- Malioboro Street Yogyakarta (Jalan Malioboro Jogja) is maybe the most famous street in whole Indonesia. Especially on the weekend it's perfect for just walking around a bit, shopping, watching some people, eating, drinking or just for meeting your friends.
I didn't expect that so many people go to Jl Malioboro. But even though it was crowded, I still could walk there and had a lot of fun.
What you can find the most in Malioboro Street is Batik (traditional Indonesian clothes from Java, especially from Yogyakarta) and Oleh Oleh khas Yogyakarta (traditional Indonesian Snacks). Furthermore there were plenty options of Yogyakarta Street Food.

Thanks for your nice feedback! I'm pretty sure that you will also be able to have some basic conversations with the locals here. Try to focus on the important vocabulary / phrases only and don't focus on grammar like prefix / suffix. Bahasa Indonesia is a very easy language and even with 200-300 vocabularies you can talk a lot! 😌

fyi, indonesia has the worlds largest overseas chinese outside china. Indonesia's population is largely made up of native indonesians and chinese indonesians. Cities like jakarta, semarang, medan, etc has many etnic chinese. Hence, I'd say yogyakarta is a great lively place for tourist to experience indonesian culture and native people as the government prohibits ethnic chinese to own any land in yogyakarta. Theres only few ethnic chinese there cus they're mostly university students or tourists i feel.

Carlos try to find getuk Trio. It looks like Yangko but getuk is made from cassava. There are many brand but getuk Trio is one of the first brand. Getuk Trio is made in Magelang. It is sold in Yogya, Semarang and the surrounding city
