- In Episode 193 of Mike Finnegan's Garage we take a good, hard look at the current condition of Blasphemi, my Hemi-powered 1955 Chevy Bel Air and make a plan to bring it back to life, better than ever. But before we can move forward with the fixes, we first must remember where we came from so here's the full story on how the car came to be and why I need to revamp the car I've owned the longest. Thanks for watching!
If you'd like to help support this build and all the bad ideas I have for it, please visit my website and score yourself some sweet clothing and stickers. I have new shirts, hats, hoodies and stickers available at www.fsmgarage.com

i agree with the sentiment of "just flat black with the gold roof and blasphemi" but i feel like that 2019 drag week champ should be *somewhere* on the car
That and maybe the Finnegans Garage logo too..
I remember how happy he was with just the body on ROADKILL
One of the best roadkill moments was when Finnegan just sat down on the ground and saw blasphemi for the first time on the Jim Meyers Racing Chassis
@@WyoCutlass71 Yes it was.
When MotorTrend was available outside U.S. And you told how many times your family watched when Blasphemi won Drag Week. I showed my wife and teenage daughter. They had there doubts and prepared to be bored. But by the time Tony Bench Pressed that gear box We were all cheering. My family Loved that episode. We love Blasphemi, And we Look forward to what you do next.
Not only is this one of my favorite cars, it's also got one of my favorite stories. Looking forward to seeing it again
That week of drag week with Tony was my favorite Roadkill episode.
One of the best ones they ever did. I remember the emotional roller coaster the whole time. Jumping out of the chair when he locked in the win.
Glad your taking the 55 back to the street, missed seeing it!!! Probably the coolest car you've ever built in my opinion 😉
Shop truck way better
Its the only car ranger pubes has built
I know it’s been a joint effort, but the Rotsun frickin rules too!
@@saywhyt I second that. Damn keen to see the caddy finished. It will quite possibly be cooler than blasphemi.

You should always be rocking it the way you like it best. My step-father took me to school a couple of times in his '32 Chevy Coupe and his '68 Corvette a couple times when I was in high school. Was awesome and I'll never forget memories like that. Neither will your kids. Those memories will be burned into their brain for their entire lives. Memories are what life is all about. Car will look good, sound good, and ride even better. Sounds like you have a plan, time to execute. 🙂
Isn’t that what it’s all about? Build what makes you smile every time you drive it or even look at it! Building an 86 RamCharger for just reason myself.
Can't wait for the mighty Blasphemi to go back to its old school street gasser origins which is why I fell in love with it !!!! Thank you for sharing and please keep em coming. everyone keep yourselves and love ones safe and healthy.
Bestist Grown up car Chanel ever. Thanks for the smiles.
Every time I build a car that ends up being a limited use car, I love the heck out of it-for a little while. Then it ends up parked. Soon I look at it and wish I had not gone so overboard and had built one that was fun and comfortable to drive upon virtually any occasion. I'm glad to see Blasphemi being returned to something more "usable".
I’ve never been so sad and happy at the same time. I love the story that made blasphemi what it is so I’m gonna miss it but also love that you are making it what you wanted before and still want now.
Happy to see the less busy paint come back.
Glad to hear it! All of it! Can't wait to see it all flat black again(except the gold roof). That car looked so great before the blower, and the pie crust slick days!
We all love that one friend that has the garage full of fun toys and two years of "To Do's" I look forward to the C/10 my self as I have a 1968 and yours completely changed some of my ideas.
Rad that you are doing what you want man. This should be your vision, and the old car is always available on video for those who miss it.
Great choice.
Sometimes the snowball runs away with us and you don't see how big it is until it stops. It's your ride, it should be what you want!
Your 55 and the plans you are making sound awesome. The draw of 2 Lane Blacktop is a strong one. Driving cross country and drag racing a 1955 Chevy gasser. Good jam, Damn good jam.
This reminds me so much of my son and I. We spend hours in the garage talking, measuring, dreaming and trying to figure out how to get his car perfect. Lots of trial and error, but we just about have it figured out now. The car is definitely an engineered masterpiece. Everything looks right, and fits right. When we get this one done, we'll buy another project.
Exciting times! Nothing like making your favourite toy your favourite again.
Awhile back I saw a picture of blasphemi before it was a wheelie popping monster, and it had a kid seat in the passenger side. And I thought that was GOALS right there. Glad its going back to more of a street car. Things a MONSTER.
One of my favourite cars on the internet. I was watching a lot of MTOD when this car was created. I think what I liked about it was it was properly put together, rather than the 'throw it together during the show' type thing that Roadkill was doing. Then we got to see the car developed over time. Really a great story.
Love it, put it back on the street where no matter what you can be happy with it and have fun
Cheers, great to hear. Blasphemi doing drag week and you being happy.
It's amazing. Mike has a 55.
Reminds me of Michael Wayne Cotten.
Cool to see you and Freiburger taking your cars back to their root ideas, you with Blasphemi and Freiburger with General Mayhem.
I'm right into it. Anytime a 55 is built for more miles to be put on, I'm in full support.

Great idea, and it's nice to see your being human, humble, and listening to your subscribers lol
It is easy to let a project evolve into something you did not intend it to be, it is cool to see that you are going back and making it how you want. it sucks to have a car you love but hate what it has become. Make it yours again!
I loved hearing more about BLASHEMI! Great episode!! Awesome car and I'm glad its coming back to its street form.

From a guy with a lot more grey than you..sometimes with cars wash, rinse, repeat gets you to the point where you are at with Blasohemi..I hope you can find that joy again that makes us car guys..
Im glad to see Blasphemi getting some love again.(Has it already beed 8 years!) I remember when you first picked up the car. Lots of memories! From welding up your first set of headers with your feet, to putting your beard on the line for a race... LOL .. Love that car!
I took an extra week of vacation and traveled to Vegas just to see that car go down the drag strip. That thing is really freaking cool 😎
Back in the early '80s we used to watch TLB late in the afternoon and then go cruising until the early morning hours. Any car that showed up downtown in black primer would be ridiculed by most, but we would just smile and nod.
I had a sinking feeling when you said something like, "I just don't like it anymore." But as you explained further it all made sense. Good luck with it! I DO love that car!
I think dialing Blasphemi back a bit is a great idea! A true street/strip ride would be more useable, for sure. Looking forward to the build, y'all!✌️❤️🙂🇨🇦
P.S.; for some reason, I put my Blasphemi shirt on today! It was meant to be!😂

Yeah, I did already.
Christopher- you're NAILING IT!
I'm glad your changing it back. Shes all labeled up like Ricky Bobby. Shes gonna look good cleaned up and not so flashy
Thanks for Sharing... Glad you are going the Direction that makes you Happy... No Point Otherwise.
Great to see you getting the car back on the road again.. 👍
Finnegan : "I don't like the car."
Me: what?!?!
Finnegan : "I will fix it to my liking"
Me: Dude, don't scare me like that.
Same lol I thought he didn't liked the car anymore and had me thinking about what he and blasphemi had been to.
Same here, but I was thinking that he will sell it or he will put LS engine 😁😁😁
Dude! I know I almost had a heart attack- fucking cliff hanger!
YES!!
Can’t wait to see you tearin’ it up in Blasphemi again.
Watching your drag week adventure helped get me back into drag racing after 20+ years away and now I’m building a single turbo small block powered squarebody
Small block!?Haven't you heard that the LS is the ONLY way to go?Jeesh, must be living in the 90's or something....And yeah I'm being sarcastic,LS are great but theres NOTHING wrong with a SBC.I've got a roller cam 5.7 going into my 85 C10,no turbo. Not yet anyway.
@@burtbacarach5034
SBCs powered us for over 50 years. There's no reason why they're no good anymore. It's no big bad hemi but that's ok. I'm building up an sbc for a ramp truck meself 👍😁

Man you blow me away the success you've made .I'm in new Zealand 52 mechanic by trade and classic car lover .just respect you man .
It’s mental to think I’ve been watching roadkill long enough to remember the episode where you buy it coming out, amazing car mate can’t wait to see it redone
Chrome wheels, fuel injected and steppin out over that line...
You're living your Rock & Roll best life Mike.
Gotta be in love with a car to really enjoy ownership, I agree.
Mike regains control of what the car is to be and he'll remember why he did it to begin with - and
that's a beautiful thing.
Mike it's great to see you back working on Blasphemi again , it's my favorite of all your cars .
Makes me happy to see the drama causing 55 is coming back to the street.
I know what you mean about 2 lane Black Top, I have been there when you said I just don't like the car no more, to many modifications. Then you said I just want to drive it again, brother we are on the same page! Keep up the great way of life and be safe, digging you from all the way from the Philippines 🇵🇭 😊, retired old white guy 👦
Glad you're taking the best action you can to return the car to the track, in YOUR way. Love it that you came to that decision.
Love this car. Its been a big inspiration and one of my favourite cars. Amped for its return to glory💪💪💪💪
SO STOKED TO SEE BLASPHEMI BACK ON THE ROAD!!
Really like the look of the car now, will probably miss that, but glad you are planning to drive it more!
Cannot wait to see it back up and running!
Hey Mike, Speaking about that wood floor..... look at the end of the boards and look at the grain of the wood, you want "frowns down" , picture an umbrella, upside down umbrellas hold water. If the grain is smiling at you it will hold water & twist. I learned that building decks.......
So glad to see Blasphemi coming back. One of my all time favorite cars.
It is amazing to see the evolution of that car...from just your idea to what a piece of rolling art it has become. What a great journey we have all had with you! Thanks...and I hope your regain the joy in it that you had in the beginning...watching you be so excited about it was exciting for us! A lot of fun! :)
Thank you Mike for keeping this car alive. You have some great ideas for it. I hope you will also find time to do some work on the '61 Cadillac project soon. We can't wait!
Your most epic car is being reborn. Doesn't get any better than that.
I understand what you’re saying about Blasphemi 100%. I got so obsessed with trying to make one of my cars faster than a bunch of other cars that it just became something that bummed me out when I needed to do work to it or buy parts for it. Now I just want to build it to where I can drive it around and just enjoy it.
‘BlaspHEMI’!!! What an awesome concept!
Nice to get back to your roots. I’ll love that car no matter what you do with it
Two Lane Blacktop! Watched it many years ago and haven't been able to find it since to rent!!! Movie of few words but, cars and hippie times of the early 70's ⏳
Glad you’re listening to yourself and putting the car
Back on the streets.
After 15-20 years I had made the same mistake , in the process of building a true pro touring car and enjoy everything I can .
Can’t wait to see how it turns out!!!
Congrats 🙏🏽😎

Glad the car is coming back. I missed seeing it, Cant wait to see the new Hemi
I would love to see it more like the Two Lane Black Top car!
Sometimes it can feel like the end of a long journey with a vehicle, they can end up so far from what we know them to be, motivation to bring them back is hard to come by. just going through a rewire and repower myself, hopefully the car is rejuvenated 🙏

It would be very cool to see Blasphemi run heads-up on the strip against Freiburger's F-Rod - two very different cars with similar performance.
Glad to see it back on the road
In the 80s in college, I had a 71 Mustang convertible with N50-14s in the back, and to turn them with the 250 straight six, 3-speed, Clifford headers, dual exhaust with GLASSPACKS, and NOS, I put 4.11s in the rear. I drove that several hundred miles each way to home on many weekends. Imagine the howl you heard AND with the top down at 70.
I tracked down a "Toploader OD" from an LTD II or something similar. It had a Toploader iron case with a bumpout for a 0.8(?) OD 4th. 1-3 were the same granny gears as the 3-speed originally in the car.
DAMN did that make a difference!
Well, the other reason I put that OD Toploader in was that launching on the 3-speed with sticky N50-14s and NOS blew the trans tailshaft housing into multiple pieces...
Look forward to seeing the next stage!
It’s yours make yourself happy. Can’t wait to see it.
Oh God, I've always LOVED Blasphemi...even when you cracked a sleeve...which happens to the best of us.
This car got me into American muscle. So glad Finnegan is getting back into it!
Kevin Smith (KSR) has the best quote when he was droning over Soccer Mom...."its a race car, and they break". You took a Tri-5 Chevy (55) wanted a Gasser for Cursing...then went monster 8Sec dragster.... Tri-5 Gassers are just cool...
After the intro I realize I’m old and I’m an og… thanks a lot. Love you dude and the channel so hell yeah blashphemi ftw!
Excited y’all are getting it going again!!!
Had to Google what a “Daisy wheel” is. Every area has different names for the same thing. We called those wheels “flower mags”. My brother had a set on his lowered black 1972 Monte Carlo.
I love that rendition of the car
I want the James Taylor lookalike No decals old school. Jim Meyer is a legend in the NW great company. It was your dream and mine two. Now do it. Go incognito with Og scheme. Thanks for sharing I appreciate it on your week off.
I count myself lucky as I have sat in that car at Hotrod week in NC and even got a picture taken with Mike.. Best day ever...
Happy day. Glad to see you putting life back into the Tri 5
It’s about time the OG comes back with a vengeance!!
Its great that you are going to make it what you want. I have a 440 first gen Charger that I need to quit procrastinating and make it right. Keep up the good videos.
Hello Finnegan and David looking forward to seeing how the 55 looks after the new paint job. Wishing everyone there well Take Care Guys
Ngl, I forgot about blasphemi. Awesome to see it back and can’t wait to see it rip at the track
Really excited to see you getting this car back where you want it. At some point it stopped being the car you want and it's great to dial it back in. In fairness this is also how I ended up with a 1/2 dozen cars because I decided I needed a car to do something and refused to use one of my existing cars..
All these years I never new blasphemi was bought in my hometown! Effing wild lol glad you got out of hemet without getting robbed
Good move...digging the rework of this car...good luck
Going to be good to see that car back out! Now challenge Freiberger to Dragweek with his 56
Glad to hear your getting back to it!!!, Ready to see the CADDY too!
Love this car Probably my favorite 55
Wether it’s a sidewinder or a worm drive saw, it should always kick back at you. Reverse rotation is what keeps the table of the saw tight to the wood. The cause for the saw jumping back at you is the blade being pinched due to your left hand holding the cutoff. Sometimes it’s better just to let it fall. That’s just my 2 cents
Absolutely love this car!! Can’t wait to see your results. Keep up the amazing work
Great to see you being true to yourself in making the car to be what you want it to be. I like the direction you're taking it down!
Good for you Mike!!
Between watching my dad get his old firebreather up and running to seeing this car come back I’m excited.
We definitely can't wait to se the new ride.
At rhe end of the day bud it's your car and if your not in love with it the way it is then it's time for a change ! Do whatever you feel is best snd we will support you!
This is hands down my favorite build. Glad to see it come back.
