- Former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela is this morning appearing before the parliamentary inquiry into the fitness of her successor, Busisiwe Mkhwebane, to hold office. The committee had initially decided that Madonsela would no longer be required to give oral evidence. Mkhwebane's legal representative Dali Mpofu had threatened to take the committee to court over that decision.

Why does Dali behave as if Thuli faces impeachment and not his own client??
It beggars belief to observe this charade which allows Mpofu to carry on with the sole purpose of prolonging the proceedings rather than demonstrating the innocence of his client. It makes a mockery of parliament and legal processes. One would have thought the chairperson should move things along.

It's so obvious: DM's approach with anyone and everyone in opposition to him is intentionally to litter his interactions with incendiary barbs, accusatory innuendos , subtle threats and teenage sarcasm. His MO is to follow this strategy and continue to bait persons to get them to react emotionally (instead of respond). I think he has a fair legal mind but his character is his biggest weakness and it's sad (in fact laughable) that he himself doesn't see how his own tactics discredit him and prejudice his client . Does he really think that people don't see what he's trying to do? TM is maintaining her dignity and composure. Interesting to watch indeed.

She's Brillant when it comes to South African Law. She currently holds a chair in social justice at Stellenbosch University and has been there since 2018. She was also South Africa's Public Protector from 19 October 2009 to 14 October 2016. Other organizations are Constantly asking for Professor Madonsela's legal Opinion. I have seen NONE asking the same from Busisiwe Mkhwebane.

Thuli explained all the docs signed, cosigned and even the electronic versions, but Dali had his own narratives which is black paint the former PP. Besides, this enquiry is not about Thuli. Thuli never made Busi get this impeachment exercise. Dali has spent the whole day trying to box a wrong person who finished her term long time ago and who is at peace with her departure from that hhovice. This is indeed a dollar spinner for the Dali team.

At what point does it become clear to everyone that the chairperson is no longer impartial & can no longer be trusted to adjudicate this case without prejudice. I know nothing of law but every time I watch this I'm struck by his excesses directed at Mpofu. Mpofu has his weaknesses & I'm not here to defend him, but these processes/proceedings can't be reduced to processes for rubberstamping executive decisions so long as their are in line with the interests of the incumbent.
