I was a swim instructor & coach for 6 years. One day I ran into one of my younger kiddos outside of my job and the kid says in the absolute loudest voice for their parent to hear, "Ms. Taylor, you look so different with your clothes on!!!!" Immediately I blush and say equally as loud "Um yes, I do look different not being in my swimsuit!" Mom laughed so freaking hard and honestly I did too 😆🤣.
I had the exact same thing happen to me. Except it was a parent who had trouble recognizing me at first and then went "OH! Coach Linda! I didn't recognize you with your clothes on!" She. Was. MORTIFIED once she realized what she had said.
@@lindamoulton1560 yes exactly 😆😆😆!!!
oh my goodness!!! lol
😂😂😂😂
As a newer swimming teacher, I’m not looking forward to this. Lol.
My friend missed school one day because he had a doctor’s appointment. His family ended up at the local shopping mall. He bumped into one of his teachers there.
Teacher: “shouldn’t you be in class right now?”
Student: “I could say the same to you”
They both gave each other a little nod and kept it moving
Passed the vibe check.
I used to work in a nursery (I think its a daycare in the US?) The amount of times I'd be grocery shopping and hear a crying child. I'd instinctively know which child it was from aisles away by the way they cried or shouted. Then be darting round the aisles like James Bond trying to not be seen 😂
😂
Most awkward parent run in for me: I was at the bar with friends and we decided to go to an after party. People need a ride so 3 random guys climb in the back seat. Note we just had parent teacher conferences. All of a sudden I hear from the back seat, that's my son's art teacher. I was like hold up, who's dad are you. He said, I'm the dad that commented on your tattoos. Without thinking I say, a lot of dads commented on my tattoos. He said, I'm Jon's dad. I said oh hi Mr. Dunn. Then it was silent 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I remember when we invited the exchange student to a party in an abandoned house on the outskirts of the city. We had like a lot of alcohol (we were 17 but our designated driver didn't drink) and were going back to each ones house in one car. When we arrived to the exchange students house she knocked the door and our biology teacher in pijamas opens the door and smiles at us. She laughed, sent her to bed and said "thanks for not getting her drunk and back safe, see you on Monday guys" and she closed the door. The craziest and weirdest thing ever, nobody knew she was staying with a teacher!!!
😭oh wow
She had to KNOCK???!!! What a horrible teacher.
I can’t tell if this is a joke or not
@Say_What well I never knew getting a key of the house as an exchange student was the norm. I mean when I was an exchange student on the USA I didn't get one either 🤷
@@stremimusic oh it does sound crazy but it really happened some few years ago!
“She is white and her name is corner Kim”….teacher starts laughing in inappropriate thought 😂😂😂😂 we all did dude don’t worry lmao😂🎉
I feel like home visits are super dangerous. My sister in law was a head start teacher and some of her stories freak me out. They had a kindergarten er that would attack teachers is he knew they were pregnant. Last year she was pregnant and guess who was in her class. This kid punched her in the stomach. Admin didn't even approve her request to be moved to the infant room for the remainder of her year. We were all fighting for her, we were so scared something would happen. Parents did nothing. My brother was furious. She worked until she gave birth on good Friday. She didn't go back, and I now have a healthy happy niece ☺️
He said it was a social work program, so I think it's so the teachers can see the students home environment for themselves, etc. Like get the feeling for the family environment
Don’t worry as parents feel self-conscious about seeing you as well. Well at least I do. I live in a small pretty affluent community so bars are local and restaurants etc. so sometimes I see people out that work with my children and it’s always awkward for me.❤
It was always awkward with us because people would go up to my mom wanting to talk about my twin and she wouldn't know which person they were
One thing that one if my teachers did during covid was he did like a trivia competition every Monday and he would go to the Kwik Trip and get the winner their favorite candy bar and their drink if choice and then he would drop it off at our houses. He was an amazing teacher. Best part was, he lived in the same neighborhood as two of my friends so I saw him at halloween and I saw him toss his kids into a snowbank. He is a great guy.
I was a gogo dancer in bands and clubs my senior year of high school. I toured all over my state. Up on a platform in booty shorts I hear my name get called but in a teacher tone. It was my advisor teacher with a shock looked on her face. We both laughed became an inside joke until I graduated still talk to her many years after I graduated
bet that was funny
I listen to them while I get my homework done. It has helped me so much and it’s so entertaining.
Same!
❤ Mr. Greg! He has the best stories about teaching drama. Plus, his Halloween/Mardis Gras decor is on fleek.
I just had to take a pause and go find the 2022 greasing of the polls event and GREG YOU KILLED IT. The performance you gave was incredible. you are magnificent!
Where’s the other teachers? I miss them too.
Just an insight, one reason that you would do your homework and not turn it in and/or not get the conferences paper home is because you have ADHD. That was my issue, undiagnosed and told that I was exasperating. "when you want to do something, you can move mountains! Why don't you do that all the time???" It's not something I could control, there was no amount of trying that would help. I currently have baby announcements that are stamped and addressed sitting in my desk drawer at home that I could NOT get into the mailbox at the end of my driveway, that baby is now five years old.
I feel like it wasn’t weird for me to see teachers outside of school because any mom was a guidance counselor so she Obvs made friends with other teachers and counselors and we would have our families hang out. So I knew teacher what slice outside the school. I thought it was odd when I’d have friends freak out over seeing teachers at the grocery store and I’m like 👀 okayyy? They need food too
For me it was awkward seeing my mom's friends in school.
Like I'm in class and suddenly the substitute is the woman who was over at our place last weekend.
But I was friends with their kids, so I knew them at home, too. Like I've been at teachers' places before I was in their classroom
Love that the other 2 teachers are amazed by home visits that headstart teachers do
GREG IS MY TEACHER AND HE ALWAYS SAYS THAT PHRASE!!😂😂😂😂lol
When I was a child, how I longed for teachers and mentors of your caliber. It never happened; but the wish was still there!
I watched the greasing of the poles video and I absolutely loved Mr Greg in it and he was absolutely fantastic ❤️
I live and teach in a town of about 2000. I needed to get my heart monitored one time and went to the hospital to get fitted for a monitor. The technician asked me to remove my shirt (I'm female) and she started fitting me for the device. We got to talking and found out that I taught her son. I wasn't his homeroom teacher and never needed to contact parents for that class, so I'd never met her. Awkward.
I've had parents complain about the artworks that I post on my facebook. They told my boss "She draws Harry Potter and Disney things, I'm concerned about her salvation."
Welcome to the south.
The greasing the pole dance was AMAZING!! I would fully support any of my kid’s teachers!
Where is Rebecca and bri?
I used to live in a small town, I was at the yearly watermelon festival and parade when I ran into “ Ms. Linda” our favorite library volunteer. She invited my kids and I to their BBQ afterward. When we arrived I realized it was their private family bbq AND her daughter in law was my daughters 2nd grade teacher 😂 it was small town funny.
Funny, this got me thinking and I discovered that in all my public school teachers, I never saw even one of them in public that wasn't on school grounds. Maybe my parents did but if so they never mentioned it to me.
They had too much fun filming that intro😂😂😂😂
I had a student see me at the local ER. I didn’t see them but the student had to tell me when they saw me.
Oh my god “Corner Jim and Corner Kim and Corner Tim” i love them
These videos make my day. Also one time I saw my teacher at the dollar tree and her son who is a year older than me was also there.
I love the Mr. Greg drama stories with his students.
My kindergarten teacher had a taxidermy squirrel on her piano. I'm 45 and it's still scarred. 😂
So I teach in a SUPER small town and the nearest town that has their own school is over an hour away. So all the kids go to our school. For me specifically also though, I teach choir for both our middle and high school, so I teach a big chunk of our 6-12th graders. I literally cannot go grocery shopping without running into my students. The most I’ve ever seen while on a grocery run was 7 different students and 2 staff members. If I want even a chance of not seeing my students, I’d have to go shopping at like 10 pm, and even then there’s still a chance I could run into a student. It’s crazy. I also am pretty young and it’s hard to make friends cause even the other employees, most of them have kids at the school. I have been to several of my students houses and been out drinking/dancing with their parents just because I’m friends with their parents and I don’t really have any other options. 😅 I’ve had lots of conversations with the adults and my colleagues about it though and we’re all in agreement that it’s not weird since I don’t really have any other options if I want to have friends.
The one time I skipped class and I ran into my principal at the store. Really awkward
I was SO confused when Tell was talking about the Chubby Trout, I thought he was meaning he could see the school mascot out the window of the restaurant. Not the pre-k Chubby Trout mascot-
So excited to see Greg on your podcast! I was telling my son like 3 months ago I would love to see him on here!
I'm a native of Ohio. My home town is Attica, Ohio. It's really cool to represent. I adore watching all of you, and enjoy furthering my horizons about issues in schools, and teachers have. Rooting for you all good luck! 💓
You go to the....... Is there a bus...... To the address???? 🤣😂🤣😂
Had to pause this so I could watch Mr. Greg greasing the pole. FANTASTIC 🤩
I was on a dating app once. The guy I matched with was SURPRISINGLY in my city. Well, this was awesome because it rarely happens.😍😍
We started chatting and he said he was a teacher. AWWW how sweet! He has empathy! ☺️👌
After a few more weeks of texting (we were taking our time revealing info, getting to know each other, blah blah blah)... he mentioned he taught at my son's high school. I was like...
Oh sh*** 😳
I asked more questions and found out he was my son's math teacher! (My son and I have different last names).
We were both, like, "Dammit to hell! 🤣"
We both agreed that we will take this "L" ... For the children!
Le sigh 😔
Maybe next life time... 😭
Find your joy! I love Greg ❤️
I’m weird about running into my kids’ teachers sometimes depending on how I look lol. Honestly, teachers are human too. I don’t care what you do on your day off. The only thing I’m saying anything about is if someone is doing hard drugs because they need help. Drink, smoke weed, I don’t care. You have a stressful job. I couldn’t do it.
I ran into some of my students at a Taylor Swift concert. Honestly, I enjoy building relationships with my students and parents. I went to birthday parties, soccer games, quinceañeras, etc. I own a tutoring company and dance company now and teach in public and out of my home. I also teach kids at my church. I’m friends with some of their parents. I’m pretty close with my parents and students I’d say. One parent years ago when I was still teaching in the classroom helped me move. I visited another parent in the hospital and went to her birthday party. Her daughter was one of my students my first year teaching. She worked at the school the next year so we became colleagues.
My cousin, her wife, and their child were in town, so my mom and I took them out for dinner. The restaurant was kind of close to the childcare center I used to work at, but I totally wasn't expecting to see a former student with her mom. The mom ended up asking if the little one at the table was mine.
Our neighborhood is small and many teachers live in it. So around Halloween, football games, and block parties where I have seen teachers a little tipsy. I think it’s awesome that our teachers families are involved in the community and school but also why do people villanize teachers for drinking and having fun…..while they are drinking and having fun!?!?
Where is rebecca??
My school district is 2 buildings with MAYBE 100 kids. And that's K-12. Out principal is ALSO the superintendent. 😝
I work in a small town and on the weekend went to the Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque, where theres nearly 100,000 people each day. Storm rolled in and it downpoured, mascara running when I hear my name. Two students and their parents as the water is just flooding at us. 4 hours away from home.
Oh no Mr. Greg! How mortifying and dreading with the competition.
New Orleans where it's illegal to drink and drive, yet there's a drive thru daiquiri sho on almost every corner!! LoL
Let's just throw this out there... Good for those parents who don't need a little 🍷 here and there... Or on the regular 😂 Annnddddd...Mary K. I am screaming 😭😂😂😂
I went to school in Philly. A Catholic school at that. I knew teachers had lives outside of school. Alot of the girls I went to school with in high-school are teachers and they are some of the biggest lushes you will ever see. But they get there job done so why judge someone for the life they live outside of the classroom. Are they hurting anyone? NO! LET PEOPLE LIVE THERE LIFE!
I live in Louisiana and it's great to have someone actually talk about the quiet part out loud
Here's my teacher phrases..tick tock, time is wasting. This is not Burger King-you can't have it your own way.
We got stationed in Ohio through the military and are choosing to stay when we retire. You are right, it is very affordable and there is a lot more to it than people think.
PLUS MY TEACHER DRIVES HIS MOPED TO SCHOOL
Greg! I'm in Parma, OH. Rock on, Ignatius! ❤️
600 is tiny? I went to a school where the average Grade Class Size was 50. 120-150 in the High School. My class was 63. Largest in the school's history
My favorite teacher also went to my church. Love her soooo much.
i work at a coffee shop and sometimes my old teachers come in so sometimes I have to take their orders and thats super awkward
My 6th grade english teacher (I'm from SC) in her country accent would say " I'm talking to you and about you" and "turn around all day everyday" and she talked fast lol oh man the memories
I also worked at head start for 7 years, didn't do home visit. Left & went to another government program position where I did do home visits did that for 5.5 years. It can be dangerous sometimes.
We have a scary Halloween mannequin with long black hair and ghost white skin. We hide it around the workplace as "doll in the hall"
Omg i love the gregism at the beginning
Omg the blended family in the classroom makes me happy
So still no idea why this Greg guy is important, no intros.
Once my math teacher was practicing are hard lock down( practice for when we need to hide) with the cops there to see if they are going it right. And we have these papers to say like if all my students are accounted for or we are missing one kid. So when it started she had to slip the paper under the door( which is stupid because you are saying, all my students are accounted for and are in this class room. It has changed now), but she had a door cover/ stopper on hers so she could not get it under the door. So she opened the door slam it on the ground and slam the door shut just to pass.
I was at a large a taco Festival last October. I’m a little tipsy on margaritas and street corn. I see one of the kid with the most irritating, whiny voice and his cool sis right in front of me with their parents. I go, “Hey, M…. Has totally been acting up every time he comes to my special (library). I had literally called her the day before because of this. The kids (2nd grade) just got an oh sh…look on his face and stared at my tacos while mom made excuses. Great story to tell and remind him when we got back to school.
I went to cedar point almost 20 years ago but Top Thrill Dragster rules hahaha
LOL no there is no bus, and THANK GOD my district let us do optional zoom, since it's a little less than headstart, so it's a little less intrusive
According to the home visit thing 🤣🤣🤣🤣
My vice principal is my neighbor and lives right next to the school
I lived in East Liverpool for about 8 months went to 2 different elementary school... all I remember is grave yards n creepy churches ...
Can I steal mouse in the house and do that with my kids? I despise elf on the shelf but I love that idea!
oh I used to tell my students if they saw me anywhere they were more than welcome to come say hi
and it'd be a cool moment I'd compliment whatever they were wearing tell them to have fun nothing related to school work or anything
they would in turn idk trust me more with their problems and have more confidence in approaching people to say hi and start a conversation so I love that
Yay! Greg! 😊
I live in a small town (100 people) so the school my son went to is a bunch of small towns, like ours ( same population or smaller and country kids that go there, it’s out in the middle of a cornfield, so you see your kids teachers all the time. The time they see their teachers the most, besides school, is trick or treat night. The teachers here are used to it.
32:17 is the funniest 🤣
My teacher taught in Florida a few years back and was running on the beach. She was wearing a sports bra and shorts, but then she saw a student and the family of the student. The student tried to say hi, buy my teacher kept running because that would be awkward because she wasn't in proper attire
There is no way my kids teachers would be doing home visits. WOW
I have family that lives in Ohio and the first time that I went there with my family (2016). I'm from a pretty populated suburban area of Pennsylvania and while we were driving through Ohio and we thought we were lost because of the lack of traffic 😂
Mr. Greg!!!!! ❤
Absolutely adore the podcast, but don’t get time to watch the videos very much. Are you all going to update apple podcast with more audio versions soon?
So… meeting a student at Universal Studios… that one is the impressive one
I’m prek 3 and 4 in a public school and we do home visits . We are the only ones at the school that does them .
Ohio is just corn fields! Lol!!!
I feel like arden Cahill fits the new orleans mr.greg vibe haha
I did not know Greg was in New Orleans!!!
One teacher run in I had was I was at the store with my mom and we saw one of my teachers and my teacher saw me and we both acted like we didn’t know each other
Mr. Greg 🤩
It is sad that he has to think that way and he instantly puts his hands up when a child hugs him.
Y’all! This is why I COULD NEVER be a Teacher. If one of my parents or students saw me in public with alcohol I would be the one to just be like. “Don’t mention anything on Monday.” 😂🤣😂 But I’m also from Vegas we all knew our teachers drank BECAUSE of us. 😂🤣😂
we need to hear from and inner city teacher!
This!!!
I'm from Ohio thank you for standing up for us I guess you could say
When is Greg going to be there? I'm there!!
I love how when they talk and all 3 off them use a word that has an S there S is very sharp when they speak
A student saw me in shorts. Tchewww. I wanted to die
I smoked weed with my little sisters CURRENT teacher. Like, we went on a trip together (since we were fostering the teachers grandkid) the teacher was stressed and knew I smoked weed. I graduated high school a month prior.
So when the teacher asked me in front of my grandma, I knew I had to say yes. My grandma pulled me aside and was like, “you really want to share with her??” And I was like, “when’s the next time I’ll get to smoke with my little sisters teacher?!? Hell yeah I’m gonna share!”
Then we snuck off and smoked a joint, then she trauma dumped on me, I helped her relax, then we saw some wild donkeys seconds after seeing a “warnings donkeys” sign, we died laughing.
Sorry, just wanted to share my one time I saw a teacher out of school story!
They don't treat us like professionals and hold us up on pedestals as if we should not have a life outside of the classroom.
I want to see his Flash Dance
Lauran just be glad you don’t work at the New Albany elementary/middle school in Ohio. it’s awful. i don’t go there but i work at Starbucks close the the NA highschool and middle school and they come to get starbucks everyday after school and it is absolute hell
Love the shorts version if I’m not doing anything but if I’m doing something I will just listen to the longer version
