What a great band they were! With Gary Wright’s recent passing, guitarist Luther Grosvenor is now sadly the only surviving member of the original line-up.
Great band. I have the original version from the "Spooky Two LP" 1969 it is one of the most valuable rock songs ever. And this live version is also great. But the original studio recording is OMG...Brutal full of harmonies 20/20..!!!!
I was listening to Spooky 2 only last weekend, on vinyl no less. This album and "It's All About" have been in my record collection for around 55 years. Really!! Luther Grosvenor's guitar solo on "Evil Woman" is breathtaking, considering he was only 17 or so years of age at the time. The solo on this live version is garbage compared to Luther's. Try and find the album version. Mindblowing.
I love the original studio take, but damn they still hit hard as senior rockers! Thanks for posting this - the commercial in the middle sucked, though ;)
Supergroup still rock'n with the two best original vocalists in Spooky Tooth 👻 🤪 must be in their 70's or past on now in 2022! But this is 2009???Treasure this!
Great band with two wonderful vocalists . One of my favorite albums from 1969.Mike Harrison had one of the grittiest soulful voices in the U.K.from that period . I loved Joe Cocker Steve Winwood, Eric Burdon, Tom Jones, Mick Jagger, Steve Marriot , Rod Stewart & etc. There were so many great blue eyed bluesey soul singers with grit to their vocals from that era. If I missed anyone please feel free to add to this list . UK only.
Ya know man im hittin 30 soon, but bet your ass we burned a few down just drivin around with these tunes on man. My pops gave me the keys to a 68 Toronado (In that sin of a color cinnamon brown) My junior year of highschool with a stack of 8 tracks in the back seat. Had the thing like a week and Blue oyster cults, Spectres got stuck in the 8 track player,....only played the first song. Wasn't even that mad because its Godzilla, one of the best jams ever. But when i was trying to sell it, i had a guy come take it for a test drive.....turned out he wasnt a big Blue Oyster Cult fan.....
It's the 20th time I watch this and the second I comment and not to sound redundand, I LOVE this band, listen to these two (now Defunct , RIP, great great Gentlemen, why do always the golden ones leave us ?) it is fantastic.
Mike Kellie was a great drummer, never overplayed but pushed the band along and put his mark on all their songs, he used my drums when I did a gig with them in about 69/70 in Essex u.k, great band and Mike Harrison was one of our best and most underated singers!, Sadly missed
wow they sound awesome for older guys, quite often in a band by this point the performance's are abit lack luster, the vocals sound perfect not worn out,and the band is tight as.
this band was AMAZING to say the least, Gary was fantastic, (RIP) Harrison sings fantastic, this whole concert I wish so much. I would have seen it. WOW
i saw spooky tooh in dusseldorf 1969 ...like bands from Mars--hugs and R:I:P: Mike Harrison..for all my life spooky tooth are inside my heart and my mind..
this track in particular, i find...tends to fit with the tracks on "ceremony" (not accepted that well by most spooky fans, and gary wright ofcourse) ...its a scortching track! awesomeness. and mike harrison had one of the best voices ever. R.I.P.
Spooky Tooth played in Detroit quite a bit in the early 70s...Masonic Temple and a couple other venues. Does anyone know for sure who was in the touring outfit in those years? This was around the You Broke my Heart and Witness releases...not before. I didn't realize until recently that Mick Jones was in the recording band during this era. Thank you.
It's too bad they weren't appreciated by a wider audience in their day, but it's obvious they still have the passion and the chops-maybe they have something.
LOVE THESE GUYS, OTHER MUSICIANS RIPPED THEM OFF BIG TIME, I MEAN EXACTLY, TOOTH, KINKS AND TREX GET RIPPED OFF EVERYDAY, I DON'T MIND BUT I DO MIND THAT THEY DON'T GET THE CREDIT THEY SHOULD HAVE, VERY FUKIN INFLUENTIAL BAND, AND THANK U MIKE, R.I.P
Gary Wright was an amazing musician and performer, will be dearly missed RIP
True. RIP
Mike Harrison’s voice was amazing, decades after doing this on Spooky Two.
One of my fave British singers of the 70's.
Much better, I must say than Mr. Wrights
gary wright can still hit thise notes in his 60's. What a voice.
Harrison's voice is seasoned and maybe better now than in the 70's
I'm so glad I grew up listening to music from this era.

I had this original LP as well but it vanished....was little known at the time. Excellent music...wish I still had the LP
Very fitting for todays excuses for wo-MEN
I have the album from the Columbia record club. Still sounds AWESOME!!!!

Under rated and over looked at the time. The 70's . Still some of the best music.
Music from this era is the best! So many great bands and they knew how to excite a crowd!
Mike Harrison R.I.P.
So many happy memories of listening to this Band, in the late 60's....Spooky Two was always on my Turntable ( remember them )........
Отлично сказано!..
Spooky Tooth is the best. And Mike Harrison, alone, is worth for all in this incredible band. A lesson in Hard Rock with feeling and guts.
2004
Wright voice is also remarkable
I love the original studio take, but damn they still hit hard as senior rockers! Thanks for posting this - the commercial in the middle sucked, though ;)

You broke my heart so I busted your jaw! I listened to that LP until I could see through it.
Unsung heroes of the past. Still sound damn good.
Back in the 70's we just loved to get high and cruise around lisrtening to stuff like this on the 8-track. Good times gone by...
Totally Agree
I hear ya. Got dusted a might to.

Pure GENIUS! Even when they were older here they were more dynamic than most bands
Great drummer. Nailed the tempo . Awesome band needless to say.
That's Mike Kellie, Spooky Tooth's original drummer. He passed away in 2017.
Good point, sounds fricken perfect.

I wish I was there. Holy cow!!!!!!!! At least we have this video till the end of time.

this band was AMAZING to say the least, Gary was fantastic, (RIP) Harrison sings fantastic, this whole concert I wish so much. I would have seen it. WOW
Mike Harrison's and Gary Wright's vocals just seem to compliment each other. Gary wrote the song. He is one of my musical heroes.

Takes me back when they gigged Grimsby Jazz Club over 50 years ago. Still love em.
RIP Mike Harrison
He sounds SO SO good here too....
Guitarist might of looked at his guitar for 5 seconds out of 10 minutes haha....Excellent guitar work....Excellent song...
He was too busy shovin' it in Gary Wright's face for making a no-guitars album :)
I will play this song at my wife's funeral
I want my wife to play it on mine.
