  • Enjoy a hike up the Canyon of the North Fork Tuolumne River. There’s outstanding mountain & river scenery. Wildflowers abound in the spring. The trail follows a narrow gauge lumber railroad grade. Cross-ties & steel rails remain along the right-of-way. The interesting history of the railroad is highlighted in plaques along the trail. Nature & history combine to create a terrific day-hike.

You're welcome. There are many rails to trails in California which make great hiking opportunities.

Looks like stinging nettle around that little stream there at 1:22, but I wasn't even aware that nettle grew on the west coast.

I remember being attacked by a whole lot of ladybugs

Another place where we found a swarm of ladybugs was at the end of Jenkinson Lake in Sly Park (Pollack Pines, Hwy 50).

@@hikingthegoldenstate6142 convergent ladybird beetles spend winter in the Sierra foothills. They crawl into the fissures of the pine bark.
