      Hopefully as a law we can do that (especially for the Byzantines since that's actually how their succession worked during the medieval period, they would appoint an heir by naming them Co-Emperor/Symbasilius who would effectively be the second in command of the Empire)

      Buddhists and confucians could designate heirs before as well as pagans with a certain reform, Iqta could do it also just by making a certain son the strongest when you are near death. The Byzantines could make their son a despot or the one born in purple do better in elections but you need to bribe electors to get the one you want. We will see if it continues.

    The succession needs to be remade like in ck2 where it was accurate historically. The way they did it makes no sense and you have to play for 2 days to research the one law you like. That would be fine for countries that actually had problems with that in history , but they just slapped the same system on all countries , well except for the byzantine empire. In fact the entire tech tree system with year barriers needs to be reworked in my opinion, it's the one major flaw i have with the game. Also i can not believe they messed up the entire Family of Boris-Michael of Bulgaria considering he, and his son are the most loved rulers in Bulgarian history, and his son SImeon who forced the Byzantines to give him the title Tzar and accept him as the emperors equal and was considered the strongest ruler in the west by the empire.. Boris was not a warrior like they made him out to be and the fact he has low learning is simply insulting considering he was a failure as a warrior khan in his early life. , his son SImeon who the devs made a generic character is one of the greatest tzars in Bulgarian history and also known as the Great. Succession was a big problem for their family but because of religion , the eldest son always inherited everything by law as it was in many other kingdoms at the time. This game is a downgrade from ck2 in my opinion just because of how lazy systems like successions are.

    I have one question about the title succession tho: Like imagine you have the Kingdom of England and Ireland created and you hold them. If you know add the Saxon elective to England, it will not count for Ireland right? So even if England elects your second son, your first son gets Ireland, right?

    Just in case anyone takes away any misapprehensions from Bavarian's example...
    Alfred the Great was never king of England. He only really held power in Wessex and held strong influence over Mercia. There are some sources which might suggest he had some influence over Northumbria after the death of King Guthfrith in 895, but nothing solid. Alfred's grandson Athelstan (who might actually have more right to the epithet 'the great') became the first King of England.

      Indeed, this might profit from just a bit of clarification! The video has an example of alt-history as it is possible only in CK3! It is indeed not historically correct - neither this video's Alfred I, nor Alfred II!

    • @MrKILLINOOBZ
      @MrKILLINOOBZ Před 3 lety

      The only problem is when you start getting big, elective will inevitably lead to civil wars (IE Byzantium right now which is essentially an elective monarchy after the HF update which is kinda meh and not entirely accurate since the Emperor would appoint a Co-Emperor who would be second in command of the empire and the heir)
      Theres only so many bribes you can get and you never know when your ruler will die so say you bribe one, it lasts for 10 years but your character dies 11 years later when you're in the middle of a war and had to hire some sellswords for example. That said, the Byzantines are at least a meritocratic elective meaning the one with the best traits gets the throne
