Printing on fabric might sound like something only pro's can do! Forget about the myths, custom fabric printing is super easy to achieve in the comfort of your own home! theseamanmom.com/how-to-print...
Tip: It would be helpful if you iron the cloth to remove wrinkles and place the paper (with double sided tape already on it) on top of it. In this way you won't have to fight to remove wrinkles after sticking the both.
Place wrong side of fabric to shiny side of freezer paper. Press to adhere fabric to freezer paper. The shiny side gets tacky with the heat and secures the fabric. Trim to appropriate size and send through printer.
I use Terial Magic spray which stiffens the fabric enough to go through the printer on its own. I've used this method to print photos and my kids drawings, etc, onto fabric on my inkjet, to add to memory comforters. You can either wash the stiffness out or just leave it in as it goes softer after a while when handled.
9/23/21: Instead of going through all of this, I just spray some Sulky temporary adhesive on an 8-1/2 x 11 sheet of paper and stick it down onto some muslin material, which I've ironed before the fact. Cut away any excess, choose a font on your computer and type what's needed. Add a heart, smiley face or whatever and place in your printer, material side down, and print it out. Giving it the room it needs for folding, I get approximately 9-12 labels to a sheet and it works great! You can't go wrong if you do it right with your printer and you can get majorly creative with it. Just sharing.
Thank you so much for this video. I didn't have packing tape but I had some half inch double sided tape. I put it round the edges and three strips in the centre. So far I have used that "taped paper" three times with PERFECT results. For someone who doesn't have a lot of money your video was a life saver. Thank you again (Australia) 😊
can you tell me what sealer to use on top to keep it from smearing, I printed some on my laser printer , and as soon as I barely touched it, the black ink smeared onto the 100% cotton fabric :(
Yes, inkjet is perfect, set it to highest quality, and although it lasts well in the wash, it will fade in time, but even manufacturers labels do that.
@@kousara_2005 It depends on the quality of ink. Mine didn't disappear but it's washable. If you plan on washing the fabric, you need to use waterproof ink. I mention these details in the written tutorial in my website, linked in the description.
This tutorial is made for those who don't have freezer paper available. It may seem like such an ordinary kitchen item that one would find easily in any store but freezer paper is not available worldwide, sadly.
Any inkjet printer is fine, and taping the fabric to a larger sheet of paper works just as well. Spraying with starch also works well, but not always. I use Terial Magic which is fantastic.
I just tested on my ink jet, used soap and water and yes most of the ink ran off. You can still see the image but all the vibrant colors are gone. I'm going to test with scotch guard and see what happens.

Thanks for the tip, Teddy! Guess I'm not as smart as you :) Just don't forget when putting down the fabric first, lots of air pockets form and you don't want that for this project. Btw I tried this method first ;), total failure for me
Okay so...fabric is more viscous than a piece of paper. You lay the more viscous item down, and then place the piece of paper upon it. No wrinkles. God this annoyed me so much her fighting with the paper/fabric.

That is a good idea, thanks for the tip, Hamid!
Is that printer different from the normal one
I use freeze paper to back the fabric much easier and timingsaving. Plus freezer paper is reusable too.
Freezer paper is not available everywhere around the world. I'm showing this method for people who are not able to find freezer paper.
Do you just stack the freezer paper and the fabric or do you somehow glue or tape it
Place wrong side of fabric to shiny side of freezer paper. Press to adhere fabric to freezer paper. The shiny side gets tacky with the heat and secures the fabric. Trim to appropriate size and send through printer.
More economic also, I have freezer paper I have use 3 to 4 times.
Thank you for not holding us hostage and getting to the idea, much appreciated

My thoughts exactly!
Does it not wash out using an ink jet I'm a complete beginner

tysm! I also use an A4 sticky paper
Repositionable spray mount works just as well if not better!
Anybody else get anxious watching this?
It upsets me greatly rhat they're using their rotary blade on paper.
Absolutely, dulls the blade super quick..
I agree 100% with Dawn I use freezer paper much easier no fuss and reusable 👍👍❤️
Thank you so much! Your a bloody legend!
This is a game changer, thank you so much!!

Hi, Sandra! Thanks so much for letting me know about your success using my method!
I should try this, thank you!
Thank-you so MUCH!!! ❤️
But on washing the print will fade or get removed, can u guide how the same will be permanent....
what is this fabric? I love it.
Seems that the sticky fabric spray for temporary holds when sewing would work much easier.
that's a great idea
Which printer should be used for printing on fabric ?
can you tell me what sealer to use on top to keep it from smearing, I printed some on my laser printer , and as soon as I barely touched it, the black ink smeared onto the 100% cotton fabric :(
Does it work with inkjet and would it last in the wash?
Yes, inkjet is perfect, set it to highest quality, and although it lasts well in the wash, it will fade in time, but even manufacturers labels do that.
Do you need a certain kind of printer or ink? Will it be washable? Thanks!
Christy, all the details are in the written article.
Holy carp thanks girl!
Can I listen to any music I want while I do this, or will it work with other music?
Love this !,
I tried it with elevator music but it turned out wrong on so many levels ..
nice, thanks!
What is the best fabric and printer please?
What’s the roller scissor u used
Can you print in colour on these?
Next time put the fabric down with painters tape so it’s steady- and then lay the layer ofadhesive paper on top of it and smooth it out
Thanks for the tip, Chloe!
It is much easier using large-sized labels (A4 labels are available).
I bet that would work on somestiff Crosstitch fabric like Aida
Ever tried rolling the fabric in a little snake before trying to place it on the paper?
what fabric type do you use? Cotton, polyester?
It was cotton.
does it wash off?
Would it work on a laser printer? Or only on a inkjet printer?
Only ink jet
Will soap remove the ink from the fabric?
if you are using the normal paper ink, then yes i tried it today and it faded away within seconds
@@kousara_2005 It depends on the quality of ink. Mine didn't disappear but it's washable. If you plan on washing the fabric, you need to use waterproof ink. I mention these details in the written tutorial in my website, linked in the description.
does this work with one sided tape and t shirt fabric
I've only tried this method with cotton fabric
OMG NO YOUR STRETCHING THAT FABRIC LIKE CRAZY
Use freezer paper. It irons on and adheres to the fabric and comes off easily.
This tutorial is made for those who don't have freezer paper available. It may seem like such an ordinary kitchen item that one would find easily in any store but freezer paper is not available worldwide, sadly.
Did you have to reverse your image so the words came out legible?
I didn't as this method is just like printing on paper.
is this a normal printer or a special fabric printer...?
Any inkjet printer is fine, and taping the fabric to a larger sheet of paper works just as well. Spraying with starch also works well, but not always. I use Terial Magic which is fantastic.
Is this washable? I mean, will the ink bleed out with water?
I just tested on my ink jet, used soap and water and yes most of the ink ran off. You can still see the image but all the vibrant colors are gone. I'm going to test with scotch guard and see what happens.
The Sketchy Pumpkin I heard and have seen videos of retayne working well
Crystal Frieson I’ve seen videos of Retayne working well
@@thesketchypumpkin We would love to hear the results of the scotchgard
this works quite well but if you are using the normal paper ink, its gonna wash off
Yes, I mention all these details and more in my written tutorial on my website linked in description.
roll the fabric in a.. let's say a rolling pin first to easily apply it to the paper
Is it applicable on thick fabrics?
Thicker fabric should work too, as long as it fits inside a printer
Will the print stay on if we try to watch it?
If anybody had tried this please reply!!
Hi there. You have all the information on ink and printer on the site, link in description. Thanks!
Or u could just Answer
@@chloeriver9 except dozens upon dozens of people ask the same set of questions. It's not like it's rude to direct the person to the answers they are looking for.
I can't believe that worked! Is that an inkjet or laser printer?
Ink jet with water resistant ink. Laser jet will fade or wash easily.
@@EasyPeasyCreativeIdeas thank you, only have a laser. I think I have another plan.
Is this washable?
Yes but you need to use waterproof ink.
Wao wao wao wao wao
Is it washable?
It depends on the ink used
Dear lord the fab application was painful to watch. Lay the fab down first, then the paper

I’m lazy! l can’t imagine doing this video tutorial to print on fabric
It's actually faster than you think but I get you :)
I’m just teasing actually.... I’m used to traditional silkscreen printing😋
I really enjoyed that video
Next time save the hassle & iron your fabric to waxed paper :)
Same Printer lol
Cool!

You have beautiful hands.
That looks like so much work and time....
Good video. Loose the annoying audio.
Doesn't seem so easy
Practice what you have an idea for and then do a video ..try that!!!!
