    I started with the R3 and now ride the MT-07. It's a perfect fit for my riding skills and motorcycle expectations.

      That's a great progression, and the MT-07 really fills that modern UJM kind of ideal, they are such a great machine.

      I started with a bicycle and now I ride the MT-07. Great first bike for me!

  • @Marco-cl9pb

    I'm 1.81m and I would only change to a slighty wider handlebar
    Well also a comfier seat but there's a lot worse bikes in that department
    Btw I started on a MT03 and that one is even more confident inducing for a new rider, also a better learner bike

    • @MotoJournoKris
      @MotoJournoKris  Před 3 lety +1

      Definitely, the MT-03 is a great place to start, it's such a light and easy to handle machine.

    Priced way too high by Yamaha. They're asking almost MT09 money for these which is crazy if you think of it. Suzuki's SV650 makes way more sense in the larger LAMS twins. Or, for something really cool, an Interceptor 650 that'll appeal to a broader audience ( LAMS and unrestricted riders) when you want to sell and try something different.

    • @MotoJournoKris
      @MotoJournoKris  Před 3 lety +3

      Honestly I think that's more of a reflection of how good the MT-07 is, alongside how good value the MT-09 is. Although the MT-09 is almost $2500 more which is a fairly decent chunk of cash, the price on the MT-07 has crept up since they were launched in 2014, alongside the improvements they've made.
      It would be nice to see them at the same price as the SV of course, as that 10k figure is a nice round out the door price, but from the last time I tested the SV (restricted version, back at the relaunch) and the SV650X, I'd have said the price difference was justified, rather than Yamaha charging a premium. That said if you really love a V-twin, I can see that being the massive draw card with those models, especially in light of there not being many options in that arena now, which is fair enough.

    Good bikes, but I prefer the XSR700, at least to look at. I think it's a 689 cc everywhere other than Australia, Kris.

    • @MotoJournoKris
      @MotoJournoKris  Před 3 lety +2

      It'd be a hard choice for me between the two as well, the XSR700 is a great machine. And you are indeed right, only we get the reduced capacity version, they have to settle for a 35kW 689cc in other markets with restrictions.

      You can use a mt-07 which was my first bike. İ was very comfortable. Now im riding the mt-09, a lil bit better but both are quite nice. Dont worry just hop on it if it feels nice buy it. İ heard people say who are 1,88 and arent comfortable. İt really just depends i think. As for me it is perfect

    • @MotoJournoKris
      @MotoJournoKris  Před 2 lety

      As Çağatay said, give the MT-07 a try, there should be a restricted version available, and if you don't find it a good fit, check out the other restricted options that A2 riders can ride. Something with a taller seat height may be the go if you find some too small, as that normally means a more generous seat to peg ratio. Nakedbikes will generally be roomier than supersports, but the more aggressive and compact seating position of the supersports is part of the package.

    Why you never put both legs on ground? Your height? Height needed for driver to put both legs on ground?

    • @MotoJournoKris
      @MotoJournoKris  Před 3 lety +1

      Sorry I normally try and included that. It's very easy for me to get both feet down flat. I'm 180 cm and 32 inch inseam, and the seat height is only 805 mm, even on wider machines with taller seat heights, like at 830 mm I can normally get both feet flat.

  • @Jojiku9
    @Jojiku9 Před 3 lety +1

    Hey. I'm interested in buying the MT-07 but the only thing im worried about is the height. Im 1.85 cm (6ft1 i think). Is there anyone the same height who has ridden this bike? How does it feel 1.80? Do you think that 5 cm will make a difference? thanks!~

    • @MotoJournoKris
      @MotoJournoKris  Před 3 lety +1

      At 180 cm I find it a really good fit, although I'm on the leggier side. It's still a relatively compact and sporty machine, but without feeling cramped or tiny to me. Your proportions (torso to leg ratio) is probably going to be the biggest factor there, rather than just the extra height, but maybe someone else the same height as you can chime in!

    • @Jojiku9

      @@Jojiku9 Might be worth checking if Spite over at Yammienoob has done a video on the MT-07/FZ-07, as he's a bigger guy and might be able to give some insight into the bike from that perspective. Can't remember if there's a video off the top of my head though.

    • @MotoJournoKris
      @MotoJournoKris  Před 2 lety +1

      Definitely worth checking one out in person. Inseam length is probably better for gauging whether the seat and seat-to-peg ratio will fit. Reach to the bars tends to be a little less constricting.
