- Kenya's economy is in serious trouble. The country's leadership has just pushed through Parliament a budget that is driven by the need to collect as much tax as possible. In fact, the government's target of Kshs 3.6 trillion in the 2023/2024 budget is Kshs 1.5 trillion more than the 2022/2023 budget. This speaks to the desperate situation that Kenya is in. But Kenya's debts don't come from thin air.
This series breaks it all down. It is a story of at least a decade of mismanagement of Kenya's loans, shocking corruption and debt dependency that has led the country to this point told by auditors, analysts and insiders.

This episode shows why we r in trouble. The same folks that got the country in trouble are the same ones saying they will fix it.
😂😂😂😂Ghana is same
The Irony Man. I sincerely hope this mess is sorted out because this is how we got to where we currently are.
I don't think as a country we'll be able to pay off all these looted loans. At some point we'll have to break. Spirit of resiliency will end
Kenya is like an employee with a payslip, but it has over committed the paycheck to the point that it constantly runs on a deficit in their budget...we are spiralling down the sri lankan way into an economic collapse...
People are too thick with tribalism to care reality will come knocking hard when the shilling becomes worthless
Henry Rotich knows the Truth....
its so sad to actually know that this huge amount of money was stolen with the so called leaders of today n former government ,its so painful seeing African leaders (especially my own country Kenya) n they r all walking free same still in offices stealing .it has to stop. the normal mwananchi is the one suffering the most. Big shout to @ALAN
@AFRICA UNCENSORED for the amazing work. Thanks for educating us n opening our eyes...time will come...
John is the most informative, courageous and or independent journalist in Kenya...his work is undisputed...i love it all
People need to start asking hard questions. Kenya is now owned by a few greedy leaders 😢😢😢
What an insightful reporting @John Allanamuh
Kenya is the type of country where a you budget for $10 to do a project but borrow $150 for the same project, use $4 out of the original $10 and use that $4 to do a shoddy job on the said project while $156 goes into private hands to build personal projects like the ugly apartment buildings springing up on every little space available and huge personal maisonettes which look magnificent on the outside but with trashy interiors and wasted open spaces.
100% everyone eats, but I think someone ate more than he was supposed to before someone else realised and when he tried to explain the reason,He was better in eating and framing the one who trusted him, this the calamity
So very true!!
Ugly apartments 100%
What you say is right, but your math doesn't add up.
@@musamusashi That is the point... on top of stealing, the math is never meant to add up. If it added up, then it means you can trace the money and the thug who ransacked it...
Dualle and ichungwa should now keep quite. They led us into the current mess. They can't fain innocence......
We should ask ourselves who is the last person to sign in so that we can get the money, your guess is as good as mine
Headline reads uhuru/raila mps raise debt ceiling..
@@williamwatitwa3534 it doesnt matter whats important is the people who looted people like cant accept the truth Ruto and his thugs government looted even in Jubilee
@@catherineikovwa3401You're right! Instead of just being dispassionately interested in the genesis and the truth, whatever it is; some are only bothered about and keen on apportioning blame upfront.
In reality, though, it's important to understand the theft mechanisms, in order to device workable antidotes, rather than being ceased with rooting for or against any particular demigod, or untouchable, who may or may not be involved in squandering public resources.
Kindly do 40mins so as to exhaust a topic and if possible release the longer form episodes weekly. Thank you for this, I am learning, the worsening economy doesn't just happen, it is made to happen by those in leadership.
Great point you make but again my fear is that this process or controlled info release is not stymied! Small doses make for info to sink well and avoid overload. KE is one great heist! All the current crop of leaders lack the character to selflessly steward public resources! 😢
The question I always ask myself is this, why are Kenyan banks always so complacent when it comes to transfer and transactions of such huge amount of cash? Ama there's a cut they get in every goverment money laundering they help facilitate?
I mean for an ordinary Kenyan, you can't transfer 2-5M without the bank asking you 99 questions and filling countless forms. But these mobsters through the help of banks are transferring billions of stolen cash without hustle. Sad!
Some have family banks or they own banks.
Following this closely....Release the next one soon
How comes this is not aired in citizen tv KTN, nation TV, k24? Tell the kenyans the truth.
Good Job Allan.
The suspense will kill us.
Walahiii, another 2weeks sipping coffee 😢😂
Ichungwa knows everyone in that govt is taking us for a ride.....bt mungu ni nani kitawaramba
Good job Allan and crew. But the episodes are too short guys. Mnatuonjesha tu kanyama kadogo kadogo😀. But we really appreciate the job you guys are doing for our democracy in Kenya and beyond. GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU!
this deserves national attention. the 10k views just doesnt do this any justice imo.
Your team is absolutely exceptional 👏🏾. Your research/investigation is outstanding!!
Thank you for your service 🙏🏾
Kudos to team Africa Uncensored.
Perfect knowledge from John Alan Namu for educating Kenyans about greedily government of personal interest.
Interesting work....am looking out for the nextr episode!!!
A Conversion bigger than the cost of living, probably we wouldn't be talking about cost of living if this moneys never got misappropriated
You are right, the dams and roads would be many and hence the impact on cost of food and movement.
Great investigative series, keep it up, even though what you're uncovering is depressing.
It is so sad that those who messed the country are the same ones still running the government and promising to fix it. Wajambazi tupu
Great job Allan.
Am yet to find any new information in these documentaries , what i need to know is where the money went , we all know money was lost but where to is the question we need answered.
Too short.. we need like 40 minutes of content
Good job and well-researched. Keep the expose rolling!
They are too short! 25mins mins is better where you tackle one "topic" exhaustively! but keep up the good work.
WELL ARTICULATED thank You.
Eagerly waiting for your upload
quite an eye opener, way to go! What of part 4,lini?
Greedy leaders behaving as if they will carry even a single dime to their graves! Quite unfortunate that the already over burdened Wanjiku is the one bearing the brunt! The so-called Finance Bill may well become the next biggest financial scandal of Kenya! Choose your leaders wisely!
i really had no idea of the scale of corruption in kenya.
Kwame Owino's voice going an octave higher when he says "parliament just accepted it."
Bwana the suspense will kill me, just drop it, no need for the cliff hangers hehe
I really like this guys work.
I'm late but never absent for this
What!? Mimi hii story inanikasirisha, nimejam btw.. kumbe it was even worse than we thought.. si ati ata hizo loans zilikua zimepangiwa, they just cooked them then stole and no one said a thing. Alafu sasa we are the ones paying. It's too much bwana!
I am waiting,
Kosa ilianza 2013 then we doubled down in 2017 and further tripled down in 2022. We really elect our best and brightest
Ruto and Arror and Kimwarer, Are the same thing.
🤣🤣🤣🤣kimani ichungwa you apologize to the country for selling us but you are still selling the country
Heist 101. Key word Clean or Audit Debt register! What were the payouts the leaders were defending?
Here we Are
Here we are
Part 4
Painful memories 😢of false slowing down on infrastructure projects.Only to continue making financial commitments&signing obscured contracts.
Raising of the debt ceiling based on simplified thinking, not based on basic debt management especially based on Kenyas actual revenue.
When I recall the hue&cry of parading then CS Rotich& senior employees in the Treasury to the docks, then collapse of the case..its beyond comprehension WHY our govt prefers to bleed us dry.
This current government from 2022-2024 has borrowed in excess of 3.6 trillion shillings for 2027 campaigns
Will we wait for other future scandalous dealings revealed in episodes like this and make it norm???
Kenyan politicians never want to be asked such questions
Ichungwa should give us a break. They were the ones bickering and championing for the illicit debts.
John ,please 10 days is a long time to wait ,change it
Kimani Ichungwa has blood on his hands. Either he is complicit or in fear of mentioning his friends.
In the words of Finland scholarship's scam victims, " he is being mean with the truth".
So Who Are The Culprits...Do you have any court papers on the arrested?
2weeks zishapita episode ingine haijadrop!!?😢
Part 4???
2024 is here and it's burning
John Allan Namu this suspense is killing me and the video it’s too short! C’mon mate🙈
These episodes are too short n leave us with many questions
When is the next one being released?
Two weeks from today Joe
Jan 29, 2024. Ruto is in Italy.
9 more years to go with jubilee 4. 😢
Barnabas is in charge now. Wacha Kanuke.
Same people now taxing diapers to repay this mess.
The next part just like the first and second will have nothing in continuity or telling us what really happened and where the moneys went. Just the story we all know with good sound effects
Moi and his cronies Biwott amongst others bled the country dry and yet we still celebrated them, even when they died superlatives were used to eulogise them, little wonder Uhuru, Raila and Ruto have no qualms ripping off the mwananchi, after all mta do? They know you will do sweet phuck all!
pesa ilisanywa yote
Our representa-thieves Uncensored , Insatiable greed
😅😅..I love that zinger!
The real debt ya kenya is 380 trillion shillings and intrest is 60 trillion shillings in dollars denomination. Kenyans lipa next 700 years
Is it just me or does this smell like a campaign against Uhuru by the Ruto regime?
Waiting
Waendele kuiba hakuna kitu watafanywa
Kimani Ichungwa is a LIAR.
In my opinion, there's not much you've uncovered in this part 3. Only the original agreement was a PPP which shifted to the government financing the project.
Questions we need answers to:
1. Who was behind the switch from a PPP to government financing the project?
2. Provide descriptive details about the Italian firm that won the contract, and why there wasn't a second bidding when the contract shifted from a PPP to a government financed project?
3. At 11.33 the former auditor speaks of a completely different company to the one that was awarded the tender. How is a different company awarded a contract from the one that won the tender?
4. What was the role of the insurance money paid out?
5. What is the co-relation between the raising of the debt ceiling and this dam scandal? You need to establish without reasonable doubt that these two events are related.
Thanks for the feedback. The goal was to establish that this was the fundamental flaw in the deal. As stated at the end, we go further into the deal in part 4
Punda amechoka
Nothing New in this Documentary. No FACTS, Nothing.
After the release of these episodes and the truths there in,then what??????????
Money lost but all your crazy investigation it's still not clear who is responsible for the lost what a waste of time 😒😒
Who is responsible is important. Why and how money is lost is just as important. We have had multiple thefts across our history but the public are hardly made to understand how or why things happen. With that information you can change a system. Who allows you to remove one person whereas a system stays intact. Thanks for watching though.
John, this is incredibly disappointing. When you resort to dividing the story into brief episodes to build suspense, it becomes evident that something is amiss. Have the courage to uncover the truth behind the billions that have burdened our country with debt. Don't leave us hanging with a convoluted chase; either reveal the identity of those responsible for stealing the funds or keep it to yourself. We need transparency, not mere suspense.
Sorry that you find the pieces disappointing. We thought to break things down so that the public who Watch understand the genesis of our debt but by bit. Also, one of the goals of the piece is to explain how things have happened, not just who is behind everything. People come and go, systems need to be understood to be changed.
