    I have had my mt07 since 2018. I used go think to upgrade to something else because its not a supersport. But after riding my friends supersports(Ducati, Daytona, r6), I love my mt07 even more now. Its so comfy and its the all round good machine to have fun with. If I could change 1 thing that comes stock, I would change the exhaust system and the rear suspension. Because the rear suspension is really bumpy on 2018 prior models.

    In any car, I take the highway, on my drz, I take the surface streets due to it being not fun over 70mph for too long. I got a 2021 MT07 and figured I would take the highway with that. I have, it does 80-85 all day easy. But it is soo much fun in the city. I take surface streets on both bikes now. Torque and wheelies are a blast to play with.

    I just bought the 2021 MT-07 and I am very much enjoying it. It is fun, quick, and nimble. The seat is garbage and I can't find tank grips to match for assistance with my knees to hold on. Being a bigger guy 250 lbs., it can still handle my weight locally. This bike has the best money to CC ratio in my option. I wish I could get mods for it unfortunately the waiting list is stupid (some 6 months plus). I have a tuner that is going to play with it in a week or two, so we will see if we can get some more torque out of it since I won't need the top end. The wind hits me like a ping-pong ball around the road. I think I might upgrade the brakes possibility. Feels kind of soft in my option. I live in the Orlando/Melbourne FL area. Overall I am pleased with my purchase, but dang it if there is an update to the MT-10 in 2022. Hmm, I may have to sell a kidney.

Having to reposition your hand mid-throttle or bringing your arm below the bar is just really inconvenient and uncomfortable. It's a very cheap upgrade (I think it was around $8) and makes a really great quality of life upgrade.

  • @stevebaker7937
    @stevebaker7937 Před rokem +1

    Excellent and fair review. I ride mine mostly in rural areas with country roads and highways. The suspension is the weak link. I spent a bit over a grand on mine and it's a much more enjoyable ride at all speeds. It doesn't have enough power or the aerodynamics to stay up with an modern inline 4 600 above 100 mph. However it's quick enough in the quarter mile to beat most stock muscle cars of the 60's. The engine was unique in it's design. Now it's the target for Honda, Suzuki and KTM. Especially in the flat track racing. I'm an old geezer, not a racer or a stunt rider. I wanted a bike that was fun to ride and low maintenance. Lots of bikes could fit that role. I want something that suits my needs. I'm an experienced rider but it had been almost 15 years since I rode. I have almost 26k on my 2015 FZ07, it's ready for it's first valve adjustment. It runs just fine. 26 k on the original spark plugs. Much cheaper to insure because it doesn't have all that plastic. It's got a solid resale market as well, it has been one of the best selling motorcycles (pre covid) since 2014. Lots of parts are available and will remain that way for a long time. It's quick enough to get you in trouble but not fast enough to hang with the sport bikes that cruise at 140 mph.

    Because the stability on fast roads was so bad with the MT07, and I loved the engine so much, after my bike was stolen, I got a Tracer 700. Most of the playfulness disappeared. But, overtaking trucks in crosswinds wasn't utterly terrifying. The MT07 isn't a 50/50 balanced bike; it's also very light which, in town, is fabulous. On bad days on motorways, however, it's a nightmare. Once, with very strong winds, I could only do 30mph to keep control of the bike. Being overtaken by everything still makes me wake up screaming at night. It's a great bike with serious limitations.

    I am traveling to and from work every day with MT07, city driving often requires stopping and waiting at traffic lights and intersections. One bad thing I noticed in a year of riding this motorcycle around town is the heating of the machine, the fan on the cooler turns on after 100 degrees Celsius and while I wait for the green light it heats up a lot which is not pleasant in summer. What I’ve seen many do is reprograming the ecu to get the fan on at 90 degrees. I think the factory should have been set up that way already. What I'm not happy about yet is that the engine in city driving runs at such a high temperature (100 ° C +)

Considering you won't be going fast and depending where you live the roads could be utter shit like in downtown Atlanta. In my opinion the MT07 is the perfect bike for the cost. A few mods such as windscreen takes care of the highway wind issues. Then the obvious mods like fender eliminator and maybe a up and down quick shifter. Chase you said at the beginning of the video that Yamaha has lent you the bike for "quite a while" later you said you haven't had it long enough to get used to the throttle to get comfortable with it. I argue that with your extensive riding experience you would get used to the throttle fairly quick. I would like to see someone who has never ridden the MT-07 ride it for the first time an then judge the throttle.

    OC: The mt07s a perfect city bike which is what makes it so bad at twities and fun spirited riding so the z650 and mt07 are great in city, not so god in the twisties where as the gsxs 750, cb650r, tuono660 are much better at twisties but slightly compromise in the city with a stiffer but rewarding setup

    OC: Just a little word from a bloody beginner. And when I say that, I mean it. Living in the center of europe never having ridden a "real" bike ( I don't count the single gear 20-ish mph chainsaws real bikes 😂)
    The torque is amazing. It is scary at times, because as a beginner (got my license and bike a month ago) you still have to process what limb has to do what. And the MT-07 has the urge to just jump. Into corners, into wheelies, into speed. So that makes it scary at times when you still need to learn the basics. But to be honest, I am limited to 47 - 48 hp and about as many footpounds. And that almost one to one ratio makes it super smooth to rev up once you are in gear. Having said that, I am stil Parkinglotjousting for the most part, because I still need to think too much about my bodymovement, instead of traffic, so I am slowly increasing the distance on the road to get comfy, but for what I have learned so far on this bike- gosh is it a ton of fun. Can't wait to have all the controlls down and ready and finally get going for real. But slow and steady wins the race. So if interest is around, gonna update once I am out on the road.
    Tl;dr: super fun bike, super torquey, sometimes a bit scary, but that is for me to get comfy with as a beginner 😁👍🤘

    The MT07 is okay, but for a city bike, it's like an overgrown scooter. If you prefer a scooter, the MT07 fits your bill. A better city bike is the simple Z900, very comfortable, agile naked bike. Engine is very smooth in all ranges, and when needed, all 4 cylinders of its 948cc will move you out of harm's way in a quite and calm exhaust fashion; no loud exhaust screaming required.

    Sorry, but you're wrong. If you mostly ride in the city why do you need a 700cc bike that does 220 Km/h? The ideal bike for the city is the MT-03 it weighs 16 kilos less than the MT-07 it's far more nimble it's very quick and has good torque and if you need to go out on the highway it can reach highway speeds of about 160 Km/h. But I know you're plugging the MT-07 which I do have.
