How can i become a game developer
@@FunnyAnimalsHub430 a
"start going to indie dev meetups"
*Oh.... Right*
Meetups = no, that is mostly just troling. Marketing critical point is promotional material because we live in an age were exposure is easy
It's 2020 and I still find it insulting that your channel doesn't have x5 times views and x3 as many subscribers. You guys really put so much effort and we thank you for all these high quality videos. Really appreciated!
I approve this video because there is a Dreamcast!
Gotta love the Dreamcast!
Fantastic video! Big fun of the channel, looking forward for the next videos of this topic!
wow this is a great channel! Quality content all around.
loving your channel content very helpful
This was randomly recommended to me, I saw the word gamedev and i subbed it
Great video! Im still waiting on the second part.
This is a helpful roadmap. Marketing is getting more creative every day!
great stuff!!
Very very informative for us.. Thankyou
Just landed a job and here to learn!
Loved the new background music! Very relaxing
Thanks so much! We'll try to use it more often.
@@AskGamedev what is the name and author by the way?
Very helpful, thanks.
Our lecturer showed this video for our game design course so thank you
Awesome !
Wow, was that "Game Marketing Roadmap!" shouted by Matt Berry?! xD
This is GREAT!!!!!!!!♥️
Thanks boys
This is a great video, and makes sense. But how do I actually do an external game test? Like how do you get the initial visibility/make connections to be able to do that? I’ve made a game, Champion of Andia, and have a steam page etc. but it so hard to get that initial wave of views/exposure
Hi! I am a brazilian artist interest in game dev. In the video "How Much Do Video Games Cost to Make?" you talk about taxes, what is this taxes? how much does this cost? Thanks so much!! Your videos are amazing!
Woah epic
Couldnt you just say what this channel is about in the channel trailer, instead of saying it in every video? No matter what, great video as always! 👍
Thanks for the kind words and feedback! We'll see what we can do :)
I’m interested in starting a marketing career in my game but I don’t know where to start.
Where is part 2?!
I am following all those tips hahahahaha
Thanks guys. You really are helping us!
No problem! Thanks for watching!
so much work x_x
so many people I'm trying not to panic.
Guys! Whats exactly the video about pre-launch, launch and post-launch? Can you help me find it? Thanks for your content!
Hello! I am currently deciding on which career to take. I have always felt like working on the video game industry would be amazing, but I don't really see myself as a full-time game designer. Another field that has always interested me is Marketing, so I thought it'd be a great idea to work as a video game marketer. Do you have any advice on this? Is it viable to study Marketing if I want to have this kind of job? How scalable is it into "higher" positions like a creative or a producer? Thanks!
That's awesome! Disclaimer, I'm not in the industry and am just a hobbyist right now, but my advice would be to make sure you actually work on games! Yes, having a marketing degree/education will help, but games company's want to see you are good at marketing, and more specifically, good at game marketing. I'd consider making your own trailers for other games, maybe joining a small indie team and doing some marketing for them, getting involved in another game's community, etc. If you have a favorite game, maybe make your own trailer, tutorials, fan art, wiki, etc. Not only will this help you get a job, but it's also a test to see if you like it. Good luck!
I have worked a game design job as a trained marketer. Now I just do online marketing as it a more stable job in my country. F2P game models and marketing have many similarities. If you choose one and you are dedicated you can make the jump.
@@TonsOfHunStudios I'm thinking of a career transition similar to what the OP is talking about. I like these tips. I'm currently wondering how to get involved with an indie dev team that I like. I'm already a very seasoned marketer with 10 years of experience.
@@ryanchattertonYT Cool! I'd consider just looking at some of your favorite games/upcoming ones and see if their teams are looking for any help. You might potentially need to do some free work if that's a possibility for you, but I'm sure smaller indie teams would love the help. With your experience in marketing though it sounds like you just need to show that your skills apply to games and you should be set. Good luck :)
I"m not sure if you've decided to continue your studies in game marketing but if you'd like to start somewhere I wouldn't mind working with you, I've made a few games already and I'm working on a big VR project.
1:54 Ironic. You just listed 3/4 of my platforms I plan to release my game on.

If they read books for gaming designing then what books we should refer most to
Thanks for your question! We talked about some great design books in our holiday gift guide: czcams.com/video/7QjHv7UzDIc/video.html
quick question if Im a solo developer ... when would the right time for marketing be?
Always.
Make sure to post on social media at least once per week.
How do you get featured on Game award shows?
Hey I need one thing does game designers read books of gaming designing for inner motivation and knowing about gaming
They watch webinars and podcasts about their specialization. F2P designers may watch gdc videos about game economics etc
I think you guys do a great job, and seem like awesome people. However if I have to be 100% honest, the demographic you guys are catering to does not exist. That is why great videos like this are getting criminally low views. Part of it is the youtube algorithm, part of it is how you do your visuals in the video, but mostly it just does not reach a significant audience.
I promise I am only saying this because I want to help. Please don't take this the wrong way
Thanks for the feedback!
Obviously we exist, here we are :) There are a bunch of these "I want to make a game"-targeted channels, and several do very well
Where is Part 2?
What does this mean for #marketingartist?
Something tells me teal robot wasnt a hit game
eyy
Ah yes, that famous line, "when's the playtest going to be available."
Listen here Marketing!!! lol
I'm second!

I just smile at every video about marketing your game. Everyone doesn't want to say what is the real deal how to market your game.
You can cut every of these things and just do one thing. But i guess, i understand why because i don't want to say it either.
Hey! I'm doing indie game reviews for my channel, if you want me to feature your game just send me the link to my discord!
