This is a really good American. Humble, honest hard working guy from the heartland of America who went to an unpopular war with his brothers and served with distinction. The story about the Marine running out under fire and picking him up, “you SOB, if I had known you were this heavy…” then the same Marine and another Army troop proceed to rescue several more. It would be great to find out who these guys were, but may be lost to history

My Dad was a Corpseman from 67 to 69 in Nam, and every story I hear, I like to believe maybe my Dad was there to help. He would never talk about what he went through or seen, and always said he'd do it again to save younger folks from the experience. My Dad passed two years ago, and he will always be a hero to me. B-41-59-19...❤️🇺🇲

When i was in the u.s.army, stationed on the port of Pusan, South Korea, in a transportation company, 01/1969 - 02/1970, the USS Upshur was ferrying R.O.K. Army troops to and from Vietnam in a rotation with 2 or 3 other MSTS troopships. After dropping off a load of R.O.Ks, who’d finished their tours, they’d replenish their supplies in Sasebo, Japan, come back and pick up another bunch for destination, Vietnam.

I think when we are young we feel invincible, and always feel like getting killed won't happen to us. I was blown up by a sapper my first week and only had a slight concussion and some cuts and scrapes but nothing serious. I was lucky the explosion blew me out of the building across the street. The sapper had made it to the doorway and threw his satchel charge in side and so i was behind the explosion and it blew me back across the street.

We wore the green back then,, army, 67-70....Spent my share of time associating with a lot of returned 1st Air Cav and 25th Inf being warehoused at Ft Benning...lot of them showing symptoms of being caught up in government subsidized lunacy, on an industrial level...We all got out before '75.. but it must've been a real turn on for them to watch the NVA go thru the ARVN like crap thru a goose on the news after we left..

Sheeesh?...when was this conducted?... 83?...This cat looks SO YOUNG?. Ive seen 100+ interviews, many on my FAV channel "Voices of History".The Vets there are 63-73 with interview dates 2006-14. I heard Don Kaiser's name mentioned and Ive seen HIS interview (if its the same one?) Half of this country IS and always WILL BE Pro communist so thank yee so much Jim for your service in SE Asia, and subsequently, keepin Charley's head down over HERE as well. Had it not been for the blood bought sacriface of the Korean/Vietnam Vets,KHRUSCHEV's prophetic words woulda came to pass in MY generation, being the "sons & daughters" He spoke of. Enjoyed this ALOT guys! (too short though)..☺

@@truestoriesfromthevietnamwarthere’s also a book called a Vietcong Memoir.
Seems to me soldiers are soldiers and most of your average guys probably have a lot in common.
Now my Grandfather fought the SS several times and said many times they encountered war crimes and I got the impression he felt that a lot of them were evil
. I never got to ask him as an adult the bigger questions about how he felt. He did his job saw a load of combat and I think the brutality of what he saw really shocked and changed him. He was a great man and I’m very proud of him and all our military and veterans.
