Its like playing mgs2 before 1 (which i did). You can and follow the story of raiden pretty well. Until an old man jumps into a metal gear, and a guy named big boss was cloned and the president is the clone, and its a recreation of Shadow Moses, etc.

game play is still repetitive and map rehash is completely boring, dont pretend like the rehashed areas are some how excused because it has more story to it because they were just trying to save money. I beat original nier about 3 times, i didnt get ANYTHING out of the gameplay past ending A, i was playing for hours of repetitive shit purely to see literally like 5 minutes worth of new cutscenes. were those cutscenes interesting story wise? sure, can't really defend a really shitty game just for those moments though. same concept with automata except now the characters are worse with marginally better gameplay that is ultimately just button mashy and repetitive as well, and you just do the same shit over and over in the same areas under the guise of there being more story.

I played for a good long while, collected some things beat some guys, did some stuff. Learned some secrets. Then when NieR Automata went on mega sale I bought it and one shotted it and I said many times, "HEY I KNOW WHAT THE FUCK THAT IS!" "GESTALT REPORT? NANI?!" "WEAPON STORIES (easter eggs to the different NieR versions in japan)" "DEVOLA AND POPULA?!" "HEY ISNT THAT WHERE KANIÉ LIVES?" "M-M-METAL GEAR?!" "SEXY GIRLS WHO ARENT HUMAN?!" Its not even super necessary to play OG NieR first. Its got some problems yeah but for those few like Woolie, it does indeed feel good to know "that thing" or if your friend is confused you can be "That NieR lore guy".
It’s not undertale. Undertales neutral ending is an ending, but nier’s other routes continues the story after A (except B which I’m still kinda upset about)
The second playthrough is the worst because every modern gamer just thinks it's a NG+ with a different character, when it is so much deeper and also leading to infinitely more...
Undertale's story also continues in subsequent playthroughs. First ending is after you beat Asgore. In the playthroughs that come after you get new content after meeting Asgore.

I'd love to see them do a full LP with Woolie playing and Pat in the backseat. That way Woolie wouldn't need to worry about finding enough free time to play, since he'd be doing it at work. However, they've specifically stated that they aren't going to do a Nier Automata LP on the channel. I'm not entirely sure why. Maybe because it's a newer game, maybe because it's on the longer side, or maybe because Pat played it too recently.

His deliberate ignoring of all the evidence that says robots can have emotions was so frustrating, and then his extreme turn to madness in C&D routes made me so mad, not only because whenever it made me play as 9S it was really just to make me play the shitty hacking minigame for another 20 minutes, but also because the way that 9S is presented to us, trying to furiously murder everyone and A2, while we know that almost no one did anything wrong, it's just aggravating, for a character to be so wrong, and the writing refuses to make them realize they're wrong, and have a change. Instead, 9S and A2 get their control-swapping final boss fight (wish I could've played as A2 for longer in that) and the game treats 9S like he's completely right. 9/10 game, really wanna play it again.

And again, even when he goes on to discover who's actually responsible for his suffering, he plays right into their hand because he has nothing to fight for anymore, but he has a need to keep fighting. And the final ending is basically a middle finger to exactly that kind of destructive nihilism. 9S throughout part C is the wrongest character in the game.

The Cycle is basically coming to some form of end, but he's just so bitter and full of so much hatred and regret that he's desperate to just keep going no matter what far past the point where it stops being necessary. It's essentially the type of mindset that would probably lead him to finding some way to re-start the cycle just so he can continue taking out his emotions on other things if he had the ability to do so.
9s, a robot designed and programmed to collect intelligence and has his own memories curated by someone else not wanting to accept something that is pure fact right in front of him? That robots, the thing that he also is, has emotions? Color me surprised. Its almost like he's wearing a blindfold or something for symbolism. What a shit character.

You can also quit reading a book after only a chapter and be done with it. You can also quit watching a movie after the opening scene and be done with it. This is an absolute non-argument. Endings A-D aren't endings, they're chapter clears. Matt's confusion is valid but I hope he figures it out and plays through them all
