  • Greg Maddux is uncharacteristically un-Maddux-like, yet somehow the Braves still manage to get the better of the Dodgers, August 23, 1998, as Jon Miller and Joe Morgan explain it all on ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball.

What a silly game. One of the few times Maddux straight up didn't have it and got shelled. 5 IP, 7 ER but he still earned the W, lmao.

Thank you for uploading this. This was quite a game, Maddux wasn't on form, but won because Dodgers pitching wasn't on form either. I loved watching Andres Galarraga getting his 40th home run and then fellow Venezuelan Eddie Perez get his 4th home run a couple of batters later and plus Eddie having his funny single the second at bat. (1998 was quite a year for the Braves, Eddie Perez was no exception as he batted .336 in his limited playing time.) Awhile back ago, you uploaded Greg Maddux start on Aug 12, 1998 against the Padres in which he was going for his 200th victory and didn't get it. This is 2 starts later. He managed to win his 200th in the previous start against the Giants on August 18, 1998. Please upload that game sometime if you have it.Thank you very much.

All the guys from the marlins 97 championship team the dodgers aquired played here, not sure why they didn’t get more time together, especially stupid was trading charles johnson for todd hundley

Braves fan here, and as good as the 98 team was....I still feel that even if they somehow get by the Padres in the NLCS, that there's absolutely no way they get by the 98 Yankees. No way, no how.

Eric Gregg one of the worst umpires in MLB history.

@ Joel Valles - In that game against the Marlins in 97 in the NLCS...that last pitch to McGriff was so far outside, it had it's own address...Lol.

What's remarkable in watching this game is that his strike zone is pretty reasonable. I will never understand what the hell he was doing in that '97 NLCS game. The most insane strikezone in an MLB game I've ever seen.
