So much to unpack. He’s singing while sitting, in two ranges and two languages, neither of which is his native language. I find his Italian quite good. And I love his “male” voice.
Another Filipino pure talent without voice training. Thanks Marcelito Pomoy for putting our country on world map and kudos for supporting our talents.
Keep in mind that Marcelito was homeless for years and on the streets and SELF taught. All of the vocal techniques you so artistically notice came naturally to him.
There's definitely a lot going on here. Not only is he alternating between his head voice and chest voice but each of them are essentially in different styles and different languages neither of which are his native language. Plus from a performance perspective he's also sitting down. You can see at one point he grabs the desk to brace himself for a belt. Arguably not a flawless performance but still pretty darn amazing. Great reaction.
Well, I would like to recommend two of his performance on America's Got Talent the Champions, either "Con Te Partirò" or "Beauty and the Beast" 😁
I am rooting for your reaction in his performance in AGT "Time to Say Goodbye".
He was told by the people at the Wish Bus that he swallowed the 2 singers so you see him at the very end appear to yawn but he was letting the 2 singers out...was a joke to the people there.

You know what's impressive about this performance? 1. He's sitting down 2. On a bus 3. On a radio station 4. Not just switching from male to female parts also changing language's So impressive.
Not to mention neither of the languages he's singing in are is native language.

totally insane that hes doing accents of languages that are not his first language and even using the correct Italian to English accent for Andrea's voice.
The story is that he was joking with the bus folks about having a tiny soprano hidden in his throat. At the end of the song, her job is done, so he spits her out. 😁
I saw an interview with Marcelito and he said that final gesture was getting those voices out of his head!☮️❤️

in my humble opinion "The power of love " is a symposium on the female head voice .. It is what I think people should start to listen to him on, then hear other covers he does ..... both songs are great but really melodic singing comes in when he sings this great cover, another Celine Dion classic ..can not wait for you to react

You can tell he has listened to Celine Dion’s diction of French/Canadian. He pronounces his words on the female part almost exactly like Celine. If he had proper vocal training I think he would find his own voice. He is an amazing singer and I feel his voice very underrated. People are amazed that he can do both voices, that they miss the pure quality of his own voice! My hope for him is that he gets to do what he wants to with his voice. His Opera voice is stunning and so amazing. I will listen to whatever he does because his voice is so unique and powerful ❤

He has an album in which he does both parts completely then mixes them for the true duet sound, The album is called "Duet Yourself"
Great reaction. Marcelito is self-taught. He had a difficult childhood. Dad was incarcerated, & mom later abandoned him & his sibling. He was later adopted by a policeman. He worked odd jobs & worked in a chicken farm. While working in the farm, he would sing while working & discovered he could do dual voice. Btw, there are many Filipino male singers who can do this & there are even singing contests doing this called Doble Kara.

Great vocal analysis as always 💙 I suggest his "TIME TO SAY GOODBYE" performace in AGT. The transition is so ridiculous where he switches from female to male voice in between a word. SO INSANE!!!🔥🔥🔥
He does that switch within a word in a Tagalog song before he won Pilipinas Got Talent.
I think when you watch his guesting on gandang gabi vice, where the host make fun of him playing ak human remote control, its mind blowing how marcelito can shift his voice anytime in between words.

I actually started watching this, and when you paused I was like "nope, I am not ready yet." I had to go listen to the original a couple times, let it all sink in before I could go back and even beginning to listen to you meticulously brake this one down. :)
I also agree I would like to see him just focus on that more chest voice sound, just to see how powerful he can go with it.

YES!! I love that you listened to this YOUR way! Sometimes I have to stop recording because I don't want to pause and just need to let it all sink in.
I do that so often. I will seek out the original(thanks for providing the link BTW) and listen to it 1st, open the reaction in another link, especially if I have never heard the artist or heard them sing that particular song, then I will listen to the reaction. I do this with other reactors, especially if they are reacting and just randomly guessing what "this phrase means" or even getting someone's name wrong. I research it myself.
I know some reactors might want to be completely surprised, but guessing and posting incorrect info can be harmful to an artist, and people will believe what is 'guessed as fact' rather than find out the correct info. When your reputation is on the line, its important to be correct. While others just want more views.
He is a voice chameleon but you can hear his "other voice" when he sang Secret Love Song with Morissette Amon during a Wish Bus Award celebration.

I enjoyed your reaction and your delight, thank you. He is self-taught, so he could probably be even better with an insightful teacher. (I think he could show the teacher some new things too.) You might not know, but there is a Philippine tradition of men singing in two voices. Since his native language is Tagalog, he is singing not only in two voices but in two unfamiliar foreign languages, which must add another layer of difficulty. And he is sitting down. How he gets enough breath to do what he does is a mystery to me.
His little gesture at the end isn’t a yawn, it’s a joke. He explained elsewhere that he is spitting out Celine Dion.

Yes, I agree, it is still a mystery to me too. It's a God -given talent to a very good man, Marcelito Pomoy.
Yes, it's an "in-joke": someone once had asked him whether he had swallowed a woman to sing like that, and thus he sometimes visibly spits out that woman again after the end of a song.

We have a Singing Contest here in the Philippines called DOBLE CARA ( TWO FACE ) where a man dress half a woman n the face painted half woman then sings in a dual voice and MARCELITO is the very very very best of the best..

You need to understand that there's no conscious "technique" here -- he's an incredibly talented mimic who has figured out what he needs to do to imitate both Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli. That's what he's doing, and it's stunningly effective.

The technicality of how to produce those notes in both Male and Female parts with the knowledge that Mr. Pomoy is only self thought is just so immaculate. Fun fact in the early 1990's or earlier we have traditional singers called "Doble Kara" or Double Sing which they can sing both Male and Female voice but then again there are many talented Filipino. I suggest you review Ms. Regine Velasquez which is also known as Asia's Songbird, Ms. Lanie Misalucha also known as Asia's Nightingale and last one is Ms. Jaya also a Soul Diva. They are the Vocal Trinity of the Philippines
Undoubtedly, the greatest vocal performance I’ve ever seen.
Just flipped over from watching the Bass Singers reaction to this. Interesting to see you / both analysis side by side. My understanding is that Marcelito had absolutely no vocal training - is entirely self taught and of course, has perfect pitch.
One has to wonder where he might be today if he'd had formal training from early years, but what he's achieved, vocally and otherwise* in his life is TRULY GREAT.
# He was an abandoned street orphan by age 7, trying to care for a younger sibling, and was adopted by a policeman. Worked for his keep in many odd jobs, and whilst working in a poultry factory, around age 19, kept himself amused by singing, where everyone around him { except for the jealous one's who told him to shut up } told him; "You should be on TV!" So that's where he headed. He didn't succeed at his first few attempts, but persisted, and persisted... And persisted! Eventually winning Philippines Got Talent at age 26. From there he did a performance on the Wish Bus, got noticed by Ellen DeGeneres and invited onto her show, and from there invited onto AGT, eventually performing on AGT Champions show.
# Today, Marcelito is still a huge star in his home country and still causing jaws to drop all around the world, but his * CHARITY WORK with the poorest of the poor should grab our EQUAL ATTENTION { See 'Where is he now?} NOW? He is equally busy 'Giving Back'. Building basic shelters for and feeding the homeless.

"Con Te Partiro" in America's Got Talent's Battle of Champion
I was going to refrain from commenting in these CZcams videos but I feel compelled to do otherwise as of the thousands of reactions I have heard of this particular video, you are the only one who is just as "obsessed" with that particular note/tone; that particular "choice" he made. Very smart indeed. He does this once more when he sang Beauty and the Beast at AGT, in the line "Both a little scared". I have seen him live a couple of times now in Toronto. The VIDEOS DO NOT DO HIS VOICE ANY JUSTICE. If you want to hear his natural singing voice check out Tagalog songs Pagbabalik and Aasa Sa Awa Mo Ama. I have seen some great singers live...Céline, Stevie, Tom and many others...Marcelito has had the most impact on me live. They had the volume at maximum level. I had the privilege of chatting with him the back stage after the show on July 30th; all I could say was: "What a voice"!!! He thanked me, then we talked.

Enjoyed hearing you reactions. I’ve never heard another voice with the talents that he has. Never any professional voice training plus he singing in both Italian & English neither is his native language.
