Hi Nadine and Mirjam, well this is a surprise and a good one for your family. You produce plenty of milk and why not make cheese from some of it. Another family member (with help from mom) venturing out into another side area off the farm. Good luck to your sister in a rewarding enterprise's of making cheese. its really good to see your family working together as a team in all areas of your dairy farm. Chris from Victoria, Australia 🇦🇺.
That was very interesting Nadine! Tell Mirjam to keep us updated on her progress into making her cheese. ❤️
Nice video. Would love to see the waxing process and to learn more. Your family's work ethic is remarkable.
I'm thinking there dipped.
Very cool of you Neline to show what Mirjam is up to in her quest to be The Big Cheese! Awesome too for your Mom to be able to be with her daughters at the same time! I would have loved to have heard some of the dialog between you all and heard some of the laughing that went on as well! You Mom commenting on the fact that The Rookie has to do the clean up was hilarious! 🤣 Thank you for feeling comfortable enough to share this adventure with your Fan Base and Thank you to Mirjam and your Mom for allowing us to see a fun side to your Family. Pretty sure Dad and Jan will be in the video where The Taste Testing is done!😂Cheers From COW-lumbus, Ohio MOO 👋
You're so right. By the way, the name is Neline...
@@rypkepaulusma D'OH...don't know what I was thinking. Appreciate you pointing out my knuckleheaded mistake! And thanks for being Classy about it as well! Cheers👋
😮😋
So, that’s what she was doing in Holland for so long.
She was in cheese school!
Love Dutch cheese. Yummy!!
Let us know when she puts it on the market.
I worked 10 years at a cheese factory in Holland town Wisconsin. It's been a minute since I've seen cheese but we called it a curd knife. We used a screen on the whole bottom of the table. We would completely drain the whey and add salt. This was Edam or Gouda cheese. After stirring We "hooked it up in either 5 lb "loaves" or 10 lb "jumbos" that looked identical to your hoops . They then went on carts and put in a cooler. The next day they wax coated them. We made about 1000 lb batches. We also made hickey pucks but that a whole nother story. That brought back so many memories but that was 20 years ago.
Super! Nice smiles throughout says it all.
Totally enjoyed thus video. Yes I would love to watch more of the cheese videos
Wonderful. Would like to see more. Thanks for sharing!
Great video! Congrats to Mirjam and Mom. Your voice over was excellent Neline! Looking forward to more cheese making videos.
Wonderful video loved it
Loved it ladies.
Cool video, thanks to you and your sister. Have a great day!
Enjoyed the video so much, Mom and Miriam look so happy at their work, i come across a video yesterday Neline about a Goat farmer in the UK milking 1,000 Goats by milking machine
Remember the nursery rhyme - Little Miss Muffet, sat on her tuffet, eating her curds and whey. Well, children, there's the curds and whey. She was eating cottage cheese. After most of the whey is removed, the curds are pressed to remove the last of it. Then the process continues, and it becomes Jack, Stilton, Cheddar, Gouda, "Blas Kaas" (Sap Sago) or ... well, you name it. Salt is also added at some point. BUT if the milk maid is making cottage cheese, not all the whey is removed. Did that on my uncle's dairy farm in Ohio, in 1952, when I was seven. Thanks for the memories, and the video. Jon Van Veldthuijzen
Blessed are the Cheesemakers!
So cool to see this! Mirjam is indeed a talented cheese maker, we enjoyed here internship here in Holland. Good luck with the cheese business, hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
That was fun to watch!
That is really cool that she is doing that. Thank you for sharing.
Every (ex) dutch inhabitant knows how to make cheese, and with a big dairyfarm, it makes sense to make cheese, adding value to milk. Hoop in the near future I can buy your cheese :D
Great job, I look forward to seeing all of your progress. You're all a wonderful family to watch.
very cool, glad to see the family expanding to each endeavors
Fascinating! I am a cheese lover! Way to go Mirjam! Thanks for sharing this Neline.
That’s such a cool process.
Very interesting! I was surprised at how many rounds were produced by the amount of milk used.
Darn, wanted to see the waxing.....thank you for taking us along....🙏🙏🙏👨🌾🚜👨🌾😍
Butcher, Baker, candle stick maker that's how a community survives. The first step of the journey.
You and all of your family are so talented and hard working. You are all a pleasure to follow to the extent that we can. Just wanted you to know. Thank you for all that you do. Please pass our respects on to Mirjam.
I worked during the summer in a cheese factory in Northeast Iowa in the 1960’s. Everyone in our neighborhood milked 30 to 45 cows and we had a creamery right in the middle of our township. Same thing you are doing only on a larger back breaking scale. We kept concentrating the cottage cheese size pieces into slabs and then ran them through a stainless steel shredder which produced cheese curds. My mouth waters when I think of the hundreds of pounds of fresh cheese curds we had access to everyday. Some of the nearby farmers would stop in to “visit” and eat fresh cheese curds. Our raw curds were packed in 280# barrels and picked up weekly by Kraft Foods for further processing. The creamery is long closed and there less than a handful of dairy herds in the township. One small organic Jersey herd and two multi hundred cow herds. For perspective, there were six dairy herds on our one mile of road in the 1960’s.
I have always had an interest in cheese making, watched a lot of Gavin Webbers’s videos. Her finished product looked superb and the smile on your Mom’s face said it all. Great job.
Love watching your family’s journey in farming. Your new adventure with goats is cool to see. Haven’t seen your brother in a while is he done making videos.
Thank you! And Jan isn’t done he’s just on a “break” and didn’t let anyone know 🤷♀️.
Looks good! Looks like you need to make a cedar board to create a table for filling the cheese molds.
And don't forget to make ricotta cheese from the whey!
This was absolutely fantastic and incredibly interesting thank your sister for sharing her process with us🤩🤩🤩🤩 Thank you for sharing your time and family with us🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Loved the cheese making. I wish I could eat it right now.♥️🇵🇹
THE THOUGHT OF HAVING CHEESE FROM THOSE THAT DO EVERY STAGE IS AMZING!
Very interesting. Thanks for sharing and I hope you feel better soon
I love the introduction, made me think of Star Wars. The cheese stuff is neet too.
Too funny! I didn’t realize as I’ve never seen Star Wars 😂
This is so cool! Thank u for sharing
so satisfying to watch tbh
This was great!!
That was very cool 😎!
Great video! Thanks for sharing!❤
It was mesmerizing. Thanks for posting and thanks to Mirjam and your Mom.
That was unexpected as I thought cheese making in kitchen...definitely not at this scale. Very interesting as all my cheese making classes have certainly not been at this scale. I see a future of artisan cheeses for your sister coming up. I wish I was closer to get milk..lol. Goat cheese perhaps is in your future! Good video.
I love all your videos Neline, especially the ones with family! And the goats 😂
Thank you it looks good
Wow…I’m impressed!

Hey.......interesting and a supprise from the usual videos !! 👍👍👍👍
Sooo like TITO's handcrafted Cheese??!!
I love your videos and I loved you brothers videos too but he hasn't posted any videos in I think like 2 months now
I really enjoyed , your family has many talents !
From a state is well-known for cheese 🧀 Wisconsin USA 🇺🇸. My grandparents worked in cheese factory in early 1900s.
Nadine, way back in my younger years, I used to teach UK tour guides and coach drivers on touring around the Netherlands. I can tell your viewers (I know you are already aware of this) that of all the cheese that I have eaten over the years, (and yes I come from a farming background too) Dutch cheese is way ahead in flavour and texture, and once you have eaten it, you wont want anything else. Good luck to your sister in her new venture. Thanks for Scotland
nice job Mirjam
It's so nice of you to show many aspects of farming. This is exactly what we used to do at home, back in the day. I remember 'Rivella' being brought along when the empty milk cans came back from the factory. What do you do with the whey, is it all sold or do you use some at the farm, for feeding calves etc.? Great video!!!!
love it
The good ones make it look easy.
Great job! Super excited for Mirjam! Is it cheddar or gouda? 😋 i would order it for sure!
I enjoyed your video.
Very interesting.
Neline, this was great! Has Mirjam (or you) thought of Goat's Cheese? Its very delicious too. Best of luck in this new venture; I can't wait to see it play on.
Brings back memories when mom would make cheese most times it was cottage cheese and sometimes she would make butter and my gosh it was good ✌🏻👍🇺🇸
They look yummy already. 🧀
I ready to eat the cheese when it starts selling in future and in years
That is amazing that your sister is going into the cheese making.
Will your sister do her own CZcams videos?
Well done Mirjam. What sort of cheese? From the Yellow wax can I assume Gouda. I had some really gorgeous Mature Gouda on holiday, so tasty, so different from the plastic stuff from the supermarket. What happens to the whey? Does it go back to the cows? How long does it take for the cheese to mature? How long has she been making cheese? Have you had a taste of it yet? Why do you have a rectangular vat, surely a round one with a mechanical curd cutting paddle would be easier?
Sorry so many questions.
Thank you Neline for filming this. I hope that Miryam can feel a bit more confident and can feel like giving us some more information. It is nice that she has found a good side business as well.
There’s a distillery in Almonte, Ontario using whey to make vodka. It’s called Vodkow. 😉
Nadine , second paragraph, I buy from Philpott I live in Pueblo Colorado , about 75 miles south : the favorites Plain ,Jalapeno, Pueblo chili , chili Pequin , Garlic & Basil , also fresh Ricotta , this product sells very well , 25 to 30 dollars a pound , this again ideas for the future , both of these two businesses on the Internet, good luck & stay safe , Philpott at one time was milking 140 goats , great business , you & your family will do well in the cheese business , stay safe & have fun !
The women in your family are so multiple talented. Do they make butter also that would be interesting to watch. Does your mom make goat milk cheese? I'm sorry you opened a door and I have so many new questions. Thank you for a great video hope your goats are all doing well. ❤️🙏 From Michigan
Nice video! I have one question. Where is your brother Jan? Its been a while he dropped a video. Greatz
Wondering the same thing
❤🎉😂Absolutely 💯 Beautiful. Blessings to you and your families ✝️ 💖 👪
What a wonderful video and the cheese looks beautiful. please say hi to Jan we miss him and hope to see him real soon. all the best to you and your family. From Halifax Nova Scotia.
will Jan be back soon?
Leuke video! Hopelijk kan ze hier haar werk van maken! Groetjes van een Nederlandse melkveehoudster
That was interesting
Fascinating. What do you do with the whey? Feed it to the cattle and goats?
Do you use paraffin wax or bees wax when coating the cheese? Great video. Cheers from regina
What flavor of cheese? Your family is so creative. Love it.
