A scratch on the wall of the glove box?! Okay, that customer was searching for something to complain about!😂
So. It was 600$! He prob only noticed cuz the plate was in the glovebox.
when you are asked to pay 600$ to detail your car, you expect rightfully PERFECTION. Remember that he paid so much because he wanted his car in pristine condition, definitely not adding scratches, no matter how insignificant they may sound to you, who clearly isnt willing to pay up this amount of money for such a service.
@@elwingythat depends how much 600 is
..if he gets A LOT OF SRRVICE, more than at any competitor company..then its stupid to complain. but if it is really "over priced" or above market average price..then you can expect above quality/perfection
That’s crazy
It was probably already there.
Bro he was looking for a refund
Not really. Usually when you pay $600 you expect a top service now i'm not saying he did a bad job but if you are going to charge $600 for a detailing then ensure its one of the best service in the world

“You don’t lose a customer by making a mistake. You lose customer by the way you handle the situation.” Well said.
100%!! It’s about how you take care of me after something goes wrong that will win or lose my business for life. Those that have the money, those that know how valuable their time is, don’t perform physical labor for a reason. Once you understand that, and take care of me, I am your trusted customer until you stop taking care of me
I'd imagine it also involves humbly accepting when you've made a mistake, but also reasonably accommodating the customers' mistake. If the customer is being unreasonable, then it's probably best to just let them go. Word of mouth is powerful and will negate any blustering the negative nancies do.

Good philosophy 👍
Shut up
I remember when a detail job was $150. That was back in 1995.
In 1995, 150 bucks was two weeks rent.
That would be like 300 bucks adjusted for inflation
I think 1995 was the last time I "detailed" any vehicle I've owned.
I remember it being that like 10 years ago and they did a damn good job too
Its 69$ right now in my city if you in the hood.
To everyone complaining about “soap” on the steering wheel, you don’t know how to properly clean leather.
I wouldn't install or uninstall anything during a detail. The customer could know the part is broken and ask you to remove it just to make it look like it was your fault.
Exactly! Any BMW enthusiast will know that those plate mount brackets are prone to breaking. 99.98% chance it would, in hopes of him using that against the detailers. Sounds like a scumbag to me
Solid point, but generally speaking, on stuff like that, I film myself taking anything apart so that it’s extremely obvious I didn’t break anything just to cover my ass.
@@OMFGitsJonyou just made up an entire scenario in order to call the guy a scumbag lmao what actually happened was they scratched the glove box and are going to replace the item because it was their fault
@@Thabzzzah yea because it’s definitely reasonable to expect a full replacement of the glove box (probably $200-300) because of a superficial “scratch” in the fabric on the inner fold of the glove box in a spot where the driver and passenger would have to be explicitly searching for in order to see it….detailer brushed his hand over it at the end and I couldn’t even see the thing anymore and I knew what I was looking for
Customers will try and pull some of the most absurd shit that’s so out there you can’t even imagine it until it comes out of their mouth, there’s no need to make up a guy when if you work a cs job you’ll see several ridiculous customers a week bare minimum without even trying

That's so risky, imagine causing a short somewhere 😢
I was thinking he same thing
mechanic here. ask yourself how you think your car works when it's raining? every electrical component is protected by some form of gasket/seal call it what you want. I'm not saying take a pressure washer to your interior or engine bay, but it's not a problem. sometimes it is actually used deliberately to diagnostic faulty parts (usually plug wires) because you can duplicate the issue that way. key word, issue. if it's not insulated from water it's a faulty part.
@@willyluciano9036 Good to know. Thanks for the info!
@@tracy3066 no problem. I think when cleaning products talk about that in their directions it's a "cover our ass for the dumbest people out there" thing. you'll be fine as long as you don't take what I just said to some wierd extreme. like a pressure washer for example. you might find out something is faulty, however if that happens, park the car in the sun or something let it dry out, take it to a shop and tell them what happened. like 90% of the time, it'll be a misfire because your plug wires are on the way out or something like that. or mechanical failure like an intake gasket leaking sucking the water into the engine. again, even that not a big deal. think of it like running it on a crazy humid day in Florida. the engine will be fine unless you don't fix it for a long period of time. it can only indicate a problem exists before that problem leaves you stranded on a terribly rainy day leaves you stranded on such a miserable day.
edit, I'm just trying to be helpful I hope that's coming through in my comments. Hes detailing and taking everything off he’s obviously trying to sell it so why wouldn’t he be mad about a scratch? He’s clearly selling it.
That customer is someone i would never want to work for again. You would be doing business owners a favor if you told us who it is so we could block their business in advance.

They should have a Yelp for customers
@@jWx93 Bots aren't business owners. You'd never understand because you're AI and not real.
First mistake was installing or uninstalling stalling items not part of the detail, BUT I’d have asked the customer to document the need, and followed those instructions. Clarity becomes the issue and can be backed up with documentation.
Ask him to see the registration of the car and make sure it wasn’t stolen😂
"the car was not in prefect condition by any means" doesn't matter whatsoever
That's why he ordered a 600 dollar detailing 🤷
It does actually. Prior damage or wear and tear definitely matters and that’s why shops take notes. Imagine fixing or washing a car and the customer comes back stating you damaged something that was already fucked up but because you didn’t document it now you have to take care of it. A lady did that just today at my job. We fixed the rear end of her car and she came back with part of her center console in her hands claiming we broke it. We showed her and our bosses the prior pictures of it already being damaged and she had to take a hike. People/customers will absolutely try to fuck you over and scam you for more services than what they paid for and try throwing a bitch fit hoping it gets them their way and when it doesn’t they act like you’ve lost a customer or they try to defame your company name by giving shitty reviews
@@ajtoofly7315 I understand what you're saying, but I meant in the context of what the guy was saying. the guy was saying "we may not bother fixing something we did because his car already didn't look like new."

If ur doing a full detail that means the plates come off especially at that price point u know how much dirt and grime are under the plastics
U shouldn't have to be asked to do that on a $600 detail
There’s a difference between removing to clean behind it, which they probably DID, and removing it totally…..they don’t tell us that, thus you are making a stupid insinuation……but YES, if you want the plastic totally removed you SHOULD have to ask, because MOST people wouldnt want it removed totally
@@zakarchokamyou’re just making excuses for incompetence, it’s common sense to get down to the bare paint 🤯
@@X11CHASE No common sense would be to clean under it and put the plate guard back on to PROTECT the paint dumb dumb….jog on
I had a shop recently put PPF on my new truck hood and bumper, they did a really good job, but it’s not perfect- but if you ever tried PPF you have to understand how challenging it is, so i didn’t complain, just had them make a note of it in case there’s an issue down the road. Owner told me they recently did a full PPF on a new Porsche “classic” which is a super limited 911, he said they wouldn’t do it again as there is too much liability, i don’t think people understand how much liability detailers and shops have regarding customer cars, especially high end or or rare vehicles. Expecting perfection is unreasonable, but these types of car owners don’t understand as they often have never actually done the work themselves, and they are used to complaining about small things, sometimes so they get a discount others because they complain about everything, nothing in their life makes them happy, even when it is perfect
I was a detailer at an Acura dealership, and a guy bought a white car with tan interior, and apparently always stepped on the grease and oil spots in parking lots. The stains were ground into the carpet floor mat, and he was mad because I couldn't get the stain out. My boss told him to get new floor mats, or buy a car with dark carpet.
I understand the license plate issue, if I paid 600 for a detail I expect everything to be cleaned thoroughly. The scratch in the glove box wouldve not been my problem
They’re not showing you the big scratch, they’re only showing you the small scratch that I forgave - all for some juicy manipulative content.
The first problem was the $600 highway robbery! You start off screwing the customer right off the bat with insane prices you leave the door open for them to nit pick the crap out of your work. Nothing you did was worth $600!
I see your point and as a blue collar wage slave myself I would struggle to be ok with dropping that kind of money on a basic car wash but we’re talking about a luxury service called automotive detailing. My cheapest wash on the smallest type of vehicle I service is 125 usd and it goes up from there.
@@arrozconmgtow5026 And the only reason that is, is because the consumer continues to pay those ridiculous prices. Why should a blue collar job such as washing your car be considered a luxury? They aren't doing anything you couldn't do yourself. Yes there are some special tools and cost to their price should be added to it for the use of those tools, but not to the tune of $600! At that point it's all a gimmick! And part of the gimmick is these cool videos making it look like it's anything but what it actually is, just a little bit of elbow grease. There is no way that that price can be justified. 125 to fully detail a car inside and out and make it look good, I'm down with that! Even 200 (depending on size) but after that we're just getting ridiculous.
@@arrozconmgtow5026 BTW I'm blue collar just like you and Id feel horrible doing a person like that for a car detail. I mean maybe a Lamborghini or something like that but just the everyday car?? It's probably in that condition because they haven't had money to get it done in the first place.
$600 is insane
Usually what I do every time I do a full detail on any car I always remove license plate and hardware and I placed it in a bag and I placed things in a box that That I put in their trunk with all their valuables are use bags, For coins to avoid any circumstances like this and I do like to do a evidence video around the whole car inside and outside to avoid or try to get con con by customer it’s a dog, but we got a watch our own. It also looks good.
You clearly have attention to detail that apparently wasn’t worth my $600 to these guys
I bought my truck almost a year ago. Not brand new but new to me and that’s the way I go because I work with my hands and I put wear and tear on my trucks. I was asked if I wanted it detailed and I said not really but if you guys want to do the minimum you can. They spot painted and cleaned the truck and polished the wheels and tires! Looked amazing!

I can’t even imagine myself complaining about a lil scratch in my glove box lmao
Knowing bmw replacing the interior of the glove box would be $600
I can understand him being upset about such a nice, pristine car having that tiny imperfection. Clearly someone that pays $600 for a detail cares deeply about their cars appearance. I'm the exact opposite. I use a monthly wash membership for around $20, I detailed my engine bay once. I keep a shop vac plugged in the garage, so I can vac it when it needs it. I never really do much of a deep clean.
The man brought in an M3 and it got marked up. Id be mad too
Nope, he's dumb with a lot of money 💰. I understand the part about paying $600 and having the same result as a regular machine car wash, but if you're petty then you're a low life, no matter the circumstances. The only reason they catered to that customer is because they have to. Not many people in their right mind will pay $600 for a car wash.
You absolutely do NOT get the same results when comparing detailing to tunnel washes. What you get is guaranteed damage to your paint and a constant wax buildup when you drive through a wash…particularly the ones with the rollers.
@@arrozconmgtow5026 ok

At $600 the customer expects a lot so the customer can be picky and the detailers should expect this. You did take care of the customer so kudos to you.
600 DOLLARS for a freaking car wash ? Jezus im in the wrong business, these are scammers holy fuck.

try producing the same results at home with supplies from the corner shop. not only are you going to waste an entire day, it's going to look like shite. good detailers are worth their weight in gold, especially when working on vehicles that have been neglected. $600 usd isn't much, considering the overhead, taxes, time involved, supplies, etc. quality chemicals are not cheap.
