    • @Ekodome
      @Ekodome  Před rokem +2

      6mm twin-wall panels will have limited contribution to the strength of the dome frame. Still better than 4mm, but ultimate strength is determined by the rigidity of the selected material, not the thickness. To clarify, consider the comparison of 4mm steel, 10 mm polycarbonate, and 20mm Osb.

    • @Ekodome
      @Ekodome  Před 2 lety +2

      The TPE SEBS seals on the aluminum struts and strut caps are preferred according to their technical datasheet. Unfortunately, no one has tested the seals "for years" since this is a new frame design. But, comparing the PVC seals on the regular house windows, this compound offers superior technical advantages. You can read details here: ekodome.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/TPE-SEBS-Seals-Data-sheet.jpg
      Furthermore, we provided enough convenient space on the aluminum struts to apply silicone between the panels and struts to guarantee 100% water tightness.

      An angled gasket profile would allow water to run off the dome. The horizontal struts will prevent the water running off. The standing water will find any weak point in the seals and will almost certainly lead to algae growth as dust (nutrient) will naturally collect there too.

    It is one of the best designs I have seen as far as ease of construction and ability to choose materials. I do have questions about insulation and interior finishing. Will you be designing a solution for the interior that would allow installation of wiring inside tracks? for hanging panels of wood or drywall? Will there be an insulation gap between the interior and exterior? If one would wish to build with Structural Insulated Panels for provide the shell for example, that would provide an external, internal and insulation, but it would require cutting the interior triangles smaller that where they connect to the dome, is that feasible? I appreciate your dedication to making housing affordable and easy for people, and i am very interested in the possibilities, thanks so much for your time and attention.
