something like Pain's plan, and it's called nuclear weaponry. How much has that actually done to stop global conflicts? The fact is, people with sinister agendas will *always* find a way around whatever rules and balances you have in place.
The closest thing we can come to creating "utopia" is through communism. Under communist regimes the government has total control over the populace, and anybody who disagrees is simply crushed. The Chinese Communist Party has millions of cameras in place all over China, such that you cannot escape surveillance, and they have a social credit score in place so that if you express the wrong opinions or behave in the wrong way you start to lose access to different services and people will distance themselves from you to keep their score intact. Of course that doesn't get into the human rights atrocities like live organ harvesting of people associated with unapproved religious groups.
Certain classical books have covered what it looks like when government tries to create utopia, such as Orwell's 1984. A good anime covering that sort of thing would be Psycho Pass, which covers what a government "utopia" would look like with modern to slightly futuristic technology.
@@darkprinc979 I’ve watched Psycho Pass and even in that world the Sybil system is corrupt and can’t tell the difference in who is a criminal and who is just a regular person under extreme stress. Peace is a difficult thing to attain without certain freedoms surrendered to keep it.
@@KyoryuDiabolos There is no such thing as a system that can push that kind of peace without being corrupt, it just isn't possible. In order for a system like that to work, you have to have 100% of the people to give their consent 100% of the time. Any disagreement and you have a problem, so in order to maintain the "peace" you have to get rid of the dissenters, meaning you have just stepped into tyranny and cruelty. Taking people's freedoms away isn't enough, you have to take away their free will, but at that point you no longer have human beings, but robots.
Don't forget that there are different timelines in Code Geass franchise. For example we have the original anime series were it end in Zero Requiem with Lelouch fate unknown to the audience, another timeline are the movies set in Code Geass: Akito the Exiled timeline where it ends before the events of R2 season, manga timelines like Code Geass: Nightmare of Nunnally were Zero takes a different role at the end, and finnaly we have the recent Code Geass Lelouch of the Re;surrection movies timeline. According to the wiki the story Code Geass: Roze of the Recapture is set after the events of Code Geass Lelouch of the Re;surrection movies, so it doesn't affect the original Code Geass anime tv series ending.
Akito the Exiled is canon to the anime.
Also, in the anime lelouch's fate is not "unknown" to the audience, he's dead because the lore leaves no other options. All the crackpot conspiracy theories have been debunked, and even the creators have officially stated that he's truly dead.
I always thought that Lelouch didn't die in tv series, since he killed Charles who got Code from V.V, which means it also transfered to him therefore preventing his death.
@@arnold2614 That's not how code transfer works.
Charles didn't kill V.V., and yet he got V.V.'s code. V.V. succumbed to his injuries from battle with Lelouch and Cornelia.
More than that, Charles had V.V.'s code in Turn 14, while V.V. only died in Turn 15.
Lelouch is dead and not immortal, that is an objective fact. The anime's lore makes it literally impossible for Lelouch to have a code because it was established that everyone who gets the code loses the geass and Lelouch never lost his geass.
On top of that, the show staff have officially confirmed that Lelouch is truly dead and never had a code.
They even explained that the anime only exists because they wanted to write a story where the main character does evil and dies in the end to redeem himself.
@@IsilionNELEC.C. States Charles killed V.V. That is fact. We know Code is transferred by killing the previous owner when you have a strong enough Geass, evidence suggests it and it is stated.
Still, I believe in original series Lelouch dies, as he didn’t “kill’ Charles. He made “God” erase him.
@@samuelericci3959 You misunderstood C.C.
She asked (rhetorically) why Charles took V.V.'s code and why he killed V.V.
And that shows that losing the code makes you mortal, which is effectively a death sentence.
He didn't kill him in the literal sense.
This is also proven by C.C.'s words in Turn 15:
"In the final stage of Geass, the user attains the position of the one who granted them the power. Thus you have gained the power to kill me."
By taking someone's code you remove their immortality and thus you can kill them. It's "gain code -> former code bearer can die", and not "former code bearer dies -> gain code".
Additionally, we see that with the nun too. The nun's corpse was laying peacefully on the floor, with her hands folded in prayer. You think a gravely wounded C.C. would bother to make sure the nun's corpse was lying comfortably and folding her fingers in a pose of prayer? Of course not. That shows the nun herself laid herself down and was praying as she waited to die from bleeding out.
So we can be sure that getting the code does NOT require killing the code bearer.
What about Nunnaly? Also what about C's world representative?
Off topic: is BANDAI going to make Robot Spirits action figures of these new knightmare frames?
i expected more honestly. i had hoped for a original plot. Also the sheer amount of power houses in this shows lore should have fodderised these new people instantly. its honestly so irritating.
It's too early to say whether the reason is good or not.
If people let this go on, we'll have a Rise of Skywalker scenario and we don't want that right?
They will fail, if they have a geass fracture then lelouch and his team are on their way.
In which case they will need someone just as intelligent as lelouch to combat him.
Lelouch is roaming the world with C. C. and giving Geass to the people he finds worth it (yes Lelouch can give the Geass to people after Resurrection ending). Sakuya Sumeragi actually says the phrase Lelouch said to someone at the end of Resurrection, so either she knows Lelouch or she knows someone that knows Lelouch
Theirs a fanfiction of this but instead of Japan was the last place to take over it was America and the base for the American branch is in space and the moon
I wouldn't say the idea that Zero's plan failed is bad in and of itself. If only what we see so far was written differently. Like maybe Lelouch sees that even with a Messiah breaking the cycle of hate, the issue is much deeper and the cycle reforms itself, and maybe they could've made a new series, focused on zero again somehow thinking of a solution to fix it. This way we get new lore, more of lelouch which is not bad if done right and we can get new characters too. I just came up with this idea right now and it sounds too good not to make an anime out of it. Something like him working out something new and different than the zero requiem and seeing him mature even more could be great for his character, but for that we need competent writers and so on
Yeah but try telling this is to those code geass fans who say “our ending is better than aot because lelouch created a forever world peace”. This change in the ending would be MORE realistic... but the plot is pretty poorly written as the video suggests. We will see.
Lelouch himself is a pro-change character. If those fans are truly fans they wouldn't be opposed to change, esp if it's done properly, to better the story and the characters, to make them even more interesting. It's their fault for being stagnant, something they wouldn't be if they truly loved the anime and understood Lelouch. Also I don't watch aot so idk what you're talking about, don't spoil me.
"This change in the ending would be MORE realistic..."
- I mean, realistic or idealistic, Lelouch is both, and someone like him would think of something that combines both, but again, it's up to whatever writers the anime would have.
" but the plot is pretty poorly written as the video suggests. We will see."
- I don't like calling something bad or good before the full product appears. I don't like watching trailers because their existence is to get you hooked on something, but if the information in the trailer isn't enough then there's no point in forming an opinion on the full product. We have to wait and see how this new anime will be executed and written.
Z of the Recapture will be set in the movie timeline, so that means the main series timeline stays intact. The Zero Requiem didn’t necessarily mean stopping all wars forever it was a political reset, with a better world than what was before.

Lelouch's nightmare upgrades in R2 were all just sort of waved off as, " rich engineer girl made it happen". So it's not like code geass is perfect in the development department
That is far different than handwaving an entire ending.
@@TheHeartThatRunsCold no its par for the course. his requiem was already nullified with his resurrection movie
@@fluffyisyermom7631 Movie is an alternate timeline that's why Shirley still around.
@@TheHeartThatRunsCold The Requiem itself is handwaving all the issues with it, especially of how it is portrayed. Which is why we get the revisionist dogma of "ohh well, it wasn't meant to be a lasting peace, Lelouch just wanted it to last for his sister" because Resurrection made everyone realize that the Requiem was a bullshit ending even if emotionally it was beautiful.
The Requiem is written to be the end of all wars, that was the explicitly attempt even directly mentioning the silly theory of the cycle of hate that have been popular in fiction in Japan for a long time now. Resurrection killed that interpretation so now people shift to a new one that ALSO nullifies the entire point of the Requiem.
It's semi-realistic that his sacrifice wouldn't it do anything in the long run, but it's depressing to see that his legacy was treated so....meh. It's a good thing that this is in the movie timeline and the series timeline is still safe.
But the fact that the Zero Requiem was still powerful and emotionally charged in the movie and series doesn't it right with anyone since OUR BOI took a sword to the chest and died for it in both timelines.
But, as you said, the main series timeline is intact, so the Requiem was only overturned in the movie timeline, which isn’t canon to the main timeline. In the series, the Zero Requiem doesn’t necessarily mean there will never be a war or conflict again, but it was a political reset and Lelouch left the world a lot better than it was before.
I think the question of whether or not we even want or need more Code Geass stories should be asked first. Don't get me wrong I love Code Geass. It's been my favorite anime since it came out. I just don't see a lot of room in the timeline to put new things in. Akito already felt ridiculous in a lot of ways being shoved in between the two seasons. Not that I didn't like it but the worldbuilding in it missed the mark in a few places. If Sunrise is going to move forward with this long term plan for Code Geass like they announced several years ago they'll need some conflict past the movie. Honestly the idea of the Zero Requiem, while cool and idealistic, is ridiculous and I think it would be cool if the new series or a future one explored humans returning to their base, violent nature in time. No matter what kind of reform or system you have there will always be bloodthirsty, greedy, ruthless, and ambitious people out there happy to break the peace for their own goals. I understand that undermines Lelouch's accomplishments but if we're moving into the future of Code Geass there's really no other way. The ending of the anime didn't really leave a lot of room for future conflicts without some bending. I also understand that message isn't an optimistic one but that's just the way it is and the way it'll have to be for these stories to happen.
I'm willing to give the new series a chance at the very least. I'm not terribly impressed with the synopsis released but if there's fun characters, cool Knightmares and all that I'll enjoy it well enough. I'd love some more sensible world building but I'm not holding my breath on that one at this point. It'll also be interesting to see how much Lelouch is in the new series, since I'm sure they're hesitant to make anything Code Geass related without him. I have no doubt he'll show up. I love Lelouch but if the series continues I hope eventually Code Geass can find it's footing without relying on him appearing in everything.
They could've given us OZ with the Zevons with some extra stuff
or Renya of Darkness which is set before Lelouch. With that said I enjoyed Akito the Exiled so will probably enjoy Rozé of the Recapture as well
@@symphonixblades Akito was good but for me Code geass is better as a series because even with Akito could've done well with exploring more of Europe and the EU forces
@@symphonixblades Akito was awesome when I saw it but it was kinda giving me aquarion anime vibes which I dont think I would wanted
Correct me if their is info to regard this but i thougut that leila and her squad went into hiding with the old ladies post akito storyline and didnt involve with any further military related things. Granted i havent been able to fully watch it all just going off what i recall and the wiki so if their was any material that says they returned if so
True but in the end of Re;surrection it is hinted that they all went to Japan.
So even though they might not want to partake in military things, they most likely would make an exception in this case.
@@MyMediaChops ah I didn't know their was a nod to them in the resurrection. Nice to see they got their opportunity to go. Speaking of akito storyline I do wonder if the whole skull thing was related to a geass shard thing or something cause that whole bit felt like their was meant to be more. As for my cents in the whole roze thing atm, the points made are more or less my thoughts baring my overall questions on how the world still is manufacturing kmfs after the whole Fuji. Even if that was only like say, 20% of the overall supply japan had it would still hamper somethings less they have utilized other energies like how nina initially intended her uranium project.
Now I’m even more confused, when did C2 go and talk to Shamna????
During Resurrection near the end.
Even after all this time I still rank CG in my top 5 anime. Akito was a solid addition. I'm slooowly working on Lost Stories but have found the story to be decent as well. So I'm willing to give this the benefit of the doubt even though it has too many "agains".
I saw the latest trailer, and this is all EXACTLY my thoughts. Yes, I am a huge fan as my pfp suggests. Code Geass is literally my favourite story ever made. The Akito OVAs were amazing except for the last one (way too rushed), and the rest is alternate stories so I didn't mind the lower quality (I never read Oz because I never found a fansub or even an official translation T_T).
This, though, feels like it's the continuation of the main universe.... and they literally pulled a Disney Star Wars plot. They can pull this 10/10 story down to the 5's....
I'll still watch it. I give it the benefit of the doubt. If it really is the same world, I'm expecting to see Lelouch and his reaction to the world turning to shit despite his actions. Same for the previous cast. At least _that_ can be interesting.
it makes sense. You can't really expect for something like this to end every war whatsoever. War will never end even if it's within a group who saved the world
While a few of your points are valid in theory, here's the thing: we still don't know enough at this point and we don't know anything about the characters. They're not going to spoil everything right away. They've been very coy and prudent about only teasing us. For example, I could describe the basic plot of Code Geass briefly without any spoilers and it would sound like a regular show, but it isn't. I think people should be open-minded and watch at least the first movie or two.
Everything after R2 is non canon in my eyes
It worries me that going to Disney consider Disney history with it partners and Bands that touches .
Sounds like an alternative universe reality Code Geass movie.
If yall actually watched Gundam, no one would be surprised that a Splinter Britannian faction roze up again to begin with.
Lelouch sacrifice is wasted? You guys really think peace would actually last uninterupted? no conflict for the rest of the lifetime? That's basically impossible with how tense everything was before the end of R2. I agree that there are way too many new ace pilots, but this isn't as bad as TFA in my opinion and it could be explained better in the actual show.
Finally somebody spoke the truth right here...
Remember this is Sunrise, Char's Counterattackiterally brought Char as a villain again and Amuro on the side of Federation again...
When they literally teamed up to takedown Titans several years ago.
It lasts as long as you let the series end on an optimistic high rather than drag it out with unnecessary sequels that undermine the far superior story.
Code Geass doesn't have to follow in the foot steps of Gundam.
Gundam's biggest flaw is that it should've ended more than a decade ago, and it seems Code Geass is repeating that same mistake.
@@theblasblas While I agree that the Universal Century should've ended long ago. I don't agree with the whole franchise ending. Unlike with Code Geass were there is only 1 universe and the movie trilogy in its name. Gundam has had multiple atlternate universes ever since G Gundam.
Every other Gundam show is self contained. There is no direct connection between the original Gundam and After War Gundam X, or Witch from Mercury, or Iron Blooded Orphans, or 00. They can exist even without the original to compare it to.
The fact they are still finding new stories to tell in this franchise is proof enough that it shouldn't end just yet. It has had decades of growth, letting it all end is a waste.
@@Rusty_Spy "and optimistic high" maybe if you never re-watched the series since high school. The Zero Requiem plan was always full of holes and reliant on false philosophical axioms (such as the idea of a cycle of hate), if you ever went back to Code Geass as an adult you appreciate the emotional high of the ending but the logic of the ending is rather poorly thought out.
Which is why if you hear people now defend Requiem they do so by literally changing the entire meaning of the Requiem and its goal.
Hear me out, the einberg knights formed after requiem because of the equality and how Britainnians discriminated towards Japanese, and felt this peace was unjust and that Britannia is the one sole nation to govern the world. They could gather a following of like minded people, enough to take over a small section in Japan, taking advantage of another conflict that might’ve arose. Then, this story is more than roze saving sakuya, but about the start of recapturing this area. It could be… but I’m just theory/guessing
Hence the RECAPTURE title. Would've been both funny and interesting 😁🤣
I always thought it was a little silly to expect the peace to last, I'm sure the world will probably still hate Britannia for the long history of imperialism, and I'm sure this new power dynamic has lead to constant deterioration of Britannia. Nature abhors a power vacuum, rich people hate it, and new Imperialists replace the old ones. I'm not expecting the general mind frame of an Imperialist nation to suddenly change, just because the , "lesser nations" are demanding it. I think its safer to say Lelouch just established a new framework for a new potential future, but to maintain this was always going to be a struggle. I don't think its supposed to be as good as the original, just a way to continue to the story and expand how difficult maintaining this new world order would be.
Might just drop it if we're going the Force Awakens route.
Since this film is going the route of Force Awakens then I'm dropping this series for good, and I'm never going to watch any Code Geass for now on.
@@RoronoaZoro-ur6hr I feel ya. I like the regular anime series. Didn't care for Akito and thought the movie was fine for 1 watch. I'd rather rewatch those.
Sounds like it's a good thing I haven't seen any of these sequels, if their trying to invalidate the theme of the origina anime.
well i am mostly blind to this ( ie i barely saw any trailers) so ill share my thoughts on the who and how ( feel free to politely correct me if i get some points wrong) as for who the villain army could be my guess is the old purist faction of brittana that was an old mention that was desloved quietly most of them we're idiots but some of the high high ups who knew how to fight and this is why they are using brittana's name and killing japances revenge for a defeat. as for how they got in well if its anything like the eroupean model if you have UFN citizenship you can mostly freely travel to any member state. and the equipment they have been shipping in parts for years. ( if i heard right this takes place after Resrection that is 2 years to build) and they had time to plan as for the shield my guess it could be a mix of the democles shield and the anti nightmare field used in R1. just better s even though the UFN might have counters its very expensive and might not be perfected yet esp if the shield keeps getting slightly upgraded ( a lot of technobabal would explen it better than i could) as for why some of the old main cast is not being called in some might be retiring to settle with family ( like okie and the general) others are to politically tied to the name britana ( like cornelia) so its a scandle for them to fight. as for suzaku he's tied to Nunnally so he cant leave her side. kellen might be trying but we seen she can be taken out. so there is legit reasons for the main cast ( i have never finished the side series so i can not say for them) not to fight but that depends on writers if they are smart enough or not. I'm sure there's both points and counter points to these thoughts. again i have barely seen any trailers so my thoughts could be limited. ill judge it when it comes out.
like tiberium twilight, i'm gonna pretend never knowing this code geass existence
So this takes place in the timeline that L2 and C2 live?
Well it's most likely a different timeline like the movies before so Lelouch plan didn't
Fail in the og timeline
the events are 5 years (supposedly) after Resurrection movie which is in a different timeline from the OG series
@@symphonixblades a far inferior timeline
@@snipersougo13 heh disagree, because it makes some fan favourite characters be alive and also continues the story where the series left off
@@symphonixblades bringing back characters isn't a good thing neither is continuing the story
@@snipersougo13 a story that doesn't end in Lelouch after all Code Geass have different protagonists , and the premise has always been about Japan vs The Holy Brittain Empire.
Code Geass in anime so far has 3 protagonists, Lelouch is the protagonist of Code Geass : Lelouch , there is also Akito and now Rozé.
In manga Suzaku and Nunnaly are protagonists of their own manga , then there is also Lelouch obviously , Oldrin Zevon and Renya ( set way before Lelouch was even born)
I was shocked to look up that this will stream on Disney+
Charles crying because he actualy had an entire army he could have used.
Yeah anything after r2 is not cannon in my eyes. If thet we're going to do a spin off they should've made a prequel or a far distance sequel like 200 years in the future.
It’s literally not canon though it doesn’t have to be just your opinion. The main series ends with episode 50 and the other stuff is in an alternate timeline, which is not canon to the main series.
This undermines everything that zero work for It destroys the zero requiem plan basically saying that everything that he did was pointless because they’re still at war on a global scale with who…Britannia smh I would love to see code geass continue but this plot is straight out of left field And goes against everything that the original series worked so hard to setup
I wish they'd gone the Macross route and put the Code Geass world against Aliens that are in fact the ones who sent CC's people to prepare Earth for occupation, with both sides (Earth's Integration and the Independance sides) choosing champions wielding Geasses powers. Or the Gundam's one with space conquest and the outer planets going rogues.
In any case a 20+ years time skip would have been better for a whole new generation to appear while having the old guard in their 40s.
Didn't know they had this project going on; I'll stick to the original anime. Not really interested in any of the others iterations they made since.
I just want more Lelouche. The continuation of the universe where he came back to life. I want to see the conclusion to that story, not some random characters.
I just want geass lore and the origin of the brittania empire
wait, is the movie cannon to this? like is lelouch just chilling with c2
oh?
I'm confused there is a new CG movie or something?
I covered it in pervious videos tldr
Japan is getting 4 films and we are getting those 4 films in a 12 episode tv series
I feel like it’s very realistic In my opinion Britannia was literally too big to fall over night it was a big complaint I had about the original
Oh shit……
I will be pissed if this new series undermines everything that occurred in R1 and R2.
just put it in the "alternate timeline" box.
just like how some purist put Shirley being alive in the alternate timeline box.
sunrise has been foraying into alternate timelines that part of the original story but different,
just look at recent gundam projects: thunderbolt, Silver phantom, Requiem for vengeance.
This is what's known as beating a dead horse.
Code geass has an amzing ending one of the best Ive seen its a shame that they want to trample on that ending to milk the fandom more.
For me, Code Geass ended with R2 with everything neatly tied up. Everything else is fanfic.
Correct interpretation. And I know they’ve tried to expand the world with some side stories, but Code Geass is really about Lelouch. The whole narrative and world building was constructed around telling his story.
What makes me chuckle is that if you look at the Zero Requiem for a moment without nostalgia goggles, the entire premise is so unfathomably stupid. Humanity has always and will always fight over scarce resources no amount of uniting against a common enemy will change this.
Hell in our own world the US and the Soviet Union worked to take down the Germans in WW2….only to immediately start the Cold War.
The Zero Requiem in the main timeline is intact. The other stuff is alternate timeline which isn’t canon to the main series. Lelouch left competent people in charge of important positions, and Kallen’s last scene confirms they had started to enact policies to help solve poverty. So the example has been set and it would just require the next leaders to continue this. With Lelouch setting the example of somebody that people will never want to see again and that means people and leaders will be skeptical of anybody who starts to act in ways that are out of pure self interest.
There’s been loads of wars in the real world, but nobdoy has ever been able to threaten and checkmate the entire planet on a news broadcast like Lelouch did.
Since you're so good at geopolitics, you should have noticed that the world has tended to unified countries for the past century. Europe now has the European Union, the United States are self-explanatory, and even these different nations are tied through the UN. War doesn't happen between countries from the UN, because treaties don't allow that.
The Zero Requiem is literally that: the instauration of a worldwide UN organization. Starts with Britannia conquering the entire world, then cutting its "evil face" and replacing it with a more diplomatic and democratic system.
There's nothing stupid here, it's just portrayed ideally because it's the ending of a show.
After that last movie, will this one even be worth it?
we will see
Boy, I sure love it when a franchise invalidates all the efforts that came before the currently developing series!
I have a question is this a sequel to the Resurrection movie or the OG timeline R2
It is a sequel to Re;surrection
@MyMediaChops ok Cool so even if it dose end up messing up the ending
Its not the og timeline and then if it ends up being good then thats a bonus I can live with that
Resurrection is also canon in the main continuity.
@@Dream-ye7utit's not Resurrection is cannon to the new continuity from the recap movies (which changed some stuff here and there)
@@Dream-ye7utNot true. At least one character survives her canon death in Ressurection.
@3:25
People should remember that resurrection is only the second timeline! I am fine, if they ruin this timeline, because the anime series timeline is the canon for me!
they should have let the series rest with its original ending
The 2nd half of the second part of the Zero thing, where he gets his memorys back and stuff is fine, but then isn't a rebellion anymore somehow then becomes king because of sister... what didn't make any fucking sense to me. the 1st half was entirely good. the 2nd half beginning was fine, but what the fuck happened in the 2nd half half ending?
His sister has weapon, he defeats her idk?
His friend becomes fake zero? what?
Real zero dies? Wait why did he die? why did he become power overlord?
what the fuck happened in the entire second half that made any sense?
we couldn't just get a rebellion story line thing?
My Code Geass ended in R2. Anything that follows are just spin-offs to me that I don't bother to watch.
the story happens 5 years after resurection
... I rather read fanfiction.
Me too
So there is no cannon sequel to R series?
I know the 2019 movie is not cannot to R and it cannon to 3 re cap movies so when we will get season 3?
I recommend reading manga too, the movie is canon with some differences.
there's Akito the Exiled which is between S1 and S2 of the Rebellion series. No sequel of it, after that it's the recap movies which create a new timeline and Resurrection
The only way this can work is if they CHUCK it full of fanservice of the bubbly kind.
That's the only redeeming value it will have
Are any of these movies even cannon? Is their any point to watching them.
Here's a solution : let Yoshiyuki Tomino write an entry, idm it being as insane and much of a mess like G-reco at least its something fresh and new
Damn it.
Can L.L. and C.C. get a brake.
i feel so: Meh
I would love if this was a au of what would happen after resurrection
It does take play after Re;surrection
Man i do feel they are beating the dead horse of code geass it died on purpose let it rest please
tbh, its bound to happen. If you think about the ending of AoT with the world's retaliation to Paradis, its the same "Temporary" Peace.
Even then the era of peace in aot lasted at least a couple generations, and even longer than that in the anime.
lol it’s pointless. Typical cash cow clinging on to an existing IP. Doubt it will do well.
Code has 2 season and finish with zero requiem, everything else is bonus. Same for dragon ball, dbs is a bonus and nothing else.
You really think this was anything else but a cash grab?
I just wanna see how kallen is doing in these years after being dumped by lelouche 😂😂
Risking to be hated like boruto by creating a spin off that possibly invalidate the previous mc's effort. Hopefully this turns out to be good.
