- Is your dust collector and table saw tripping your breaker? In this video I will try to help with the common issue of a table saw or some other big power tool tripping a breaker when both are running at the same time. This seems to be a common issue when a 15 amp breaker is installed. Please hire a licensed electrician if you do not feel comfortable messing with electricity. This is only meant for educational purposes to explain why your breaker is tripping. I will also explain ways on how to fix this problem.

Automatic vacuum switch- amzn.to/3Po1apm
12/2 Romex wire - amzn.to/3CLmihC

I had the breaker on my switch trip when I was cutting heavier loads on the table saw. Both Vac and table saw were on the same circuit. I abandoned the switch and put Vac and table saw on separate circuits (table saw on a 20a and vac on a 15a.) This solved my tripped breaker problem. I just have to turn the Vac on and off manually.
Never knew this, great information. Thank you!
Nice! I have one of those switches already!
Those switches are really neat but I can't see them working in my shop due to how I set up my electrical. I also went 20amp breakers, wiring, light switches, and outlets but I split circuits. I have my table saw 220 on it's own breakers obviously but then miter saw, planer, dust collector and shop vac are all on separate breakers to avoid tripping them. I never looked into switches like you have there with the delays. I also recommend making sure if swapping to a 20 amp breaker run new wire and also ensure the outlet is 20amp.
Those switches are quite handy
This was very helpful information coming from a carpenter that only does limited electrical work! I know enough to get hurt 😳 so I stick to ceiling fans, plugs and switches. I do need to install 20 amp breaker for my new bandsaw.
Thanks again!
Glad it was helpful! I was thinking about doing a more detailed video on how to change the breaker and running a new wire, what to buy and exactly how to do it.
@@yellowhammerwoodcrafts That would be very helpful from a woodworkers perspective as well.
My basement only has 15 amp breakers currently. Only trips when I use dust collector and tablesaw under pressure. Before I switch to at least 1 20 amp circuit, I was wondering if using a splitter and working off 30 amp dryer outlet.
I’m no electrician but I have a little electrical experience and I wouldn’t recommend that.
