- Tadej Pogačar Could DOMINATE The 2024 Giro
We all know Tadej Pogačar has done pretty much everything you can do in pro cycling. But there’s one thing that’s still missing. Racing the Giro d’Italia. With his past seasons being focused on chasing the yellow jersey, he admitted that in 2024, he could go as far as racing all three grand tours on the calendar. So is it time for Pogačar to finally mix things up and put the pink jersey at the center of his attention? And could he actually win the Giro d’Italia?

Winning all 3 grand tours is, in my opinion, more important than winning 3 tours de France
And 1 worlds too
Winning 1 TDF is more important than winning each of the other grand tours, combined.
@@GoustiFruit true, and he has already done that twice. But as long as Vingo is focusing on just the tour, it's unlikely he has another shot at winning it, so it probably is smarter to focus on other big races
I truly think Pogi can win almost anything. If I were him, I‘d go for the Giro, Vuelta and Worlds and if that works then focus on winning the remaining monuments and maybe a 3rd Tour
I think winning this years tour would be more important than in other years because of how good the field is.
I think it'd be a win-win for him to contest the Giro. He'd get to keep it fresh and Primoz would have a better chance at a Tour victory, not that he is owed any gifts, just that Primoz v. Visma might be enough of a duel, with Remco doing whatever he can in his first appearance on the grandest of sports stages.
Can't go for win win argument for reasons I previously stated and if he doesn't win both giro and vuelta he will be deemed 4th or 5th ranked rider rather than his current #1.
@@user-sj1hz9qw3e A rider never knows what tomorrow holds and I recall reading something Laurent Fignoun said in a European cycling magazine during the winter of '84/'85. He had won the Tour in his first two participations and he said for the '85 season, he wouldn't be satisfied with only another Tour victory, that he wanted to win the Tour and a classic in '85. And that didn't seem unreasonable but it never happened and it wouldn't be until '89 that he came close yet fell eight seconds short of a third Tour victory to his former teammate on Renault. Still, decades later, Laurent is remembered and respected as one of the greats of the '80s. And this decade has its great riders and not sure any one rider will be remembered as the best, tho' a strong argument will likely be made for Tadej. And I am simply supporting or echoing his desire to be the victor of a variety of races and this year, with so much focus on the Tour as perhaps a final hurrah for Primoz to win, the Giro and Vuelta seem like a perfect combo to ride and contend for victory. And whatever he and his contemporaries opt to race, each will be #1 in the eyes of their fans. 😀
Remco is no threat to Pogi. Not in monuments or TDF, Giro, or Vuelta. Bora and Rogla will be hungry next season and the biggest threat to JV or whatever they'll be called next year.
@@saturnative Sure, in the grand tours, no question that Remco has yet to prove himself against Tadej or any of the others, really, yet he has had great success in one-day races and, like the others on any given day, can ride away from everyone and win the day. And it is great to see the best of this era/decade come up with wild, unpredictable performances, whether it is Tadej or Remco or any one of about six other superstars.
Lay off a heavy classics schedule, do giro, rest and build, do Olympics, do vuelta, do worlds (I forget if vuelta overlaps). That'd be solid and like he's said, he's already got 2 yellow jerseys and he seems ho hum with the Tour now. Keep him fed, but hungry.
No lay off heavy classics and do tdf against best riders and teams
for me it's better N2 option. let's be honest, win giro vuelta and rainbow jersey all in 1 season it's a great accomplishment even without the yellow jersey
hes not going to the vuelta
I really appreciate you. Your videos are great.
More-emotionally-stable Carlton Kirby is a great presenter.
As road purists are mostly watching this channel, of course we would rather see him chase everything but the TDF for a few years. Fingers crossed
I sort of hope he does the Giro, Vuelta, Olympic and WC.
Giro in 2024 seems a bit too easy, relatively speaking. It would be a pity if he would not compete with Jonas, Primoz and Remco in TdF.
True, i would Love to See all of the big 4 at next years tour
@@peterpimmel5307can you enlighten us as to who you are referring to when you say the big 4???
@daniluis7777
Tadej Pogačar, Jonas Vingegaard, Primož Roglič and Remco Evenepoel
@@igotugot7941 Oh c'mon, you can't count Remco as a threat to Pogi, Rogla or Jonas... You're not serious! Remco has nothing on those three.
Because of what? We've only seen parts of his true performance at grand tours, was the giro d italia a conclusion to his potential? Was the vuelta also a conclusion to his true performance? It may seem that way but up to the 2nd week he was performing very good and it is only up to us to judge if he is good or not, some people also make generalizations out of circumstancial data that perhaps isn't true like his weird situation at tourmalet where he dropped from the first mountain, you can't say that's normal. He would have dropped at tourmalet itself.@@saturnative
I doubt that his team will let him race the Vuelta, Giro and missing the Tour with the salary he has
Maybe he opts to ride Giro, Tour, and Worlds. I suspect the world championship to his 1 goal wether stated or not for 24
You can bet that Pogacar's number one goal in 2024 is to get his Tour title back, and riding the Giro isn't the best preparation for that. I'm sure that he'll try it some other year though.
I want to see him beat Jonas but I'd rather see him go for pink and red
Let Rogla beat the fisherman on TDF. ;)
Hey, if Sepp Kuss can race all three grand tours in a year (and win one!), maybe Tadej could ride the Giro in addition to the TDF. Admittedly, Sepp rode two of the grand tours in 2023 as a domestique, which allowed him to take a few stages outside the mountains a bit easier.
it would be good if Pogačar came because Remco would also be there (Remco thought he would be alone at the race, when there was a crowd) ... he he he
You forgot he will be aiming for Olympic gold next year ;)
Jeez, how many times, it's "poh GAT cha" 😉. Nicely presented video though as usual 👍.
Thank you :) We're trying our best to improve the pronunciation, sorry for the inconvenience😊
You are very welcome, thanks for the increasingly great content !
Going for giro and vuelta with a " light" field would put TP in no win position. Even if he dominates, it will be argued he really didn't beat anyone of high caliber. But he is being dangled with a large appearance fee by 2024 giro organizers, so who knows?
If he does that he will hurt his legacy, the very best don’t run away from the challenge
I agree.
You put it out as if Pogi has a choice. I am sure that Pogi would love to win the the Tour once again, but he has to beat Jonas also in week three. But, it is so impressive that Pogi also can win Monuments, but if both Jonas and Pogi would race the Giro same Year who would take the win.
Pogi, because he is in far better from from the beginning of the season, while Vingo peaks in July.
@@user-vm5qf4qk4t Nah, Vingegaard is recovering better from Grand Tours.
I think he will try for a 3rd time to beat Jonas and if he looses again go to GIRO in 2025.
If he wins Tour in 2024 he has the problem, that he needs to defend his title in 2025.
With the team hes taking to the tour he should win. My onlly doubt is not taking the pole.
Greg LeMond won 3 TdF's & 2 World Championships, which I would take over 2 TdF's, 1 Giro & 1 Vuelta & 1 World Championship. Also Alberto Contador won all 3 Grand Tours twice
Yes he can win the Giro. Can he win the Giro and the Tour? How about all three in one year? Maybe. He's the only one I think who could do it. I'm not sure he can beat Jonas if Jonas just concentrates on the Tour. Vuelta Giro and Worlds sounds great in particular if he takes one the classics. Just one. That would put him up there along with Eddy, Bernard, Greg, Miguel and any of the others.
Why wouldn’t Jonas be able to do so? He probably could have won the Vuelta this year, I think he is pretty much unbeatable at the tour and might be hungry for more
Jonas is extremely underrated. Maybe because he is not a showman. He (with JV team) is a dominant force in TdF. The 2024 TdF is tailor made for him. The probability of a third consecutive yellow is very high. TdF is the most watched cycling event and that is the one that matters. Pogi is awesome. Whatever race he competes, the pressure to win is enormous. Consequently he works harder and this has a potential to make him less fit (fatigue sets in) when the big tours begin. This makes the repeat of TdF 2023 inevitable. Unless he commits training for TdF (he often doesn't), he will surely miss the 2024 yellow jersey.
Agreed, although I wouldn't say that Jonas is extremely underrated. He could have own the Vuelta but so could Primoz. We'll never know. Jonas time trial in the Tour was magnificent! @@livincarter
To be considered the best, he needs to win the TdF against a top field. Winning the Giro and Vuelta against watered down fields won’t add as much to his legacy. Win a 3rd yellow in 2024 then go for Giro and Vuelta in 2025.
He won't sacrifice the TDF for the GIRO, he wants the BIGGEST & BEST and no race is as Big as the TDF
# Option 1
I think he should try to win all the spring classics that he can, then Giro d Italia, then have a break and at least try the world Championship. But It s not gonna happen because of sponsors wanting him at the Tour and because of team general plans. So i think he s gonna skip Giro d Italia again..and It s a pity..cause a great One as POGACAR needs to come to win the Giro (and Vuelta in a second moment)..and he should try to do It as early as possible because Giro and Vuelta are full of great and very hard climbs..so It would be better ( in my opinion ) to focus more on races with important climbs in the First part of his career and to gain weight to try to win for example Paris-Roubaix and Milano-Sanremo (being heavier and for this also faster in sprint) in the second part of his career
Hey!
I actually believe he can win both if he used the Giro to get ready for the Tour de France.. it would have to be planned where he gains form using the Giro. It has been done before and if he pulled off both he would put himself as one of the truly great riders.
are you pronouncing his name correctly, how does he pronounce it?
build a good team around Tadej or Remco and try to find Yonas.
I think this year it was Jonas against Tadej and Jonas won without a bigger help of the team than Tedej got
And TDF24 will be the duel between Jonas and Rogla. I bet on Rogla to win over the fisherman.
The desire for pogacar to focus on the tour is strictly a selfish viewpoint of the cycling public and commentators. He’s already said that winning a lot of tours is not his interest or intention.
Tadej can win it all this year since the Basque disaster takes out Jonas, Remco, banged up Primoz and several other riders. What a disaster race.
He has won the TdF twice, but never the Giro and Vuelta. There is no need to win the TdF a third time, but to win the Giro and Vuelta to win to become one of the greatest champions in the cycling history.
He already is, but who cares if he wins the Vuelta or the Giro if he can win the Tour de France... He will always be considered 2nd to Vingegaard as Grand Tours are concerned if he isn't able to beat him.
Not a bad place to be. lol.
@@HolgerDanske874Well, he actually beat him already in 2021 TDF.
@@user-vm5qf4qk4t He beat domestique Vingegaard, never leader Vingegaard
Well yes he can win anything in 2024 if he retains good health please don't mention A Yates in the same breath like comparing a Tesla to a Micra.
with doping...
I think Pog is running from Jumbo now. He likes to win and if Jonus is there, it might be a problem. If Jonus does the Tour/ Vuelta then that that may be tricky. The Tour is the yardstick and since Jonus has won the Tour, the others don't seem quite at that level. I wish Pog go for the Tour as that's the biggest race and ducky out looks like he's running scared.
seriously? he takes on guys like wva and mvdp on their fucking hometerritory and beats them and he had the guts to go to the world championship after cracking in the tour and finished third on a tough-as-nails course. and you really think he is running from jonas? theres no way hes not gonna race the tour the way i see it and therefore also no chance he does the giro, hes surely gonna challenge jonas at the tdf.
I agree that was a very weird take, otherwise he wouldn't have raced the tour after his injury.@@tilmania361
@@tilmania361 :D Nice swearing :D Na, think unless he's going to spend the next 7 months preparing for the Tour then Jonus will do him again. I think you been on the testostone patches too much; I didn't say Pog wasn't amazing, he is!!
@@jerrychicken967 i didnt say jonas wouldnt beat him i just said pogi isnt scared of anyone^^ jonas looks like the better GT rider currently but when pogi won back to back tours he also had an aura of invincibility and people also said bernal was unbeatable a while ago :D
@@tilmania361 I think if Pog wants to win the Tour then he needs to go all in. I think other races don't do him any favours. I'd like to see him win again to be honest. :)
He needs to redeem himself from TDF.
you lost a subscriber now. probably stop those clickbait fake news thumbnails
Tadej has not won a grand tour for 2 years now. He knows he can’t beat jonas at the tour so seems logical to go after the giro. He might as well skip the tour and get a Vuelta too.
For.a guy with a cycling vlog, you dont seem to know a lot about cycling...
Dopi-boy and his Mauro Gianetti dopi-team.... 🤮
If Tadej goes to Giro, then Remco will not show up there. He is currently waiting to see if Tadej and Roglic are going to the Giro to decide if he will be that coward.
pathetic statement. Choosing a calendar isn't an individual action, the entire team and bosses plan the whole season. do you think someone with a salary as high as tadej can selfishly decide his schedule? the reason he won a lot of classics and races was because the entire team was supporting him, product of the whole schedule that was laid down before the season started. It's not entirely his choice.
Until Tadej changes his strategic mindset, he’ll continue losing the TDF to Jonas Vingegaard.
The fisherman has to worry about Bora next TDF. Not Pogi but Rogla. Bora will be superstrong next year and I bet on Rogla to beat Jonas.
