They very clearly prepared ck3AGOT for Tours and Tournaments.
We need to prepare hunt asap - to kill that boar and save our King Bobby B!
Seeing as there's at least one former CK2 AGOT developer on the CK3 dev team, I have no doubt this DLC was made with that in mind.
I quite like that the game is slowly moving away from being solely focused on war and conquest but more and more on peaceful roleplay and story growth. I wonder how well the two will fit together for multiplayer games.
Doesn't everyone play CK as a dating/incest simulator? 😬😅 Although I did also love becoming grandmaster of the Satanists in CK2 🥰
I like playing tall but it gets a bit boring after a while. More court RP and peaceful activities would be very nice for me.
I think it's because pdx realized that before they were competing with themselves. Like this they have different genres of games that accomodate different niches. CK is becoming more and more a roleplay ruler game, vic is becoming a economy diplomacy game. Idk what they have planned for EU5 though since there are places where they could massively improve over 4.
@@cameron6770 That's why I still sometimes play CK2. I really loved the societies they added into it. I love doing a satanist or shia or learning game. They just feel enjoyable to play.
An idea for multiplayer is give a setting to allow players to join other peoples tournaments no matter what and everyone participates (even if they are far away) so the game doesnt slow to a crawl for others.

I love how they included a small easter egg in the trailer, where count "Ulrich (von Liechtenstein)" won the horse race winner. If not coincidence this might be a nod to the 2001 "A knight's Tale" film. These things make me love this game and Paradox even more!!
Or maybe the real historical guy who was one of the most famous tournament knights in the Middle Ages

This expansion looks like CK3's second release!
I was skeptical when this expansion was first announced, but every dev diary and announcement has won me over more than the last. This is the kind of expansion I expected when the DLC structure was first explained before CK3's release.
I hope they add the ability to play as someone unlanded It'd be dope to start out as a stable boy or something and be around horses so you're great at jousting making a name for yourself at tourneys and then you get a small tower after impressing a lord enough or being his champion and winning. A true way to start from scratch and build up
I understand wanting to roleplay this but it's definitely not a "true way" to start from scratch and build up. Stable boys would've been adolescent peasants and they wouldn't have known to the first thing about jousting or combat in general. They definitely wouldn't have risen up to becoming a landed champion. Modern people can't even begin to image how immobile the medieval world was. Even the poster boy for this William Marshall was already apart of that time's 1% because his father was a baron.

I hope we get Polo as a activity/game just like wrestling, duel etc. specially for Iranic cultures in the future.
I think modders will add few more activityes/games so if not officily we will still get few more to chose after some time
I think, if they add it, it will be with the legacy of Persia dlc that will come out later this year (September-December)

@@KayKusoden You right as Ganlix said they maybe add it with legacy of persia after all that dlc is all abot adding debt to that area so logicl they should add some traditions activity to that region we can only wait and hope but if the paradox dont deliver maybe some modders will

I do think wars need a overhaul in CK3 (it's a problem when you have Crusades in the title but your crusades are broken) but on the flip side I do thinking the drift from map painting is 100% the right move. Really excited for this expansion.
exactly, I want map painting to be organic and not forced because there isnt anything else to do
man are crusaders broken or what! they are impossible to win, even if you dont get in the top 3 participants. they are only winnable when you are already OP and can send massive troops but not even then cause you may have an impressive 20k personal army but the enemy has a combined 30-40k army and your alliance are all scattered. I think all could be fixed if there were features that lets allies coordinate better

My question is , what will all that amount to? Will it merely be the same sort of system just with some extra steps for relation boosts or positive modifiers? If not, then its just throwing pearls before swines if it wont affect anything in the grand scheme of things.

im already scheming on how the new tour mechaincs could work for converting unreformed realms, as well as societies.
I hope they boost the gold output from buildings and other source of income because by the looks of it, tourneys could be ludicrously expensive.

its not a good sign if the thing you get most exited about is the future mods of the dlc. Just maybe the game developers should put more effort in their expansions, so we dont need mods to make the game intresting.

Hope the agot ck3 team takes a lot of use of these mechanics. How it currently works in that mod, and in the original ck2 mod is very spammy. This will make it great

Almost all culture in CK3 practices falconry. Except southern africa on the map and southern India. They might have falconry but i don't have any knowledge about them

From what little has been said, Legendary Hunt is the new systems method of doing what already is in the game... when you get that 'rare White Stag' event line. It's just been tidied up in the new system... you need to hear rumors of the 'legendary' beast in question, and go hunt it.

I am seeing a lot more ways to spend money, but will there be other ways to make money as well?
Please allow player characters to personally fight in battles. My carefully crafted martial characters just sit there with insane prowess instead of putting it to use and scoring kills in battle.

I do enjoy how they have the ability in there to host these events with the express intent of using them as a cover to kill people, red wedding style. It looks good and I like the multi-tiered traits and how you can participate in the events that you want to, and it'll make mods like AGOT even better, being able to partake and see things like the infamous tourney at Harrenhal. That being said, this DLC is worth $42.95 AUD. For what is at the end of the day, an event pack. This isn't Blood and Wine from the Witcher 3, or the old hunters from Bloodbourne, its not a whole new game or area or experience, its a flavor pack with some new events.
I know you want to make money paradox, but you release these incredible games and then make a thousand DLCs, not only does that strain the goodwill of us fans, but now you're doing that, and charging twice the price of what they should be sold at. I don't think I have to go through and list the things one could buy for $42.95, but for some new text and some new events thats asking WAY too much.
Yeah I don't get it either, this DLC is actually HORRIBLY overpriced everywhere, 38$ Canadian too. When Age of Wonders 4 is about to come out for 59$ , like wtf? I thought this would 5 or 10 bucks for like you said, mostly just a couple of events and nothing really crazy mechanic wise.
Im just relaxing here in South Africa after paying R100 for all 4 dlc, thats like 3 dollars
You are so underselling the magnitude of the mechanical impact in this update/DLC, by calling it just another event pack. Read up on the dev diaries, or just look up OPB's analyse videos on them.

It has me quite worried that setting up a tournament will necessitate over 50 mouse clicks. This UI may be very clear and detailed, but will not provide the best UX in its current state
How the hell are we going to afford all of this I play tall and get like 50 gold a month but I saw 1700 gold that seems a little steep I will have to raid all of Iberia/Constantinople on a continuous cycle and now I can’t teleport either

Given that horseback riding will now be a thing, I have a simple aesthetic question: Will women ride "sidesaddle" or will the riding animation be the same for both men and women?
Horseback riding? Where else would you ride a horse?
Side saddle doesnt make sense at all.
It was more of a fashion/culture thing for the later part of the medieval era and had absolutely no real use.

This seems more RPG than grand strategy. Also, the most expensive tournament set-up would be ~1,000 gold which would cost more than it takes to form an empire? I guess this could be more for stable polities or lower ranked rulers far from the borders. It seems niche but maybe expanding an empire is niche too.
Most complaints are having too much money not enough to sink into. This dlc solves that
@@jet-fury Disagree, you wont have the money unless you start with a powerful established Kingdom, build tall, or map paint. Why would hosting anything cost more than building a unique building? Its dumb asf

@@rkelypnonu9423 I always start as a 1 county count and usually play tall, as a minor Duke. Tribal at that. Always end up with more money than I can spend. It's inevitable.

Looks cool but still does not solve the core problem in ck3 for me, which is the lack of family "progression" or development. I can easily see me loving this DLC for 3 or 4 playthroughs and not caring about it anymore because once my character that participated in the events shown in the video dies, nothing of it remains (except maybe a few royal court itens), which makes investing more time into longer campaings unworthwhile.

I dont understand all these dlc and expansion when anyone could steamroll the ai in less than an hour. Why not have a better AI first, doesnt matter how many expansions there is if its still boring.
