- Foreigner (Bule) trying Gudeg for the first time in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. I was walking on famous Malioboro Street on Saturday night and spontaneously decided to try traditional Indonesian Food from Yogyakarta. Gudeg in my opinion tastes a bit like Nasi Campur, because there are some similar ingredients inside as well. Like Jackfruit (Nangka), Tofu (Tahu) and Egg (Telur). When finishing my food on this Night Market (Pasar Malam Malioboro), I ate delicious Ice Cream (Es Krim). In Yogyakarta, you can find many non-Javanese traditional foods.
Nasi padang, mie aceh, pempek, etc. And all of them are tasty.

Gudeg is one of my favorite foods.
You should try Gudeg Yu Djum, it's the most famous Gudeg in Yogyakarta (maybe in Indonesia 😂). And i think you should try the dry Gudeg, it's a Gudeg without the soup.

slamet gudeg Jogja and Sumatra are different, if gudeg in Jogja is sweet and delicious, losing to Sumatra is savory, salty or usually found in many Padang cuisine restaurants, more familiar with jackfruit curry 😂👍

You should try to walk 2 hours to the west from Jogja. by motorcycle. you will arrive in Kebumen. we have a special satay and one of the geoparks with the oldest rocks in the world.
if you want to eat gudeg is better outside of malioboro because it is cheaper .

Bahkan untuk warga lokal sendiri makanan malioboro masih sangat mahal itu, lebih baik makan di pinggiran dengan harga lebih murah.
Dari jaman dahulu malioboro terkenal mematok harga yang sangat tinggi dan itu tidak mengenal kamu lokal atau turis.
Masyarakat yogyakarta sendiri tidak terlalu suka dengan cara mereka berdagang.
Dan fakta yang perlu anda ketahui rata2 pemilik kedai warung makan malioboro kebnyakn mreka bukan asli warga sekitar tapi para pendatang dari luar DIY.
Warga lokal banyak membuka warung di pinggiran malioboro. Dengan harga Yang cukup terjangkau untuk warga lokal dan turis.
1 porsi makan berkisar 15rbu s/d 25rbu itu harga wajar, lebih dari itu anda jangan membeli di situ, karna pasti itu bukan warga lokal yg berjualan, mreka terlalu kapitalis dengan memanfaatkan situsasi yg ada.
Saran saya belilah dengan harga wajar dari penduduk lokal di pinggiran, sehingga anda dapat membantu perekonomian mereka jadi lebih baik.

@@WildCARLOSappeared almost everything is my favorite but I prefer less spicy foods. My stomach can not handle the higher level of spiciness. From a scale of spiciness 1 to 10, mine is probably only 3 haha.
Also, I can not eat some "weird foods" here, for example grasshopper, chicken head, chicken feet etc.
